... for my granddaughter's first birthday. So pleased with how it turned out, as I adapted the bodice from one pattern, and sort of made up the skirt as I didn't have a pattern for it. Just got to make a little pair of matching knickers now. Can't wait to see her wearing it smile

Ooh Indinana, it's gorgeous. You are so clever!! Any chance of a later pic with little one wearing it?

And what a lovely, pleasant thread you've started. Hooray for normality.

Can't believe she's nearly a year old. Remember when she was anxiously awaited!

Indinana Wed 08-Jun-16 12:30:37

Aw thanks Bella. No we are all finding it hard to believe how fast the time has gone too. It's been such a wonderful year watching her grow and become the lovely, mischievous, happy little girl that she is today.
Yes, I'll try to remember to post a photo of her wearing it. My daughter has booked a 'first birthday photo shoot' with a friend of hers who's a professional photographer - she will be wearing this dress for the shoot.

Lovely, indi smile

annodomini Wed 08-Jun-16 14:27:24

It's gorgeous, Indi. Wouldn't it be fantastic if one of our grans could be a contestant in Sewing Bee. BTW, I am no volunteering!

Liz46 Wed 08-Jun-16 14:28:27

It's lovely. You are very clever.

hildajenniJ Wed 08-Jun-16 14:32:23

How beautiful! I wish I could sew. Unfortunately my younger self wasn't interested. Now crochet, that's another matter entirely.

Blinko Wed 08-Jun-16 14:44:01

Its just gorgeous, Indinana! How clever of you to be able to make it. It took me seven years to complete the school apron. That was when we wore such things smile

Jenty61 Wed 08-Jun-16 15:08:18

thats beautiful Indiana....

Grannyknot Wed 08-Jun-16 15:09:45

Lovely! How lucky she is to have a sewing granny. My grandmother made all my clothes (and my sister's) all the way through to our teens. I have such fond memories of her sewing and can remember some of the dresses to this day.

She made my wedding dress too.

soop Wed 08-Jun-16 15:19:22

Indinana Your granddaughter will love her dress. It is perfect. I love the delicious fabric.

annodomini Wed 08-Jun-16 15:33:34

My dressmaking days were in my 20s, living in a hot climate. I made cotton shifts and empire line dresses. Very easy and didn't need much fitting.

Greyduster Wed 08-Jun-16 16:23:20

I have only ever made one sewn garment since leaving school, and that was a skirt for DD when she was about nine. It came out surprisingly well, but I never had the urge to do it again! It's really lovely indinana, well done.

Indinana Wed 08-Jun-16 16:27:54

Thank you all - it's so lovely to see all these posts on my return from Tesco! A lovely, happy thread smile

You may think it odd (I do) I quite like the sewing programme on atm (can't remember the name)

Back in the 70's when Mrs P made dresses, I often ended up doing the machining, as she can't sew a straight line to save her life.
