Slippers!

My last pair of slippers were from Dunnes. Comfy, fur-lined washable and hard wearing. I must give them another go as I'm due a new pair for winter.
They've got to be warm however they look.
I wear M&S long slipper socks in bed in the winter, fur-lined of course and thick fleece pj's.

Just really want to go barefoot, love it, but can’t anymore. Diabetes struck so feet are mega 8mportant, must be protected. For winter I have a pair of fur lined crocs, they’re about 10 yrs old, furry lining is a bit worn, but a pair of socks sorts it. I have stubbed them, but not my feet. The little toe incident also happened to me. I also have a pair of totally flat wollen/felt backless jobbies, oh so delightfully warm. Love them too. They’re both old, but still very serviceable, just as well, can’t afford new ones.

Alima I simply pad around in socks - but I do occasionally kick a table by mistake.
I used to have a lovely pair of very plain leather slip-on slippers, tight enough to stay on. They were actually made for boys (size 6), without a fluffy lining, and lasted for years. I can't find anything like them now.

I wear a pair of rose-gold coloured flat slip-on shoes, specifically bought to be my slippers. Safe and comfortable.

Mule slippers are fine but easy to walk out them backwards, so best kept for bedroom to bathroom use only. I use a pair of 'getting past their best' ballerinas as house shoes. This is what Germans do so this must be alright!

I no longer wear slippers. I like to go barefoot until my tootsies start to feel the cold, at which point I wear those flat ballet-style pumps indoors.

I would not dare to wear just socks as, knowing my luck, I would doubtless slip on the stairs and do myself a mischief.

You do realise that we will all now be swamped with e-mails and pop up ads for every type of slipper known to man (or woman)!

I had a tatty pair with the heels trodden down for years. I then heard a radio item stating that the biggest cause of falls (needing hospital admission) in the over 60s is badly fitting slippers and scatter mats and rugs. I nearly went a**e over t**s yesterday on a kitchen mat but just managed to grab the worktop.

I bought a sensible pair of pink slippers but they are not very warm and reaching down to fasten the Velcro is tricky. My new glamour look is a pair of bright turquoise bed socks (knitted for me by DD2) and yet another pair of sheepskin slippers that have stretched and now accommodate said bed socks!

Once we have settled down in the evening OH takes off his socks and I pull my lovely wooly blanket on to cover my knees and feet. OH kindly offers me his socks. He doesn’t have particularly cheesy feet but I decline the offer.

Comfortable, safe slippers are actually quite important to our wellbeing, at least for some of us!

Moshulu slippers are very hard-wearing, fashionable and comfortable. Their shoes don't fit me, but the slippers are great. Lots of different styles. You can get a bootie style in funky designs so they don't look like old lady slippers!!

Crocs - but they have to be proper Crocs as the look-a-likes don't have the proper support in them ....

I would not risk mules, a sturdy pair of proper slippers with non slip soles would be best up and down stairs. Cotton Traders, Pavers, M&S online stores are all good.

I usually wear mule slippers but it has been pointed out at a "certain age" one should not wear mules as feet can easily slip out of them especially when walking up and down stairs, there is a risk for a fall.Mine are wearing out rapidly, I must buy some "safe" slippers this week.

Birkenstocks

I wear Crocs all summer but have a pair of Fitflop shearling lined suede mule slippers which I’ve had for nearly 5 years. I like the Costco ones in the picture so perhaps it’s time for some new ones.

I wear a lot of Birkenstock sandals in the summer and in winter I wear an old pair with socks. Good soles, great fit and with socks warm enough.

Furry boot slippers... and cut the bobbles off!

Uggs for me

I wear a cheaper version of an Ugg boot. I have concrete floors, so I like something warm. Look great with leggings or jeans too

I am 84 and have just had my second hip replacement operation. It was imperative that I get good supportive, anti slip sole slippers. I am very happy with a pair got from Hotter. They are sort of mule style so easy to slip on but they have a short lip on the back which stops them falling off too easily. I love them and would recommend them. Hope this helps

I only wear slippers first thing in the morning. Once I'm dressed, it's my ' house shoes ', as in old trainers that I no longer wear outside. I like the firmness of shoes. My mother worked in a care home, and the ' old school ' matron didn't allow slippers. She said that shoes were safer, and better for the feet, plus she felt that they were better for confidence. She insisted that, where possible, the residents should be nicely dressed, and that included shoes. She thought that it was better for morale too.

bought in one of Lands' End's perpetual sales. A bit tight at first but they soon stretched. Very comfortable and a good non-slip sole.

Try Moshulu...I have lovely sheepskin house boots with rubber soles. You can go out to the shed/greenhouse with them on.

Slipper socks. Just bought a pair from Asda for 7 pounds. Lovely warm and comfy and can be washed.

Padders, quite frumpy looking but warm, comfy and safe walking.
Another thread asked about old lady clothes, well I suppose mine are definitely old lady slippers but what the heck!
