Headlines today, Prince Harry, flying in from Canada to host a conference on sustainable travel and ways for ordinary travellers to offset the damage that travel does. errrr

This is just the tip of the iceberg though. How often does some celeb preach that the lower orders should change their behaviour while the celeb continues to do the very thing that is causing the damage.

That meeting to launch eco travel is a foundation ie loads of money for H.

I will continue to take commercial flights (as he did, no private jet for him)

Harry and Meghan flew from Vancouver in a private jet laid on by JP Morgan so he could talk at an event in Florida. They have both frequently used private jets over the last two years.

Harry is known for not listening to advice but even he's not daft enough to use a private jet this time knowing it's his first visit to the UK since Megxit and the media will be all over it.

He's not the only one though. All the royals swan about in private jets and helicopters.

I think if he took a raft from Canada to UK then hiked to the conference, that would fit in with what he’s preaching about!

Jane10
Apparently? he now wants to be'one of the boys'? Call me 'Harry'

SirChenjin Thu 27-Feb-20 15:43:06

Well, not quite - he's keeping the Duke and Earl.

I feel a song coming on. grin

The words are so appropriate grin grin

SirChenjin Thu 27-Feb-20 16:23:36

Love it grin

Jane10 Thu 27-Feb-20 16:35:12

If he's just 'one of the boys' he'll not need security guards. That's a relief anyway.

grandmac Thu 27-Feb-20 16:35:20

Maybe if they paid the £20million for their own security they wouldn’t be able to afford all the toing and froing!

Make room for another one behind that sofa!!

SirChenjin Thu 27-Feb-20 16:39:15

Or if they just stayed put in Canada and dialled into the meeting from their kitchen table like the rest of us do then they wouldn't need any security.

Maremia Thu 27-Feb-20 16:49:39

Could I get back to the main point? What are Easter biscuits, and do you have enough to share?

Nanny27 Thu 27-Feb-20 17:43:41

Mmm Easter biscuits are delicious. Hutch up you lot, I'm coming round with a tinful

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 18:18:46

Greta Thunberg is coming to Bristol tomorrow and there are 'multiple warnings' about the excessive traffic which will be result of this visit, making normal business extremely difficult and disrupting the city.

merlotgran Thu 27-Feb-20 18:20:27

How is she getting there?

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 18:21:28

Presumably on that yacht up the Avon?
That would make quite an entrance.
Or perhaps train.

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 18:22:35

There is a large hospital near the city centre.
I just hope there is no disruption to services there.

Calendargirl Thu 27-Feb-20 18:27:15

Off topic, Canada will no longer provide security for the Sussexes when they step down as senior royals end of March.

GreenGran78 Thu 27-Feb-20 19:00:20

Given the amount of abuse that they have received since they became engaged I don't blame them for their decision to withdraw. I'm getting rather bored with the whole topic though. We should just leave them alone to get on with their lives. As for all the travelling, they are doing what celebrities do. Once one decides to use the internet, instead of attending 'in the flesh' perhaps others will join them.
It must be quite crowded behind the sofa, but may I also squeeze in, please? I flew to Australia last November to attend my daughter's wedding, and returned home at the beginning of February. I am going back again at the end of April for the birth of my son's first baby.
I told them off for not coordinating the events better. They have no consideration for their mother having to make the long and expensive trip twice in six months! However I make no apology for stacking up the air miles. At 80 I am going to visit them as often as possible, until I can't manage the journey any more.
(Dons tin hat and ducks behind the sofa. Move over, everyone. I've brought chocolates!) smile

Pantglas2 Thu 27-Feb-20 19:13:29

I’ve stated that I’ll stop flying when the red arrows and F1 cease to exist so budge up behind the sofa - I’ve buttered some Bara Brith....

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 19:28:46

Sorry, there are two large hospitals in Bristol nearby, one is a Children's Hospital.

GreenGran78 Thu 27-Feb-20 19:33:41

and Welsh Cakes, please, Pantglas2

BradfordLass73 Thu 27-Feb-20 19:40:01

I'm sure his wife sees him as a saint but surely he hasn't yet been given the gift of walking on water?

And why should he not fly home to his own country and continue his interests?

All very well to look after your own carbon footprint and good for you but it does no one any good when you obsess about other people's.

maddyone Thu 27-Feb-20 19:42:45

Ooh Bara Brith and Welsh Cakes, it’s going to heaven behind the sofa. Maybe H+M will want to join us when they realise that Canada won’t provide security any more. They’ll be perfectly safe with us, no one will take on a sofa full of battle hardened grannies.

maddyone Thu 27-Feb-20 19:43:59

Do think they like Bara Brith? Or do they prefer Welsh Cakes do you think?
