What do you keep in your loft

Having lugged stuff around for 43 years from our 5 moves on our last move 11 years ago I filled two skips with junk from the loft. So therapeutic. Now it's only Christmas decorations and suitcases up there. I made a promise to myself to not store stuff "just in case" as I know my AC will just chuck all out when I pop my clogs.

I have one half of my loft as a sewing room and the other is full of everything you would imagine a loft to be full of ( furniture, paint pots, old toys, books, ‘stuff from an ex hobby or 2 or 3 or 4)
Two years ago I fell out of the loft and fractured my wrist !
Im 71 now and still think “ oh i wont throw that away, i might need it” Its crazy. I have a disabled partner who cant get up there, so its all up to me!!
Downstairs is clutter free.
Not sure if i should be brutal and chuck the lot!

Absolutely nothing now. Before we moved we had a loft packed with stuff. Children’s books, toys , odd bits of furniture. It took us several weeks to clear it. Never again .

Ours is filled with gubbins that go with the solar panels on the roof.

A state of the art music mixing desk & computer and ... right now ie right this minute ... I would guess a few empty beer cans, some McD's and drinks remains ... and my son!!!
I do like the sound of @EEJit "gubbins" - that is going to be my word of the day!!

The TV Ariel and nothing else. Absolutely nothing, My parents house and both sisters houses were nightmares to clear and I vowed my daughters would never have to clear out a loft when I died.

Had a huge declutter of the loft some years ago now it has my boys toys, lego and such like, some childrens books, I think there may be some baby clothes. I don't like going up there as I hate ladders. Might just have to stick my head up there and be brave. Christmas decorations are under the stairs.

44 years worth of junk. My late husband used to hang on to everything ,whether it still worked or not just 'incase'. If I could actually manage to get up there, I'm sure I could fill several skips

Christmas decks are up there....box of old records ( 33 and 45) ‘s. Kids old games .... school stuff that they made..... 6 suitcases (never be used again)..... old table lamps... grandchildren’s high chair, travel cot.... they e all gotta go. Made a point of going up there once a week and bringing something down with me. When charity shops open ,the travel cot AND the high chair are going ( or maybe I should check with daughter first)!!!

Nothing in mine. I wont let husband put anything there as it becomes inaccessible. When we moved here 15 years ago we were promised the loft was empty. A few months later we discovered it was full of toys, baby equipment, and a childs desk and chairs. We got rid of everything, only to regret it when our grandchildren came along.

new build, already well insulated. It has a large hatch that opens downwards with a long tool, sliding safe stairs and a light. I have never been in there. Tv man went in to install an aerial, nothing else in there and nothing else will go in there

We resolved never to put stuff into a loft after having to dclutter and empty the loft in the family home. All that stuff, `the children will want that one day!` no they don`t

Junk, junk and more junk! The same with the summerhouse, the sheds and, in fact, the house. We keep talking about decluttering but our jaws are the only thing that do the work.

We did have a clear out of the loft a few years ago and got rid of a lot of stuff but it's still got too much up there. Mostly Christmas decorations, several trees/garlands, a huge box of lights which will never be used any more plus several large bags of pillows and duvets although I did get rid of many of those last year. We are thinking of moving and the thought of clearing the loft plus the garage where we have most of the clutter after 34 years is pretty daunting

Nothing except insulation and, whatever is required for the TV to work - no satellite dish outside. It's a new build bungalow, and the builders advised the purchasers not to use the loft for storage. Now, the garage houses the suitcases, Christmas stuff, wool stash, stools, PC and many items which others have mentioned. Luckily, the storage in the house is quite good! The car is never in the garage! I've not even seen inside the loft in the three and a half years I've been here.

Don't know - its over 20 years since I was in it.

I just have a stand chair in my loft now. I used to have a lot more things but then I realised that when anything happened to me my sister and brother-in-law would have to clear out the loft and I felt that wasn't fair. The chair in the loft belongs to the flat, so I've left that up there.
When my stepfather died unexpectedly we had such a problem clearing out the loft and his office that my mum, when she moved, decided not to put anything in the loft and to keep her stuff down to a minimum of things so that problem wouldn't be repeated when she died.

Insulation! Christmas stuff under the snooker table, everything else in garage, spare bedroom wardrobe or snooker room. Now emptying snooker room as snooker table is not used any more - to turn it into 'the garden room' - the biggest room in the house, and is used as a store-room.

I paid for 2 young men (sons of a friend) to empty my loft after my husband left me. I had no idea how much junk was there - and the 2 lads found stuff that they asked if they could have. Most of the rest went to the tip.
Now just a few Christmas decorations and a small ‘trunk’ of special bits I don’t want to get rid of - but no doubt that will also go once my daughter inherits!

You could probably just about live in mine (if you can find space). Keep trying to declutter everywhere, but DH wants to hold on to everything (drives me mad). Am trying to get rid of my stuff, but that leaves more space for DH to clutter with his stuff!!

Christmas decorations and stuff that I keep saying I'm going to do a boot fair with . My Moto is if up in the loft you don't need it . Except the Christmas decorations of course .

I keep my late son’s uniform.

Half of loft space, filled boxes suitcases storage boxes. No idea what is in them now. Toys from 60 years ago, clothing from the 70s that I can no longer get into(was I ever that slim) Books crockery I have inherited and never used. Every couple of years go up and "sort out" things to get rid of but never seem to make a differenceI wonder what the weight limit is for lofts!!!!! Less able to fit through the hatch so thinking about getting it inlarged.

Nothing, I downsized two years ago, and I had to be ruthless.
I put my children’s drawings and paintings in three scrap books.
Threw out all my nursing/ uni notes and coursework, it’s out of date anyway after five years and kept only the certificates.
The Christmas tree, rolls of carpet, late husband’s guitars live in the garage. Now that’s another story!
