What was the First Record that you Bought?

Anyone Who Had a Heart by Cilla Black. I must have been quite a melodramatic five year old to have liked that! I’ve still got it as well. The record, and probably the melancholy!

I don’t remember the first record I bought, because my mom was always buying records. She bought all the Beatles singles, as well as all of cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, manfred man, the supremes. So I think now my mom was quite cool. And guess what ???
I’ve still got them ??

First single was Runaround Sue by Racey in 1977, 65p in Woolworths. First album was Now That's What I Call Music 3 about 1985 for £2.99.

Romola, yes, I went to see Espresso Bongo. I remember being outraged at Lawrence Harvey calling Cliff`s character "a snotty nosed kid"! Loved the song "A Voice in the Wilderness".

Unchained Melody Al Hibler. At 13 my girl friend and I used to cry over it.

Cliff Richards' 'Move It'. I was 13 years old!!!! (1959) I made a scrap book of all his pictures and thought he was wonderful........ He's still around and so am I!

My mum took me to the cinema to see Tommy the Toreador! I loved that song!

I've got rhythm by The Happenings, about 1965. Funny how you remember your first record.

Sugar sugar by the Archies and Black Night by Deep Purple. (not sure why as I was not into Rock). He's gonna step on you again by John Kongos. Still like this track and still have all the records.

I don't remember the first single I bought but when I was 11, my parents bought me The New Seekers, "I'd like to teach the world to sing," album at my behest as a reward for passing my Grade One Piano exam. I played it to death.

I had a cassette player for my birthday when I was twelve and this was my first tape.

Aep I went to see Guy Mitchell in Manchester when I was about 13. With a friend we stood outside the stage door hoping for a word or autograph. He swept through all those waiting with a busty blonde on his arm and drove off. She was the then-current Katy Price and was called Sabrina or Sabina. However I loved the show and went on to buy many of his records.

The first record I bought was from Sandie Shaw puppet on a String I was 13 !
