Freedom to shop

No, I've no plans to dash into town just yet! I've tried to go food shopping only once a week ( supermarket on Friday, 6-7am), and think I've only been into town a handful of times during the past year. Not helped by our town centre multi-storey closing, so fewer parking spaces available!
I can wait for new clothes/shoes/random other "stuff" until the crowds die down. I am looking forward, eventually, to a good browse round the charity shops though! x

No visits to the shops for me, apart from our weekly supermarket shop. I'm not really a hobby shopper anyway, I only go when I actually need to buy something specific.

I remember what the queues were like last time - I was only going to the supermarket but outside Primark, TkMaxx and a few other shops there were hundreds of people all chattering away and bouncing up and down as if Christmas had come early, social distancing completely forgotten even by those who didn't wear masks. In a couple of weeks it will have died down a bit.

I love TKMaxx but as I don’t need anything so shan’t go in case I’m tempted.

I'm not going anywhere. I'm happy doing shopping on line.

I like browsing little shops like charity shops, but will likely not be doing that until mask wearing is not required as I detest the claustrophobic feeling of the horrible things.
Interestingly on the TV this morning, it was clarified that giving a lift to friends is not allowed, but driving lessons are. Yet another anomaly!

Not today as have DGS here with me, who's having his pm nap at the moment.
Tomorrow I've got a chiropody appointment in town so may pop in to M&S to check if I see something I fancy in the clothes department. We could also do with some new jigsaw puzzles etc for DGS, as he likes doing them so much.

I want to visit a craft shop as it's so difficult to judge specific colours online,but that won't be for a few days yet. Looking forward to the hairdressers next week.

Just heard from friends? They hadn’t thought about the car aspect! So the one going to drive will take a covid test on Thursday, and if clear take our poorly friend and I’ll drive separately.

Seems like a plan. I shall take a long winters coat, gloves and scarf!!

I am going to have my hair sorted out this week, but it is at my hairdressers home where we sit in her dining room with the patio doors open. She wears mask and full face covering. I wear a mask which gets changed after having my hair washed as it always gets wet.
We enter her house by the back way, so no plodding through the house spreading germs or virus.

I was at the library to return a book first thing this morning, then walked to the shops for a couple of things I needed. Huge queue outside Primark, which was also the case at the end of the last lockdown. Went for a little browse in Waterstones, which was empty, and treated myself to coffee and a cake (outside seating only). Not planning on returning to the shops for a while!

Our M & S has been open all through lockdown so I've been able to buy essentials. I'm looking forward to getting my hair sorted on Wednesday but apart from that I'm in no rush

No, I’m not going anywhere much until I’ve had my second vaccination. Also there will probably be a lot of people rushing out to the shops, I prefer to wait until it quietens down a little ?

Sent for blouse on line. Received Saturday. Miles too long. Unwanted. Then discovered it was suddenly half price! So more of a reason to take back to a shop this week. Whether other shops will be included depends on how many people around. Want to feel safe. Had both jabs.

Popped into TKMaxx this afternoon. No queues which surprised me. I bought a couple of pairs of casual shoes and a pair of much needed Adidas Trainers...I have to say I felt a bit flustered with people so close and was glad to leave....!!!!

I went into town today.Not as busy as l expected.But was lovely to just browse and actually try things on, such a small thing but was a pleasure.l purchased a dress, top and a skirt.No disappoint as with internet shopping and no having to return it,bliss.Followed by a coffee sitting outside in the sun.Near normal, wonderful!

I am not going shopping until I have had my 2nd jab and given it time to work. I have booked a hair appointment for late May, my first since March last year, and it will be a relief to get my long hair chopped.

But I was trying to think of shops I really want to visit and there just aren't any. I prefer online grocery shopping and I loathe shopping for clothes. I like bookshops but there's only one in our city and I'm not desperate to visit. DH will want to go back to making tedious trips to B&Q but I won't go if I can avoid it.

I have missed my vocation. I could have had a career as a hermit.

We visted local fire showrooms, all very comfortable.

In all three shops, only one other couple viewing the fires.
Plenty of room to keep our distance .

Only downside was more traffic than we have become used to.
But as we were part of it we really can't complain.

We did pass a barbers and smaller shops with queues of people snaking down the street, causing us and others to step off the pavement on to the road.

So we can go and sit in the hairdressers for perhaps an hour, but can’t have any family over the threshold ?

Ealde - would love to know what book you will be collecting from the Library.

Only place open here to go to is the garden centres and I bet they will be really busy so I will leave trips there for a couple weeks. Hairdressers are hoping 29th, please, please!

I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up some pills and I popped into M & S foodhall on the way back but I wouldn't have gone out otherwise.

I guess I’ll go eventually but I’ve just got out of the habit

Not rushing out. I’ll wait until the crowds die down but then might risk a garden centre.
I’ll continue with online grocery shopping for the foreseeable future too, I’ve been shielding for a year so I’m being cautious.

Doing a stint in our charity bookshop tomorrow. Looking forward to that, then on Wednesday, lunch outside the local pub and a quick visit to Black Sheep Wools for some yarn.

I went shopping this afternoon, to Waitrose, the butchers' and the greengrocer, all of which I have visited regularly during lockdown. Then, joy of joys, into the bookshop, where the kind assistant let me buy her reserved copy of Hamnet. They had sold all the other copies this morning but more coming tomorrow .
Double jabbed, masked and sanitised. Very pleasant to be out.
