Good Morning Thursday

Exciting news for us. DD2 has had her second baby, a boy yesterday at 6:30am, 2 days late and weighing in at 8lb 2oz. He was born at home, 13 minutes after the midwives arrived so it was a close call. No name yet. We dropped round to see them but only stayed a short while. Our 2 year old DGD is enchanted (so far) with the new arrival.

Lovely weather is forecast so will strike up the bbq later today or tomorrow and spatchcock a chicken. Nice as it is, I’m very aware farmers are desperate for rain. We crossed a field of a recently sown crop on Sunday and the ground was baked hard and cracked.

I hope Cherry has had a disturbance free night. It seems like madness that nothing can be done. Are there other neighbours being disturbed? Would it be possible to record the noise and then use it and report it?

DH is taking the car to have a new tyre fitted.

Good morning all from bright sun, +2 and a light frost in S Hants. gM a brilliant difference in your garden, couple of months will really see the change. Harri my voluntary work is with a Good Neighbours scheme that provides lifts, you may have a local one? And Mick good to chat with old work colleagues.
My dentist trip was better than I thought, the planned extraction didn’t happen, but a deeper cleaning regime with interdental stix is now down to me. Next appointment early June to bond my top front teeth, 2 hours! My discovery of a forgotten, still in date, credit note from M&S for £32 means I’m going to hit the small food hall later. More watering today, this is an odd April, late frosts and very dry, I’d like a warm summer, but not boiling like last year.
This thread always makes me pause to think of others in a tough place, so I wish all of you a gentle day, with no big bumps in your road.

Life is getting rather exciting for me at the moment. I have bought myself a little house (semi) on the Merseyside in a beautiful little sea side town. My DS2 lives there with his family. I have been wanting to relocate for a while. I shall keep my house here though, as I have 2 sisters and lots of friends living near me. I have an equal love for Britain and Germany.So, now I am just waiting for my 2nd vaccination (which is only at the end of June) and then I shall take my little dog with me to stay for a few month in Britain. I haven`t seen my 2 sons in England for over 1 year. I can`t wait. Have a pleasant day all and if you are not feeling well, I hope that all will improve soon.

Morning all from a glorious north Wales where we’ve been promised ? for the whole weekend, so kind of LauraNorder to share her island weather with us here on the mainland!

I’m trotting to Tesco later for a small shop and have a confession to make, to Litterpicker - I buy the Sourdough Bread Mix to make the odd loaf! ?. It’s one of easiest/tastiest loaves and slices effortlessly.

I’m like Nigella - having to tend to a SD culture each day would be like having another baby and not something I want to commit to at my age!

Good Morning everyone! Off out in the sunshine to my Hairdresser. Needs doing but at least we have had hairdressing access for months now, so no need for the good citizens to hide indoors as I stroll past!

Good morning all from a sunny but chilly Wiltshire. Reading through your posts it struck me how lovely it is to hear about your trips out, shopping and family meet-ups - so different from a year ago where the main topics were where best to get online grocery shops and wiping down shopping when it did arrive. We’ve all had a difficult year for sure.
All is well on the farm except still no rain therefore very little grass . Luckily we still have plenty of hay left to supplement what little grazing there is but the cattle aren’t happy. Usually they are knee deep in lovely spring grass this time of year, now they have bowling greens! Oh for a few good April showers !
I’ve been doing as much in the garden as I can find time to do. My elderly parents are coming to stay on 17th May, all being well, and they really enjoy the garden as they now live in a flat so I’d like it to look it’s best. 10 years ago the garden was just a lawn and now it’s a riot of flower beds so lots to maintain.
I’ve attached a photo of my ‘special needs’ lambs - Popeye, Olive, Sweet pea and Arthur enjoying the sunshine. My favourite times of the day are spent hanging out with these guys!

Morning all from a 3.3c south coast. Bright and sunny again but the pesky easterly air flow is keeping it cool.

The builders have just arrived and might finish today. They got the roof panels on yesterday but spent ages doing all the fiddly bits involved. Such hard workers! I have been most impressed. Several neighbours have been and admired their work and a couple are interested in having their garages revamped too but John, our builder, is booked solid until October so is not doing any quotes at the moment.

DH is having another run out with his bike club this morning and is looking forward to managing to go a bit further each time as his strength builds up again. He did 20+ miles last week and thinks he can do more today.

We got the second quote for the new CH boiler, at last, yesterday but it is considerably higher than the first quote and has taken a lot of getting so I think the first one will get the contract. He was my favourite anyway!

Hope the day is a good one for us all.

Morning all from a frosty covered West Yorks with sun shining through bright blue sky,hopefully ideal day to start much needed tidy and wash down outside (if the skip goes as promised 3days ago).
Grandmattie your photo has set me planning,yours will be a delight when flowers get established.
Harri such a worry knowing how/what to tempt your husband into eating.Remember yrs ago nursing MIL who only wanted custard or rice pudding and would not entertain anything else.Took a good few weeks to wean her onto nutritious foods then very small baby portions.
We must sort through contents of loft, be utterly ruthless and make donation to charity shop.I am so sentimental with possessions bought over many happy yrs that only feels like yest.
Take care all and thoughts of those with illness and worry.

Meant to say earlier that my 85y old neighbour on our landing in Malaga (and friend) had her first vax a few days ago! She is obviously delighted and was given the date for her second exactly 3 weeks later.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s sunny again but we had another hard frost.
I spent much of yesterday feeding and watering the lawns. I’m hoping to see some improvement soon but we really do need some rain as Sheep says. The fields around the village are like concrete and the crops are at a standstill.

Good morning all, from a now sunny Glasgow. Like Kalu, I plan a day in the garden. So much tidying up to do, but a little each day and frequent rests is the plan.
I'm retreating into the garden today, because DH got his second jab yesterday and has turned into Victor Meldrew. He should just be grateful he got it! I have currently been chasing mine, to no avail. Shielders have to be done at their GP practice, but mine has no vaccine at present! ☹

Baubles, what lovely photos of Culzean. I hadn't been to Culzean, since my Primary 7 leavers' trip, until two years ago. DD was going to a wedding there and an hour after she left here, we discovered she had left her coat, bag and purse here. ?
It was a frosty day DH ( who had to abandon watching the racing) and I had to drive down with them, as she was staying at Turnberry for two nights and of course, wouldn't be able to pay her bill and probably die from hypothermia, having no coat! ( Litterpicker, it took over an hour from here on the M77, no other motorways were involved! ?) The frosty scenery was stunning!
We spent many a happy family day out at Dunure, just along the coast. Your photos have brought back so many happy memories.

Yesterday, the installers putting a new roof on the Ebay queen's conservatory kindly came across to try and open our stuck patio door.
They managed to do it, but found that there were parts missing from when it was originally built about seventeen years ago, hence all the problems over the years. They wouldn't take a penny for the temporary fix, but we do need new doors!!!? They are not cheap!!!
We are finding that our house, which we bought as a new build, thirty years ago, is starting to need things done. The E queen has a builder doing some pointing work at the weekend, so I will nab him too. If left to DH, our house would fall down! I feel for the present, that I may have got some of my mojo back! DH once tried to repoint our front stairs, with the wrong colour of motor, they are still a mess. The E queen mentioned them yesterday, saying she admired my restraint. She would have divorced her DH for that disaster! ?

You will be relieved to know, I have lost most of my post! Lumsy hands grrrrr. Probably for the best. ?
I'm off to strip the bed!

Good morning everyone from a gorgeous sunny start to the day on the east coast of Fife. We’re all wide awake in this house this morning we’re having underfloor cladding put in before the new boiler goes in it’s all a government scheme in energy savings. Everyone in receipt of a benefit and with a boiler over 7yrs old is entitled to a free boiler. Wouldn’t like to be climbing under my floorboards don’t know what’s down there.
Anyway have a good day everyone we’re nearly at the end of that dark tunnel the light is shining through. Keep safe will always be the motto.

Good morning all. 2° and sunny in Polmont. The forecast is to be fairly warm and about 18° which is wonderful for me but not so much for my pots. I also feel for the farmers like Sheepandcattle who are desperate for some decent wet weather.
Congratulations Glamma on the birth of your grandson. A new baby is such good news. Anselerin how lovely for you to be close to family. Urmstongran enjoy your walk and coffee with your walking friend. My friends are not keen on walking which is a shame as I would like to walk more but with company. Harrigran my dad lost his appetite and mum used to give him protein drinks from the chemist.
Yesterday was a lovely day. Mum was on good form, then I visited my oldest friend and her partner for coffee. My WhatsApp chat in the afternoon was cancelled so I spent some time in the garden. Grandmattie that part of your garden will be beautiful in months and years to come. Later on I caught up with Line of Duty series 5 so I'm ready to start the current series.
Today I will potter around the house and garden and enjoy the lovely weather. I might sit out in the summer house. Whatever you are up to, have a good day.

Good morning everyone from a glorious Scotland. I was up and dressed by eight today! Wash on and planning on hoovering. Plan to cook a curry later. Appreciate this is a bit mundane but grateful I am able to do it. Seem to be recovering my optimism after last week's accident. Had lots of lovely messages from friends too and plan to follow guidelines for morning coffee next week. Wishing you all the best of days. I appreciate being able to post on here.

Glorious morning and the garden is now full of blossom so just looking out of the window is a delight. DH calm and not in a rush to get up so I am relishing a quiet start. Tesco run this morning and Zoom WI book group this afternoon so that constitutes a full day in these strange times.
