Today our lockdown baby turns one year old so we’re off to have a picnic in the park next to DS’s house.

We had an unexpected visit from DS and 1 yr old DGS3 yesterday. It was nice to sit outside and play throwing and rolling a ball with him.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where decent weather is again forecast though cooling off next week. Not much rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future though.
I’m tired this morning. The house that backs onto us on the other side of the canal had a noisy outdoor gathering until the early hours. Then just as it finally went quiet at about 3, we had a noisy car head up our cul de sac with music blaring. I suspect it could well have been one of the party goers.
Our next door neighbour has put his house up for sale. He’s a noisy one too who likes his loud music, but on the whole he’s not bad and we could get far worse when he sells it. Always a worry getting new neighbours! He has been in just 3 years and it is up for sale at 100k more than he paid for it. The inflation with house prices doesn’t seem right to me!
A lazy day planned for today. DH has his team playing football later today if we haven’t fallen asleep.

I was awake at 6am, unusually for me I went back to sleep and just woken up!

Tea in bed, then cooked breakfast. I shall then get myself ready to go to middle AS’s garden. He is second road back from the beach so it might be breezy!! (Thanks for the weather forecast Sar53 )

Back home this evening for Roast Pork, Call The Midwife and Line of Duty...

It’ll be quite nippy outside though, I’ve no doubt about that, yesterday afternoon was biting cold coming off the North Sea no doubt.. must make the most of the sunshine though perhaps it’ll heat up a little we’ve a good hot spot out in the garden. I’m afraid I didn’t sleep too well last night and himself had several jumping around dreams he said he was chasing someone and his legs were going like the clappers. He hadn’t done that in a while perhaps it was because this household had a bit of a meltdown yesterday we’re needing our weekend breaks away from each other and It can’t come soon enough.
Hey ho today’s another day there’s good times to come.

Life sounds almost back to normal for you Mick. I think masks may become the new normal and an awareness of other people’s proximity.
My oldest school friend has been back in the UK from the US for a few months, in Cambridge. We were due to meet up just as lockdown began again but have finally arranged to have a pub lunch with them today. It will be a chance to meet her new husband and catch up on the news. What to wear? That’s the dilemma!
I’m glad you had support with your doctor Harrigran and the problem is resolved.

I am horrified Harrigran that your surgery should create such problems. Sometimes I feel my surgery can’t wait til I pop my clogs, but I hope they’ll have a long wait!!
Nothing Planned apart from virtual church and dog walking- what is the problem with your dog having breathing problems dragonfly? Ours often sneezes, I often wonder if she’s allergic to us!!

We're doing well with the fine weather but there's still that nip in the air coming off the sea, it's so open here----not complaining mind you.

For the past few of days I've smelt a " bonfire " smell in the air, surely to goodness my ant-eater senses can't detect the fires in NI from here ? It's in the atmosphere as opposed to the neighbour's closer wood-burner. I don't know what to think, as it's about 300 miles away----as the crow flies
Me and my proboscis ! I think I was a sniffer dog in my last life.

Chicken roasted yesterday and peas soaked last night so that's the menu for today, with roast pots and new of course. I'll enjoy that later. Looking forward to the crumpets shortly.

Never a lot going on on a Sunday at the best of times and being as it's so quiet everywhere I daren't even think about getting the hoover out, it would waken the dead.

I'm usually on the ball when it comes to detecting work but Ashcombe's eggshell has got me beaten , how it got there will remain a mystery.

I couldn't believe the way harrigran was treated over the medication, it was dreadful and shouldn't have happened. Hope they've now got the message.

Whether our local eateries will still be operating I don't know as two have outdoor facilities normally but up to now there's no sign of life in either. Mick reminded me talking about his local cafes. I usually see one of our GN's there with friend's and have joined in on a couple of occasions. We'll see.

Yesterday started off warm and we had breakfast in the garden. By afternoon, when the tide turned, it was absolutely freezing! ?.

Ashcombe sorry to hear you had a migraine yesterday. Hope you feel much better today ?

Harrigran you don’t need more stress. The receptionists can be so unhelpful. My DH is struggling to get results of blood tests taken a month ago. Just cannot get through to a doctor.

Sar the baby ballet is so sweet. My DD started at 3 and went right through to Dance college . She loved every minute of it. Her two daughters didn’t take to it though - much to her disappointment. ?

Well our hoped -for lazy day didn’t quite transpire. We started taking the masking tape off the windows of the summerhouse and found that the sun had baked it on and it was stuck firm, so what should have been a five minute job turned out to be a couple of hours. It was so sticky , almost like superglue. A bowl of warm soapy water, white spirit and elbow grease eventually did the trick.

A day of clearing out the potting shed and the dumping ground that is our large bike/mowers/tools/paints/ladders shed along with other junk.

Good morning. Lovely and sunny here in Cheshire. Did lots of outside jobs yesterday so pleased with myself. By "outside jobs" I mean sweeping , washing window sills etc. I am not a gardener and to me it feels like outside housework ! DH does the garden and I potter.
Urmstongran - your menu amused me as I , too , always do cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes when we have gammon ! These foods just seem to go together.
May see DS as DIL taking the GC to visit her parents leaving DS with and "empty" as Marydoll would say !

Harri, I'm glad to hear you have your sister to support you. A shocking state of affairs that your poor husband has to suffer like this. My GP practice isn't much better, they have barely supported me at all, during shielding. I feel very let down, by my GP who used to be so supportive.
I'm another one, who thinks life is not getting back to normal just yet. Complacency is just going to keep this virus going.

I'm exhausted this morning, due to DH's restlessness. I hardly got a wink of sleep. A wee bit worried about him, he has been like this for a while and is exceptionally grumpy!! Its so unlike him. ☹

We had a surprise visit from DD and SIL yesterday, not to see us, but to cadge lunch and use our facilities to prepare for their stay in a wigwam next week. It is in the middle of nowhere, near where the famous red phone box in Local Hero was filmed. SIL plans to surprise his sister in the USA by phoning her from it. ?
It's DD's birthday and the anniversary of their engagement.

They had cycled on their new bikes to DS2's new home early yesterday morning and took photos of themselves in different parts of the garden. After sneaking off, they sent the photos to DS. Thank goodness they did, the ping on his phone had wakened DS, who was on call and had slept in. He was not at all amused at their antics! ?

Thinking of all our missing friends and the many who have mountains to climb daily. ?

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another sunny day here. Yesterday was beautiful after early clouds. I walked with a friend then we had lunch at our village pub. Later I had a garden visit from other friends returning my power washer.
Today is ironing and gardening. I have some summer bulbs to plant but I held them back because of the heavy frosts. Fingers crossed I’m not too late with them.
Sorry to hear your GP struggles Harri. It’s disgraceful.

Good Morning, Mick and All, we're having yet another sunny day here in Carlisle. We get our driest weather in April, May and early June, usually. After that it's often all downhill in the rain department. Best to take your Lake District holidays earlier for the best chance of decent weather.
I'm awaiting the arrival of some flatpack storage stuff today and this week. I shall have to put it together which I can normally do if it's relatively small stuff. It's just cheapish stuff to last me in the house until mid-August. That's how long I'm having to wait for the delivery of 'proper' furniture...wardrobes, chests etc. I don't want to live with my suitcases and tasteful arrangements of cardboard boxes till then!
harrigran , your surgery's attitude was appalling. I don't know how they could refuse your DH essential drugs. Stress like that you do not need on top of what you get now. Hopefully that problem is now resolved .
Ashcombe, I sympathise as one who has suffered vicious migraines all her adult life until recent years. Never could reliably plan an outing. At least it didn't happen today so you can now enjoy your church service .

Good morning all from a cloudy Northampton. Just sitting with a cat who has taken up residence on my lap, and a mug of tea. Wondering what to do today........

Sat outside in the sun yesterday morning with coffee and the crossword, then pottered in the garden in the afternoon and ended up in the summerhouse following the rugby on the radio. A nail-biting final few minutes, but we held on for a win against our arch-rivals Leicester Tigers.

Will probably end up in the summerhouse again this afternoon, anything to avoid sitting in the house. It's nice to just sit and watch the birds. Will take the papers out and a new book.

Mick it's a shame about your cafes, but I'm sure things will gradually settle down into a "new normal". Glad you're feeling a bit more like it today Grandmattie. I was wondering how your DS was and glad he's relatively safe and contained in the mountains. I hope your migraine didn't linger, Ash - unlike the eggshell in your bra ?. Lovely to hear the baby ballet stories. Strangely my DGD who is shortly going off to dance college didn't take to that at all but instead was a very accomplished gymnast from an early age - until she discovered modern dance. Mind you I don't think DD introduced her to dance as she herself had preferred gymnastics!
Like everyone else on here, I am horrified by the problems you are having Harrigran and glad something has been sorted out now.
I am off shortly to drive to Perth to meet up with DD for an hour or so. I think I may go the cross country route for a change of scenery, and then come back along the river - it will be a beautiful drive anyway. And a lovely little 'escape'.

It was almost like a June day yesterday, so warm and sunny. Took Mum over to DD, and we had a walk around the fields in her village. The dog enjoyed himself!

We have plans today! Painting the kitchen walls . We have someone coming tomorrow to fit blinds in the kitchen and dining room, so thought we had better get on with painting the kitchen.

We didn’t do our walk yesterday as DH was a bit out of sorts after his second one jab on Friday. Seems fine today.
Just had a message from DD3 to ask if they can pop over for a couple of hours this afternoon. This is their last weekend before the new baby on Friday.
Later on we are off to DD1 for a take-away in their garden.

Good morning from Durham. Looks like another fine day.

I’m confined to barracks this weekend having the decorators here - they’re doing half the house. All upstairs rooms, plus the hall, stairs and landing - so I had to sleep in the sofa last night!!
Thankfully Gardener 3 did turn up (others let me down) on Friday, and is able to do fortnightly visits - he says he’s been swamped by requests and can’t take on any more work. I know a politician made a crass statement about Covid - but a lot of businesses have found extra work during lockdown.

Good morning from West York's,we had a lovely afternoon with son and family plus year old dog, think our neighbours had their peace and quiet disturbed( it is usually very quiet here )three children do make a lot of noise ?.it was a bit upsetting when talking to youngest saying he really missed cousins etc due to corona ? We have been invited to Dd for outside meal today don't know what we are having I am making a red fruit crumble to take Gg will enjoy that .Hope everyone finds a?.Take care .
