Cherry tree from the front garden!

Pittcity Wed 28-Apr-21 07:48:47

Good morning from a grey but still dry Colchester.
Wrapping up and taking my brolly and deckchair to the park for our weekly meetup. The garden desperately needs rain but not until the afternoon please!
I've begun to put things in the diary for the Summer. It feels so odd making plans again.

Love and hugs for all x

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. Its not very warm today and I couldn't get warm at all yesterday.

Great news from Kate! I hope Roses' procedure wasn't too unpleasant and stressful.
Brook how lovely to for you to see your family again. Your family must have been delighted when you stepped of that train.

I'm so glad yesterday's mammogram is over! I was the first customer of the day and had to stand in the pouring rain, outside the mobile unit, until one minute before my appointment! That wasn't a good idea, as it took me ages to get up the steep, wet metal staircase! ?
Not surprisingly, given the present situation, the staff seemed to be very stressed and had no time for pleasantries. The first words barked at me were, Sanitise your hands!!!

There was an amusing moment when my hair got stuck in the plates of the x-ray machine! ? I hadn't realised it was so long. ? Hence the over zealous hair cut last night, which I am now deeply regretting! ? I do, however, look so much younger. About ten years old!
No fancy photos from me today. The attached photo, which looks like a dead animal, shows the chopped of hair of DD and myself!

I was looking forward to two medical telephone consultations today, one at 9am and one at 1.30pm. The lunch time one, to discuss my Alendronic Acid infusion, has just been cancelled for the third time! Due to Covid, it's nearly two years overdue? The specialist has had to self isolate, after being in contact with Covid! This is why we can't be complacent and still need to be vigilant.

The virus certainly hasn't gone away!!! I received a pack of lateral flow tests yesterday, courtesy of the Scottish Govt. I think this is an excellent idea, especially once I'm allowed to go to actual physical hospital appointments. They are now available to all in Scotland.
For people who are out and about all the time, especially if they use public transport, should consider availing themselves of this facility. It helps to keep them and others they come in contact safe.
My hairdresser told me that they are all tested twice a week at our local asymptomatic testing centre. Very reassuring.

I'm absolutely dreading the 9am appointment. ?
Then if I am brave enough, I'm going to do battle with my surgery over my second jab. Wish me luck, I will need it to brave the dragon's den.

Thinking of all our dear friends and their families, who are struggling and of course, all our missing friends. ?

Good morning from cloudy Derbyshire. We've had some rain, not enough really, but it'll do for now.

Well I missed everything going on here yesterday! As we went out for the day quite early I couldn't keep up with the posts minute by minute as I usually do, so when I looked again later in the day I saw all the deleted posts so have no idea what it was all about, although it's clear it was unpleasant. Perhaps just as well I missed it all.

We enjoyed most of our day yesterday. The walk had its ups and downs, literally! I always say to DH when he's planning the walk - no steep climbs as I don't enjoy them - I soon realised as we started walking he hadn't taken much notice of that as we descended very steeply for a long way down to the river and I knew we would have to go back up at some point! A very steep climb through a wooded area! The photo shows the river Lathkill which we had been walking alongside a few minutes earlier. A pub lunch and some shopping later helped save the day.

Good news for you Gagagran. Hope DD's interview goes well.
Also good news for NanKate to put your mind at rest.
Nice to see Lins posting again too.

Have a good Wednesday everyone.

NannyJan53 Wed 28-Apr-21 08:02:59

Good mornng from a drizzly Black Country, where it rained overnight. The garden does need it.

MrJ had his 2nd jab yesterday. I have mne 10th May. We looked round the Sofa shop in Solihull yesterday. We have chosen the sofa, but cannot decide on the colour and material. Do we go for a bold colour or lighter and Linen or Velvet. Decisions, decisions!

Arrived home and I made Nigella's Marzipan Loaf cake.

I can feel your relief NanKate

No real plans today, probably housework and ironing

Thinking of all who are struggling.

brook2704 Wed 28-Apr-21 08:03:54

Such good news nankate I’m so pleased for you!
Hope the tests go ok for your DH today harrigran and things can still progress on Friday ?

Dwmxwg Wed 28-Apr-21 08:05:11

Beauregard Lathkill dale is where I saw dippers for the first time. We do love the Peak District and have a cottage booked for July

Urmstongran Wed 28-Apr-21 08:11:10

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s mild enough because of the white cloud cover keeping us warm. No wind so the trees around us are still.

I don’t know what the forecast is but it’s of no relevance today as we are taking a small grocery shop over to my stepfather later. He wants to go to the bank so we will drive him there then go into his for an hour for a wee dram.

Hope Wednesday is kind to us all and that your procedure went well yesterday Roses. x

Stilllearning Wed 28-Apr-21 08:14:03

Morning from S Lanarkshire, sky quite bright so that’s good.
Good news NanKate, so pleased for you.
Once again I enjoyed the pictures yesterday, your new blinds are lovely NannyJan!

I just heard Judy Murray recommending one of my lockdown exercise finds, Happy Mile, on YouTube, it really lifted my spirits in the depths of winter.

My youngest grandson’s sixth’s birthday today. He has been totally hyper for weeks, could think of nothing better than being 6. He asked his 8 year old sister how she she thought she would feel, having a brother who is six, talk about ‘all about me’!
I can hardly believe that this is his second birthday that I am not there for but like last year I have a little cake and candle which I will blow out when he blows out his, thank goodness for FaceTime.

Remembering as always, all who need special thoughts and support, hope everyone has a good day.

Anniebach Wed 28-Apr-21 08:15:39

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

amselerin Wed 28-Apr-21 08:16:56

Good morning all from chilly but sunny Lueneburg. I was happy to read that lots of you could enjoy some rain. Here we are desperately waiting for some rain.. Usually it happens a day or two after your rain, I shall go into the garden to do some more weeding, I enjoy it. Then I shall go into the cellar to do some clearing out and putting the things,I intend to to take to Britain, into one cellar room (the cellar is partly above ground level with large windows). Once a month our goods for the tip are collected - furniture, carpets, , fridges etc by the council. The day before we have lots of vans (with polish registration numbers mostly) collecting what they find useful. I think that is good, as the local tip is getting larger and larger. We have become a "throw away society". I love asparagus as well, grandMattie. We mostly have white asparagus here, I paid 9 Euro a kg, but when it gets warmer the price drops. You have to peel the white asparagus though. Well, I hope sheepcattle has had lots of rain.
Have a good day all and no worries. Take care.

Sar53 Wed 28-Apr-21 08:16:58

Good morning from Essex by the sea where the sun has just come out. No rain here so far.
Great news Kate ?, sorry you had a bad night GG, take it easy today.
DD2 has asked me to go and stay with my two granddaughters in Kent whilst they go to a much postponed wedding in July. I hope it goes ahead this time as she booked a hotel for them yesterday.
DH is off to his boat today, I have a big pile of ironing to tackle.
Have a lovely day and find that ? xx

baubles Wed 28-Apr-21 08:18:54

Good morning Mick, morning all from cool and cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Good news Kate, hope you recover from your rotten night GG and thanks for the Iris update gM. Enjoy your day Brook, sounds like you’re having a smashing time. Freddie is a beauty Dwm

Busy day here, what with shopping delivery, eyebrow tinting, visiting DD’s garden then my second vaccine this evening. To think there was a time I could have squeezed all that around a day at work.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. ?

Grammaretto Wed 28-Apr-21 08:19:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Heavy rain earlier but it's stopped now. I hope it's enough for the garden.
I've been invited to lunch, outdoors, with the friend who has adopted 3 orphan lambs.
???
I noticed a lot of deleted posts yesterday. I hope that's over now.
Very good news NanKate and relief for Cornergran and Roses
Isn't it exciting when your DC find the job of their dreams.gagagran

Our 4 haven't had it easy through lockdown and have worries ahead. DS2 job comes to an end in June. DS1 will have to go back to work abroad.

Wishing you all a happy day.

Greyduster Wed 28-Apr-21 08:23:15

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s cool and overcast in South Yorkshire and has rained in the night, to add to what we had yesterday afternoon. We need it so bring it on. A quietish day of pottering about today. We cleaned the oven yesterday so I feel we’ve achieved enough! Also went to the garden centre and bought some lovely plants, but too early to put them out yet so the conservatory is getting very crowded!
Beauregard I know Lathkill Dale very well - we were last there in the Autumn; and also know your ups and downs. We tend to stick to the lower ground these days!
Have a happy day, one and all.

Elizabeth1 Wed 28-Apr-21 08:29:02

Good morning everyone from a gorgeous sunny start to the day here on the east coast of Fife.I imagine it’s a tad cold though. Second vaccine today for me. Yesterday was the best day ever we got lovely boases aka cuddles from 2 wee excited boys yesterday. We’ve nearly didn’t make it to Aberdeenshire my DH realised he’d forgotten his wallet and we needed petrol luckily he went to someone close by whom he knew and borrowed £30 what an ordeal we had in finding him.

Our wee grandsons were so excited to see us whether it was the jelly babies or us but it could’ve been bothwink another adventurous day for us a zoom to start with then carer support to make lunch, who knows what’s next perhaps lunch in the garden followed by wrapping up daughters birthday presents for when we next visit Aberdeenshire.

There’s no halting us now. Have a wonderful day you lovely folk out there keep safe and still dae as yer telt. shamrock

dragonfly46 Wed 28-Apr-21 08:31:01

Amselerin I love white asparagus. We can get it here from Ocado.

ginny Wed 28-Apr-21 08:32:57

Good morning.
We had a small amount of rain yesterday and some forecast today. Luckily our committee meeting yesterday was under a large gazebo with a roof, chilly but dry.
Nothing planned today so will see what unfolds.
Thoughts are with all who have worries or troubles. Hope everyone finds a ?.

grandMattie Wed 28-Apr-21 08:33:36

Beau, I was one of a slew of complainants yesterday. So pleased that the posters have be banned! The posts were irrelevant, but more than that, designed to shock by their sexual crudeness and frankly revolting, especially on a gentle, kind and compassionate thread like this one.

Grandmabatty Wed 28-Apr-21 08:37:53

Good morning all. It's dry in Polmont but chilly at 3°. This has been a very cold April so I hope May is warmer. Good news for Nankate! My sil is still waiting to hear when he has to go for an endoscopy and biopsy. I hope Roses is alright after her experience.
Today is my usual Wednesday. I'll visit mum, then a friend then a WhatsApp chat in the afternoon. That takes up most of the day. In between I'll potter. Have a good day all.

LauraNorder Wed 28-Apr-21 08:40:42

Good morning Mick and all from dull and overcast Anglesey. I think we had a tiny sprinkling of rain overnight but not nearly enough.
Better put my Barry White cd on and do some rain dancing. I see we have some more frosty nights to come brrrr.
Haven’t read through yet but did notice that beautiful little puppy. I want one.
Have a good day all ??, I’ll leave the sunshine out of my wishes today as we all seem to be in need of rain.
??cupcake

Alygran Wed 28-Apr-21 08:40:58

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy so far. We have had some rain late yesterday and overnight so hopefully the garden will begin to recover.
I went for a walk in Richmond yesterday. It was very peaceful walking by the river.
Good news Nankate
Hope your DH gets sorted for Friday Harri
I have a call to make to the bank this morning. I am the treasurer of a charity and we have things to sort out. An ongoing saga from February last year!
Hope everyone has a good day. Stay safe.

Grandmajean Wed 28-Apr-21 08:42:14

CherryCezzy Wed 28-Apr-21 08:48:48

Good morning everyone from the Gower. Very grey and windy today and it doesn't look like we had that rain that was forecast overnight ?.

I hope that bad night feeling eases GrannyGravy, I didn't sleep well last night either even though my neighbour was quiet ?. Drat!
More garage clearing on the agenda today and another trip to the dump. Where does it all come from ?. More paperwork to sign off this afternoon re. our new kitchen walks away shaking head Why does everything seem to be in triplicate ?. Asking myself too many questions today ?

Love the cherry tree Gwenisgreat ?.
Sounds like you're having a wonderful time brook. Nothing like seeing loved ones ?

Kalu Wed 28-Apr-21 08:51:14

Good morning from a sunny Glasgow as I write but scant sunny intervals for most of the day ahead.

Fabulous news NanKate.......and breathe! ?

A day of footering about looking for something interesting to keep me occupied today. A sigh of relief as GD1 awaits the results of her maths exam which she sat on Monday. She tells me she feels pretty confident she did well. ?

Have a pleasant day all and hopefully a better day ahead for all who need some respite from whatever is troubling you.
