Ah I thought I felt a draught. That’s you creeping in behind me Urms.
Happy birthday to Mr Urms for tomorrow. 69, I remember it well......well just about. ?
I’ll be round in a minute, fish and chips and mushy peas for me too, please. ?

Grandmabatty Thu 06-May-21 19:26:16

Urmstongran save a bit of Battenburg for me! I love it. It is a nice evening here and I have continued to be lazy. Nannandgrampy that sounds like a very difficult visit for you. It's kind of you to help out. JaxJacky I've just ordered a small greenhouse from Amazon and it should arrive Monday/Tuesday. That'll sort out my tomato seedlings.

Jaxjacky Thu 06-May-21 20:11:47

Happy Birthday Mr Urms ???

Galen Thu 06-May-21 20:40:20

cornergran Thu 06-May-21 22:12:06

Happy birthday to mr urms for tomorrow, Enjoy every moment.

Wonder where they went galen. Maybe just with you for a rest.

Take care everyone, especially soop. TOYA.

Lins1066 Thu 06-May-21 22:17:51

Just popping in to wish Mr Urms a very Happy Birthday ??

Charleygirl5 Thu 06-May-21 22:42:24

soop the ironing will wait- I have not touched an iron for many years now. At least you are back home and can relax.

Doodle he is returning tomorrow- but hopefully in the afternoon. He is updating and adding to my security CCTV system but it is getting a bit beyond this birdbrain. He is a perfectionist- many a fellow would have walked away and left me to it.

Today with his open-door system, front and back, I ended up switching off the heating- little point in heating the great outdoors. Towards the end of his stay here he was learning but I was frozen by then.
TOYA

Nannytopsy Fri 07-May-21 00:01:50

? n&g - difficult times.
Rest soop !
DH got good marks for progress with his legs. Slow but sure.
Sleep tight everyone. ?

Grandmabatty Fri 07-May-21 07:41:33

Urmstongran I was so busy thinking about Battenburg cake, I forgot to say happy birthday to himself. I hope he had a nice time.

Nannytopsy Fri 07-May-21 09:29:15

Shame about the ducks Galen.
My tulips from a certain lady gardener’s collection! I think the dry weather has stunted them a bit.

soop Fri 07-May-21 12:03:28

Dear N&G Your help at this worrying time will be hugely appreciated. It is very sad news. flowers

Blated birthday greetings to Mr Urms. I'm willing to bet that he's scoffed nibbled away at the Battenburg cake. Not a crumb shared with us lot wink

Doodle Show us your hair cut. Isn't it an uplifting experience after months of pinning it this way and that and still managing to look freakish? That's me. Not you. x

soop Fri 07-May-21 12:12:59

Galen I blame Garry for the moving on of those beautiful ducks. Have you had a word with him? hmm

Nannytopsy your tulips looks most attractive in the pretty blue container.
I am pleased that your husband came away from seeing the specialist with brownie points for the progress he's made with the leg ulcers. They can be vicious blighters if not treated kindly.

Charleygirl I haven't thoroughly warmed up for several days. That chilly wind is keeping me indoors yet again.

I may have misunderstood...*Mr Urms* may be celebrating his 69th birthday today. If so, many happy returns of the day. I'm trusting that Doodle hasn't misled me.

soop Fri 07-May-21 12:14:51

So far, so good. No aches in the muscles. In fact, I feel upbeat and ready to enjoy the weekend.

Susan56 Fri 07-May-21 12:28:05

Glad you are feeling upbeat soop and no aches?

Henry has been asleep for two hours but is starting to wake up so I will be back later to read what everyone has been up to.

Puzzler61 Fri 07-May-21 13:49:36

A belated Happy Birthday ? ? to Mr Urmst.
Sitting outside to drink and eat is not for the faint-hearted with the cold gusts of wind. As a friend said “it’s ok if you’re drinking alcohol as the more you drink, the warmer you get”.
? I hope he had a lovely Day.
Hello soop it’s good you are recovering your va va vroom. Maybe all your energy was being sapped by your long hair? Now it’s cut you will regain your strength
I’ve read about more haircuts too - Doodle may we see yours please? From the back is fine.

Grandmabatty I love the smell and the taste of tomatoes growing in a greenhouse. I hope you have a bumper crop. ?
Sorry but Battenburg is not on my list of fave cakes but they do look pretty. ?
A lemon drizzle cake ..... now you’re talking, but I know we’re all different.
Charleygirl glad to hear you are having safety features installed in your abode. Hopefully you let the man go home and didn’t keep him working all night? ?
Have a very good day all kitchen peeps.
Hi ?‍♀️ to Maw and Grandmafrench if you are reading.
Missing your input to this lovely kitchen.
?

Puzzler61 Fri 07-May-21 14:01:37

Happy pansy (viola) faces turning to the sun in the garden today.

Grandmabatty Fri 07-May-21 14:10:42

Puzzler61 I'm making a lemon drizzle cake this afternoon as dd spoke about it and I'll see her tomorrow with dgs. I like that as well as Battenburg. In fact, I like all cake! Soop I'm glad you are feeling upbeat. You certainly sound chirpier. Nannytopsy those tulips are gorgeous. Right! Off to make soup and cake.

Nannytopsy Fri 07-May-21 16:32:16

I like Battenberg and lemon drizzle cake ( she said hopefully)

Jaxjacky Fri 07-May-21 17:25:25

Hi all, just showered and washed hair, it’s being cut AGAIN tomorrow, since it had a prune a few weeks ago it’s grown with renewed vigour, the top needs thinning, I’m blessed with thick hair. I had a man today (you’re not the only one *Charleygirl!), to help dig over the allotment, I also asked him to turn my friend’s too. This friend had a hernia op six weeks ago and has been fretting with a part he couldn’t do; the very lovely French man worked for six hours and has made a remarkable difference. I couldn’t have done so much in treble the time and I do want to utilise it this year, money well spent, Mr J has little interest and works damn hard anyway.
What pretty flowers Puzzler and NannyTopsy, I hope I’ll have some pictures to post when the back garden is sorted. soop you must be the opposite of Samson having his hair cut, gaining strength instead of losing it. You’re all safe with your cake, I’m building up to a ?instead. I hope Mr and Mrs panache are still getting the required help and respite.
I too miss Maw I’ll send a wave ?. ttfn all.

Yiayia4 Fri 07-May-21 17:39:29

All this talk of cake and I’m trying to be good?
Pleased your infusion went O.K Soop and no side effects ?
Have had a couple of bad nights pain wise and struggling a bit but have stronger painkillers from G.P until I see the rheumatologist. We did food shopping today and then have been doing my diamond art.I’m doing an Arsenal football scene for my grandsons birthday it’s the hardest yet! His birthday is the 16th and lots to do yet!
Have a pleasant Friday evening everyone.

Blossoming Fri 07-May-21 17:46:16

Hello all, I’ve not had much chance to visit the kitchen this week. I love hearing about all these hair dos and seeing that lovely picture of Soop. It will be 2 weeks since my 2nd jab on Sunday, so I’m going to try and get hold of my hairdresser next week, I’m sporting an updo at the moment, it looks OK but I really need the remains of the highlights cutting off! I haven’t had it cut for over a year now.

soop Fri 07-May-21 17:47:36

Woohoo! Son and his lovely girlfriend are planning to visit us at the end of May. They will be borrowing a friend's camper van and will be able to park on the beach-standing opposite, or in our drive. Tickled pink!

Puzzler Violas have the sweetest faces. I love them.

Susan Us lot like news of our wee Henry. A day time nap is such a blessing for you both.

Grandmabatty Lemon drizzle cake...yes, please. I have to confess to having gained a dress size during the past year. Shocking, I call it. Mr Snoop says that he loves me whatever, and being a dress size larger is most certainly not worth the worry. grin

Jax A photo of the hair do when you can manage it please. Us lot are nosy. wink

A cloudless sky. A chilly wind. Wishing that Fern may decide to make our day and wander by for some TLC (in the shape of a bowl full of prime cat food).

Enjoy your Friday evening. G&T for a treat at nine of the clock.

Until we meet again tomorrow. smile moon

soop Fri 07-May-21 17:50:19

Yia and Blossoming, our posts crossed. It's good to have your company in our kitchen.
Photos of the cake, Yia, and your hair do, Blossoming would be lovely. sunshine
