Good morning, Mick and all who follow from a beautiful bright, morning in Torbay!

I wish I felt the same! Overnight, a sore throat that wasn’t soothed by a Stresspill (sic) has left me with a dilemma. Should I go ahead with my second vaccination, booked for this afternoon? I will seek advice from my GP Practice later.

What happy news from B9exchange yesterday evening after the angst of recent times! Warm congratulations to her and her family. ?

I hope the sun is shining wherever you are this morning! ☀️? ?

grandMattie Thu 29-Apr-21 06:35:38

Good morning from another brightening day in E Kent. Not a drop of rain here... I swear that the clouds part on approaching us!
Yes, what fabulous news B9, so different to the first time. The happy couple must be feeling somewhat shell-shocked!
Ultimate Spanish class for thus session, next one in October. Normally we arrange for a nice little present for our tutor and have a little fiesta. Hoy? Nada!
Some gardening yesterday has left me sore. I can’t really bend over as it exacerbates my reflux, so I squat. I’m ok with that for a short time after which my elderly knees start complaining ?. Never mind, I managed to replant the two tubs by the front door. Not often very successful as some insect makes holes in every single type of plant I put in them. This time I’ve planted sage, rosemary and thyme - no parsley, but might interplant with geraniums.
Have a smiling day ?with lots of metaphorical sunshine. Throw in a few flowers ?? and flamingos ? ???for perfection. (The flamingo ?ignorant can see a post from me yesterday explaining)

Gagagran Thu 29-Apr-21 06:39:10

Morning all from a bright but cool south coast. My rain dance did produce very light showers on, and mainly off, yesterday, but every little helps as someone once said! 4.3c this morning on my weather station with a high of 13c and dry forecast for this afternoon.

It's DD's interview today for a new and permanent job at a different university from her present research role at a different one. The funding for her research is due to run out in September and she is fed up of the uncertainty around seeking a new grant to carry it on. I have my fingers crossed.

The excitement here continued yesterday when the outside tap, which for a few days has had a small leak from the joint suddenly decided to show us it was serious and started a much bigger leak. DH rang the lovely CH engineer, who is coming to fit our new CH boiler in June, and he came almost immediately, and put a new tap on for us. Cost £72. (ow!)

Nothing on our agenda for today but I am not holding my breath as things keep turning up!

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

LauraNorder Thu 29-Apr-21 06:42:47

Good morning all from dry and sunny Anglesey. Just wanted to come on and say how much I have grown to care about so many of you and I wish you well in the future.
I’ve decided to have a long break from Gransnet as I’m getting in to very bad habits.
Cheerio for now.

Ashcombe Thu 29-Apr-21 06:49:31

We shall miss you, LauraNorder especially your sense of humour, but you must do what feels right for you. Hope it’s not too long a sabbatical. ?

baubles Thu 29-Apr-21 06:52:25

Good morning Mick, morning all from cold but sunny South Lanarkshire.

I’ve missed B9’s news so I’ll go back to yesterday’s thread to catch up.

Hope you feel better Ash and are able to have your vaccine. I had my second dose yesterday and feel fine once more. I was lucky enough not to suffer any side effects last time.

Your poor knees Mattie but your planted tubs sound lovely.

DH and I are going for a mooch around the West End of Glasgow today, we will take coffee and buy a sandwich somewhere and plan to eat sitting on a bench in the Botanic Gardens. It’s a favourite place as we lived in the area a long time ago.

Sad news yesterday, one of my Uncles died, he was the brother in law of my mother and I was so fond of him. The older generation of my family is dwindling.

Hoping today brings a ? or two for everyone.

nanna8 Thu 29-Apr-21 06:54:00

Bye for now Laura. See you later I hope. It is an absolutely beautiful day here, warm and very sunny so we drove down to Warburton through the lovely countryside and had lunch at one of the cafes there. Then we went for a walk by the river there and watched all the birds and wildlife around.

Sar53 Thu 29-Apr-21 06:55:52

Good morning everyone from a slowly brightening Essex by the sea. We still haven't had any rain although it is forecast for later.
Shopping this morning, nothing much else planned.
DH cracked his head on his boat yesterday, he has a big gash on the top and very little hair to absorb the blow. He's woken up this morning with a splitting headache, I do wonder if he concussed himself. I've left him to sleep.
DD1 had her first jab yesterday. She told me that DGD3 was the runner up in a drawing competition at school, this was out of 90+ students. A proud nanny here, especially as said granddaughter seems very sad at the moment which is worrying my daughter.
Have a lovely Thursday, take care and find a ? xx

baubles Thu 29-Apr-21 06:57:51

Just read about the safe arrival of your beautiful DGD B9, huge congratulations to you and your family.

Adieu Laura do what you need to do but I hope you’ll be back, even if only occasionally.

dragonfly46 Thu 29-Apr-21 07:00:17

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire. I too was hoping for more rain.
I am up early as the dog has to go to the vets for his pre-op. He is having an op to try and improve his breathing on Monday.

Many congratulations again B9. I understand their reluctance to have pictures posted especially here as it is an open forum.

Wishing everyone a good day.

grandmajet Thu 29-Apr-21 07:02:15

Good morning from a lovely bright day here Nottinghamshire.
I’m sorry that we won’t hear from you for a while, Laura, your posts are always entertaining, but you must do what is right for you. Be careful of those wasps nests!
I had a sleepy day yesterday following my jab on Tuesday.
Today we’re off to a garden centre to buy a few new oxygenating plants for our little wildlife pond which is looking very green.
This afternoon I’m expecting a call from the oncology team, and a zoom chat with old friends. Guess which I’m looking forward to most?!
Good news about the new arrival, B9, it is always an anxious time. You can relax now.
sheep hasn’t sent us any news for a few days. I hope they got some rain to help the grass grow.
Enjoy today, everyone.

Pantglas2 Thu 29-Apr-21 07:04:25

Good morning all from a dry and bright north Wales where I’m enjoying the chamberpot ☕️!

Sorry ? to see you leaving us for a while LauraNorder but I hope you still send me your lovely island weather ?!

It is sad isn’t it Baubles when we lose our parents siblings -my last remaining one on mam’s side died in January and it felt like the end of an era. Made worse of course due to the funeral restrictions but I’m sure you’ll mark the day somehow ?

Will trot along later and read about everyone’s buzziness, stay safe everyone x

Beechnut Thu 29-Apr-21 07:07:34

Good Morning everyone from a bright and frosty Severnside. It’s very cold so I’ve put the heating on.

As Ash says we will miss you LauraNorder enjoy your break.

I need a couple dental jobs doing. The dentist was impressed with my face mask attachment. I’ve got it on clips sewed to ribbon that goes round my neck and hangs like a necklace when It’s not on my face. I can easily move it onto another mask.

I’m going to do some sewing today. I’ve a cushion to make a cover for.

I see there has been some good news for some of you and B9 baby has arrived, I’ve yet to look back and see whether it was a boy or girl.

I like how you live your life Urms. It reminds me of something my brother once said to me.He (and his wife) wanted to live his life as if he was on holiday.

Have a good day all and stay warm and safe ?

Beauregard Thu 29-Apr-21 07:08:29

Good morning from Derbyshire where it's mostly blue sky to start the day.

Congratulations to B9exchange and her family on their new arrival ?

Supermarket for me this morning. DH takes the opportunity while I'm out to go for a walk, but likes to be home in time to put the shopping away when I get back.

Later we'll pick the boys up after school. It will be the last time we take them back to their own house as they are moving in with SiL's family for a few weeks/months before moving again (an hour away) due to his new job, probably in the summer.

Hope everyone has a good day today. Laura don't be away too long!

Kalu Thu 29-Apr-21 07:09:02

Good morning from Glasgow and happy to say, the sun has returned.

I have bought a couple of sweet peas which are safely in the greenhouse until I can put them out knowing there will be be no sign of frost. A very happy eldest GD phoned yesterday to tell us she got 100% for Spanish. Muy bien hecho considering such a year of uncertainties in education and now having to sit important exams. Such pressure on children.

Once the necessary basic housework is attended to, a day in the garden, pottering about, to look forward to, all done at a slower pace now with coffee breaks until another surge of energy lets me get on with another task.

Have a pleasant day all

Dwmxwg Thu 29-Apr-21 07:10:24

Good morning from north Surrey. Another dry, sunny start to the day but we did have some good showers of rain yesterday, hope it rained in Sheep country
Hopefully au revoir LauraNorder
Congratulations to B9exchange to all your family, seeems like we were all waiting and checking in for updates yesterday.
An early start for me this morning, awake since about 4 so got up at 5 and have fed and walked the dog and myself. I have PT at 8 followed by the gym so will try and make sure the boys are mostly ready before I leave so DH doesn’t have too much hassle with the school run.
I have compiled a shopping list for DH so he can go straight from dropping the boys off.
Nursery collection of DGD1 this afternoon and will stay for an hour or so to help with teatime and then back in time for tea, bath and bedtime with the boys. Their favourite programme is on tonight, The Doghouse, so they are allowed to stay up a bit later.
I was going through my diary with my DD yesterday and there is rather a lot of orange over the next few months (I colour code my life! orange is for childcare). Much as I love them all and enjoy spending time with them I think I need to make room for a bit more me/us time. It is all about keeping a balance I guess.
Wishing all a pleasant day today

Ellianne Thu 29-Apr-21 07:11:14

Can't stop, my darling cat has just had a fit like a stroke. I wish the vets would hurry up and open, but he is 15 so there's nothing anyone can do. Amazing life he has had from France to London to Devon sorting out wild boar, urban foxes and seagulls!
Have a nice day.

kittylester Thu 29-Apr-21 07:13:30

Good morning all from a bright ish North Leicestershire.

Up early again as the hall floor is being skimmed today ready for the flooring going down tomorrow - I shall be so glad to get the house put back to rights over the weekend.

Sainsbury's delivery this pm but we might go to the garden centre this morning while the floor dries.

I had my 2nd jab yesterday and feel fine. As it was in Derby, I nipped to see DD1 and had a lovely catch up.

Lovely news B9. Congratulations to all.

brook2704 Thu 29-Apr-21 07:13:48

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s dry with a few grey clouds in the sky
Wonderful news yesterday from B9exchange hope mum and baby are doing well and home soon
Hope you’re well enough for your vaccine Ash but if not, I hope it’s rescheduled soon for you
I had a lovely day yesterday looking around the beautiful botanical gardens, a bit of a chilly wind but it stayed dry. The flowers, trees and plants are really stunning and the big rock garden so pretty. I sat in the outdoor cafe just soaking up the atmosphere and people watching for a while, I really enjoyed it. I’ll have to plan a trip to the Glasgow gardens soon Baubles - I bet they’re lovely too. Sorry to hear about your uncle though.
Today a look around one of the local garden centres and then after school and nursery I’m looking after DGSs whilst DD1 and Sil go out for the first time in ages. DH back home in Inverness seems quite happy - probably enjoying the peace and quiet a bit too much and getting to watch exactly what he wants on the TV!
Thanks for your message lauranorder we’ll miss you here but wish you well.
Wishing your DD best of luck today gaga everything crossed
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings

cornergran Thu 29-Apr-21 07:17:18

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright, chilly corner of Somerset. Enough rain yesterday to produce puddles, thr garden is very pleased.

Some admin this morning and a couple of phone calls to find a charity shop or two accepting donations. We’ll venture forth after lunch. Perhaps manage a walk as well although energy is pretty low.

Congratulations to you all B9. Look after yourself laura. Of course you must do what feels right for you. Have you thought of one of the garden kneelers that is also a low seat grandMattie? One way up mine is a padded kneeler with handles to help me up, turned over it becomes a low seat. Little bending required especially for tubs. Couldn’t garden without it. Poor old soul that I am grin.

Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Ellianne Thu 29-Apr-21 07:20:41

Congratulations B9exchange. Such joy!

Kalu Thu 29-Apr-21 07:25:35

A loving welcome to the world to your new arrival B9. Lovely news.

I was brought up in the West End Baubles and still enjoy frequent visits to the area. Enjoy your day at the Botanic Gardens.

Haste ye back Laura whenever you feel like popping in for a catch up.

Nannagarra Thu 29-Apr-21 07:35:07

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is dry and sunny.
My 2nd vax, on Tuesday, made me sleep for most of yesterday. If that’s the only side effect I have, I’ll consider myself very fortunate. I’m most impressed by the programme and feel very grateful to the many volunteers who’ve been involved.
This afternoon I’m meeting friends for a catch up. We take turns in each other’s gardens: today’s host has a summer house which she’s painted in really vibrant colours and filled with many interesting items. She’s very good at crafts, has a good eye for colour and is a real character.
Presumably today B9exchange will find out and tell us if she has a DGD or DGS. Like others, I kept checking and appreciated the update yesterday.
I’ll really miss LauraNorder’s humour and wit. Hopefully you’ll not be away for too long.
Have the best day you can everyone.
?????

Kalu Thu 29-Apr-21 07:35:07

I meant to say, sorry to hear the sad news of your dear uncle Baubles ? it’s a sad reality when the older generation in our families are no longer with us.
