Good morning from Shropshire where the sun is shining again.

We have our second vaccination this afternoon so it will be a day of faffing about until it’s time to go out.Hoping you feel better Ash and are able to have your vaccination.

Dwm,I colour code my diary too!I agree that we need a balance in life.We look after the children three days a week in term time and two days a week in school holidays. We have a couple of days at home doing the garden etc but have decided next week we will start our tour of hidden Wales as the weeks go by looking after the children which we love and sorting the house and garden and we need/want to make time for us.I bought my husband a book at Christmas, Things you didn’t know about Wales so next week we will start exploring, day trips to start with but hopefully as we get braver about being out and about we will have a few mini breaks.

Cherry, hope that last night was peaceful??

Thinking of all our absent friends and all with illness, treatments and worries about loved ones.

Have a good day all??

Gingster Thu 29-Apr-21 07:44:06

Good morning from a beautifully bright Essex. It feels a bit warmer too ?. So cold again yesterday.

Had our second jabs yesterday and feel fine. Hopefully Ash you will be ok to have yours or be able to book again soon.
Our appointments were very quick , in and out in 10 minutes. Different to last time when we had a day of snow and because other Covid centres had closed, everyone was told to come along to ours. We waited In the snow for 40 minutes. ?

B9 lovely news ??

A biento Laura.

Dwm what a busy life, . ?. Don’t forget to make time for yourself and learn to say ‘No’ sometimes. My good friend was just like you and I told her she would make herself ill - and she did! ?

Sar well done to your GD . Hopefully this will make her happy. My 11yr old GD has been upset by ‘friends’ ostracising her and sending nasty texts. Mum is on the case and is in touch with the school. She has changed tutor groups and is much happier. She is clever, pretty and sporty (I’m not biased) but I think this creates jealousy.

Today we might take the dog for a walk along the river. Hope the swans don’t come too close. ?. Maybe see a ?or two.
Did anyone see Bargain Hunt yesterday. Two metal ??sold for £85 . Bought for £30.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.
????

Nannytopsy Thu 29-Apr-21 07:47:42

Good morning Mick and all his followers. A lovely start to the day in Suffolk and hopefully rain this afternoon. No sign of all my root vegetables. Just like last year, it stopped raining as soon as I planted the seeds. ?
Lovely news B9! and so glad you are reaching the end in the hall Kitty .
Sad news Ellianne.
Goodbye Lauranorder - I think quite a few of us waste a lot of time here. ?
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Greyduster Thu 29-Apr-21 07:48:53

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s fairly bright in South Yorkshire and the sun is shining, but that’s just on one side of the house; it’s very grey and threatening on the other! I won’t look at that side. The smart meter man cometh this morning to do his stuff - we hope. Last time they came they could only fit one meter so DH sent them away and told them to come back when they could do both. We’ll see what happens today. Other than that, nothing planned but a bit of food shopping and ironing.
I second Corner’s comments about the garden kneeler - couldn’t manage without mine.
Congratulations on your new grandchild B9! Joys to come!
Have a good day everyone.

Gelisajams Thu 29-Apr-21 07:49:53

Good morning all from a frosty Morecambe Bay. Poor plants really don’t like this. It’s torture for them.
Do come back after a break Laura we will miss you.
Sorry you have succumbed to the lurgy Ashcombe hope you can get your vaccination out of the way. DH is on antibiotics for a severe attack of sinusitis. Where are these bugs coming from when we are still all masked and sanitised?
Lots of baby news at the moment. Hope all goes well.
I’m off to cut grass today then maybe squeeze in a quick trip to the garden centre.
Take care and stay safe everyone ???

Nannagarra Thu 29-Apr-21 07:50:57

A baby girl! Congratulations to all B9.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-Apr-21 08:01:30

Morning Mick and all

The sun is shining , still a nip in the air and showers forecast for later(I do hope so as the gardens and fields are parched)

Cleaners in today, so I hide in my kitchen with iPad, a latte and This Morning ??

Mind you this time 10 years ago I was clearing up the debris of DD 18th birth party, with the TV on quietly so as not to wake up the sore heads watching the run-up to Williams & Catherine’s wedding.

Hope to see you back when you are ready LauraNorder Enjoy your new GD B9

Hope you are able to have your second vaccine Ashcombe

(Drat cleaners just sent text they have cancelled for the second day (should have been here yesterday) I am not happy ??

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Party4 Thu 29-Apr-21 08:12:34

Morning all from a cold grey West Yorks with threat of rain.
Congratulations B9 on the safe arrival of your GC welcome to the world little one.
Still have contents of loft to sort through, must be ruthless as when the time comes (hopefully not for a few yrs yet)our DSs will be grateful for our efforts. In this disposable world where younger generations appear to replace on reg basis the sentiment of items doesnt exist and modern housing does not give storage space for sentiment.
Will be an emotional exercise for me recall such happy times, where have those yrs gone.
Will not even attempt the boxes of photos, isnt enough hours in day !!!
Click and collect order to finish tonight and that's as exciting as life gets today.
Hope life is good to you all today.Take care folks

Pittcity Thu 29-Apr-21 08:13:42

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another cold, dry day here. The hose will be out again later. Not a drop of rain here for ages.
Laundry this morning and first haircut for 15 months this afternoon. I have decided not to grow it any longer and that a few layers would be welcome.

Much love to everyone x

Jaxjacky Thu 29-Apr-21 08:22:26

Good morning Mick and all from sunshiney S Hants, but we had some rain yesterday with a drop more overnight, even more would be welcomed. B9 a granddaughter and all well, congratulations to all. Laura, you will be missed.
Mr J finished off an intricate tiled path yesterday morning, different from his usual kitchens and bathrooms, picture attached, he enjoyed it. As all the customers neighbours admired it, there’ll be more I think. We went out last night, out-side, boy it was cold, 6.5, lovely food, but not a leisurely meal. Potting on today in the greenhouse, everything is slower this year with the weather. Have a gentle day all, maybe a peek of ? or ??.

Lins1066 Thu 29-Apr-21 08:25:09

Good morning Mick and all from a dry and bright S Welsh coast.
Hope your dog's operation is successful dragonfly. Hope your car will be ok Ellianne.
I'm sorry about your uncle baubles and echo Kalu's comments.
Nothing much on the cards here today except our cleaner is coming this morning.
Best wishes to LauraNorder.
Stay safe everyone.

Marydoll Thu 29-Apr-21 08:25:37

I posted on yesterday's by mistake!!!! I'm not having a good day at all!!! ?

Good morning all from a cold, but sunny Glasgow.

Laura, sorry to hear you are having a break, but you must do what's best for you. Hope to see you posting again the future.
Baubles, I'm so envious. ? A West End visit is on DD's and my list post lockdown.
I used to make my trips to the Western Infirmary, a whole day event and combine my appointment with with a spot of shopping and dining! Happy days indeed! Enjoy!

I'm pretty wiped out today. I have gone from splendid isolation to splendid busyness! I don't know if I like it! ?
My telephone consultation took one hour and forty five minutes yesterday! ? All through it my phone kept beeping! It was DD urging me to phone yet again about my jab.
I did and was immediately offered my appointment for today!
Later on my phone rang, offering me yet another appointment. Just like buses, nothing for ages, then they all come along at once! What a shambles my surgery is.

Just sat down and the phone rang again. The new decking installer phoned to say he couldn't get the colour I wanted, did I want to compromise, as there is a huge shortage of materials, post lockdown.
I happened to mention we need new patio doors and he said they really needed to be done first. Back to the door installers, who said they were swamped and we were on the list, but it is a very long list!!! Phone calls back and forth, until it was partly resolved. Where was MrMDoll, in all of this?????. He was nowhere to be seen. Oh I forgot, such mundane tasks are below his pay grade, as his PA, I had to make the decisions my self. ?

Lovely news from B9Ex, I hope all is well. GM on the advice of posters here, I bought one of those garden kneelers which can be turned into a seat, it has been worth its weight in gold!.
Sar hoping your husband is OK after his bump, grandmajet that your phone consultation goes well and such sad news from Elliane. ?

I'm off to wash my short, short hair. ( Which I'm now regretting) It should take all of two minutes to dry it, as opposed to the previously hour long hair washing session.
To add to my glam look, I am going to wear make up and jewellery! After all, going to the surgery is my first official event, since stopping shielding! ???
DH is more excited than I am.? Now how can I persuade him to make a detour via TK Maxx? wink

I shall come back later and read the posts properly. I'm having terrible problems, posting on GN with my tablet and this has taken me ages to do! ?

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

Urmstongran Thu 29-Apr-21 08:29:11

Goodness, almost 40 posts already! And it’s not long after 8am. This has become such a popular thread of yours Mick.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the sun’s up. Plenty of blue sky too. The 8:20am to Oxford Street Manchester has just pulled into the station across the road and half a dozen people have alighted and are coming up from the platform. Things are slowly returning to normal.

I’m off for a stroll with my walking buddy at 1pm. She made a crass comment about me at our lunch on Tuesday which hurt my feelings and has played on my mind since. I might have to put on my big girl pants and mention it, hmm. Not looking forward to that.

Afterwards we are picking the smalls up from their childminder’s after school at 4:30pm as our daughter wants to stay in work a bit longer to prepare for parents’ evening next Tuesday. She would normally work on her laptop on Sunday but Himself has a birthday coming up (he shares the day with Tony Blair ?) and they have arranged a family BBQ.

Right, time for my second cuppa. I’m going to settle back and read all your doings. Have a good Thursday I hope it’s kind to us all. x

Pittcity Thu 29-Apr-21 08:29:54

Marydoll, you've put an idea into my head. A detour on the way home from the hairdresser via TK Maxx sounds like a plan. The shortcut home is through Next too wink

Grandmabatty Thu 29-Apr-21 08:33:38

Good morning all. It's a bright day in Polmont and the temperature is currently 4°. I'm hoping it warms up a bit as dd,dgs and I are going shopping and then meeting ds for an outside lunch. I'll have to wrap up. Ds was supposed to be helping me with a few things this week but he hasn't mentioned coming over and I won't nag. He starts a secondment next week based in London therefore his free time is limited.
Yesterday I had a busy morning visiting mum then friends but my WhatsApp chat in the afternoon was cancelled again so I'm afraid to say I was very lazy. It was cold yesterday and I had the heating on which added to my laziness. LauraNorder we'll miss you and your doings. Ashcombe I hope you recover quickly.Brooke it sounds like you are having a great time. JaxJacky you have a very creative husband! That's so intricate. I'm off for second cup of coffee before I go out. Have a good day all.

Alygran Thu 29-Apr-21 08:43:29

Good morning from North Yorkshire. We have just had a really heavy shower.
Off walking with a friend this morning then going to pick up my nest of tables from the French polisher later. I had some mats that must have held moisture after being cleaned. They left horrible marks.
Congratulations B9 and family
Ellianne sorry to hear about your cat.
Laura bye for now.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Grandmajean Thu 29-Apr-21 08:46:14

Good morning - sunshine again in Cheshire !
Sorry about your cat Ellianne . I have a rescue moggie . Used to only have Orientals but now will only have a rescue - long story.
Will read page two messages later.
Kind thoughts to all who are not having a good day.

Marydoll Thu 29-Apr-21 08:46:50

Pittcity, a girl after my own heart!

GrannySomerset Thu 29-Apr-21 08:52:07

Cold and bright after a very wet day yesterday which was more than welcome. U3A book group on Zoom this morning but nothing else planned though I need to arrange some stimulus for DH. Hope everyone has a good day.

Anniebach Thu 29-Apr-21 08:54:37

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

BlueSapphire Thu 29-Apr-21 08:58:25

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny ?Northampton. It was really chilly yesterday when I had my walk out to the postbox, and I ended up putting the heating on in the afternoon. I also called into the hairdressers for my patch test before my colour next week. My appointment for cut and colour cannot come soon enough.

I took a chance yesterday with hanging the washing out, and by the time I got back from my walk late morning, it was all dry.

My DVD of 'A Month in the Country' arrived yesterday, so am looking forward to watching Colin Firth it.

Nothing planned for today except await the Sainsbury's delivery, and water the garden at some time. I am trying a new recipe - pork and saffron ragu - tonight so hope that Sainsbury's deliver with the ingredients.

Will go back now and read everyone's news. Hoping today is a good one.

Stilllearning Thu 29-Apr-21 09:08:02

Morning from a sunny but cold S Lanarkshire. Just dipping in this morning and will read later. Great news of a safe arrival B9,many congratulations.

All the best LauraNorder,I will miss your sense of humour.

Enjoy your day in the city baubles, a lovely step into our old lives. I’m very sorry to hear of your family loss.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Grammaretto Thu 29-Apr-21 09:20:49

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's hardly above freezing.
I am sorry you are leaving us LauraN
Mar sin leabh! (I'm learning Gaelic)
Gransnet has been a lifeline for me this past year so it definitely doesn't count as time wasted grin
Housework might be in that category or even non-essential shopping.

I haven't had mine cut yet Marydoll. One friend said it looks good long......

Lovely news B9ex
A great time of year to be born. Which reminds me I must send cards today.

Sorry about the sadnesses. Baubles flowers
Elianne too.
Good luck for Dexter's op. Dragonfly
