Yes, she was called Mew, when we were living in Oman. A semi-feral kitten found by young dds in an appallingly emaciated state, with bleeding paws. We thought she must have been trapped somewhere.
TBH I didn’t think she’d last the night, but she did, so it was off to the nice Egyptian vet the next day. (He looked like Omar Sharif!).
He said he’d never seen such an emaciated cat, and thought putting her to sleep would be best, but dds were with me and it was out of the question. He gave her vitamin shots, and despite the odds, she gradually recovered, and became very tame and friendly.
However it wasn’t too long before we had to return to the U.K., and were prepared to take her, but a few weeks before we left she fell ill with some cat disease, and the vet told us that she was also pregnant.
We couldn’t take her back to the U.K. and 6 months quarantine then if she was going to have kittens, so she was spayed while still not 100%, but again recovered against the odds.
We flew her back, paid £££ for flights and quarantine - she came out after the 6 months sleek and glossy - only to get herself run over barely 2 months later - and we don’t even live close to a busy road.
However, as I said to distraught dds at the time, she’d used up her 9 lives already, and at least we’d given her a good life while we had her.
