I was reading on Facebook that approximately 70% of people live within 30 miles of where they were born when they become adults. I am not sure about this. I worked out that I live approximately 10,525 miles away. I don’t know that many here who stayed near their original hometowns. What about you ?
I’m not sure how far away I am but it’s certainly more then 30 miles!!! Born Newcaslte upon Tyne. Moved to London in 1980 with husband and 3 young children stayed there until my divorce then moved to the south coast in 2015
Give the mileage by all means but do be careful about saying where you were born and live now as that information is used in security questions and answers...
I did move away for a while when I was younger but missed the people, the area, the lack of traffic jams and the lack of pollution! I live within 10 miles from the hospital where I was born and my first home. I can't imagine living anywhere else despite the massive changes with the number of houses, escalation of vehicle ownership and change in population.
Three miles from the place I was born, having moved to a nearby town for a few years, then returning for good. Most of my family are within a few miles.Lucky for me.
Ìm about 72 miles away! But have lived over 200 miles away when a kiddie. And various distances over the years.Id like to be nearer the sea though(some seaside approx 12 miles away from me, but not really a 'nice' one like cornwall or somewhere is)?
Born in Scotland but after spend my childhood in English Army bases and postings in Germany and Malaysia (my father was in the British Army) and constantly moving (in my 42nd home), I now live in NW England. Home is where my suitcase is.
220 miles away. Born in Cheshire, lived in Cornwall from 6 years old (which I view as ‘home’) then by circuitous routes to Dorset where I have lived for 36 years now after short stays elsewhere.
I live two miles away from the house where I was born. I now live in the house where my parents last lived. It was their dream house and now it’s mine.
Out in the country just 10 miles away from the lovely market town I was born in.......now almost totally unrecognisable after being overwhelmed by incomers
