I was reading on Facebook that approximately 70% of people live within 30 miles of where they were born when they become adults. I am not sure about this. I worked out that I live approximately 10,525 miles away. I don’t know that many here who stayed near their original hometowns. What about you ?
How interesting I was born 30 miles from where I now live. This is true of my elder sibling too. My little brother was born in the west and now lives in the west ( although we moved east again when he was a baby) and must also be about 30 miles from his birthplace. I have moved around a lot - including living in other countries, and only lived near my birthplace when very young. Interesting!
I live about 80 miles away ( Dorset ) from where I was born (Hampshire ). When we first got married we applied ALL over the country for teaching jobs and ended up in Cornwall Then when our daughters came along, the roads were so bad in Cornwall we moved to be nearer the grandparents so chose to go back to where we had trained. Neither of us had / have any inclination to go back to our birth places after living in Cornwall and then Dorset.
I live approximately 10,525 miles away nanna8 Now there's a coincidence! I live in Melbourne too, but I'm more adventurous than you; approx. 10,526 miles from Manchester! You could be that little old lady living in the next street who delivers junk mail every Sunday! OoRoo
Moved about 300 miles from the North West to the South West. I have a great fondness for my home town and also for my new town. They've both been good to me.
