Hello Sunday Kitcheners! Got a bit carried away today doing stuff - I was going to take it easy but no....so I feel now that bits of me might just break if I move suddenly. I am actually sitting down after cleaning, clearing, vacuuming, washing floors, washing curtains, ironing and even throwing together Urm's Soapdish for supper. It's so delish, we have eaten it a number of times and by the time one is absolutely cream crackered (as the East End types say) it's great to have a meal just sitting waiting, rather than having to set to and work in the kitchen.
We'll be out most of the day tomorrow and there will be lolling around, so I shall feel quite virtuous after my efforts today - always assuming that I can even walk tomorrow!
Is your Charlie an elderly boy, NannyT ? You'll know that we lost Nouba a few months ago, he was almost 17. He was bright as a button but as his health declined, it was clear that his yowling sometimes was due to a bit of 'confused.com'. He would shout suddenly when looking for me or another one of the animals, rather than go and look. He'd occasionally shout in the middle of the night but I used to leave a small lamp on so that he could see that he wasn't on his own. Mostly he was fine and, of course, his kidneys eventually failed him. Since he's gone, Paxo, one of our two cats, has taken up yowling as a sort of extreme sport. None of our cats get on, so I can't believe she misses him, but she'll suddenly yell at full volume if she finds herself alone. As soon as I speak to her, she stops. Same age as Nouba, so again maybe it's an age thing. Hateful to have broken sleep, though. My DH hates to be stomped all over when he's half way through an interesting film or somesuch but he roared with laughter at the picture of your cat and Puzzler's being deliberately obstructive. They do it just because they can, of course. But look on the bright side...you could have a digging dog! That seems to be a problem for a few of the GoodMorning clan.
We built a holiday home in Greece, Urms. That gave us enough adventures and raised blood pressure and enough stories to dine out on for a lifetime!!!! We did have lots of laughs though. Never lived there - well not longer than 6 months at a time. Used to drive from the UK - 4 days and 8 lots of different currencies for our journey. Before that we used to go to the islands by plane - mainly Paxos, Naxos, Poros, Hydra. Such a beautiful country, the light and the colours quite magical. But I was ALWAYS ill, such a bad stomach. Eventually I decided that it may simply have been that Greek food (traditionally served luke warm) on the islands was possibly not ideal for me. In the height of summer too, the deliveries to the islands could be quite erratic. So, when we decided to build we opted for the mainland - one of the fingers of land which form the Messinian Mani, near Kalamata. That's where we were at the top of a mountain village and where the scooter was much enjoyed whizzing up and down to the beach and the tavernas. Happy days. Hope that today has been good for you all.
I am raising a nice cold G&T to your good health. Take special care, peeps. x
