But does their parental leave mean no tv interviews, no photographs posing in a romantic garden ?

We can but hope!
If Harry were to turn up to the memorial ceremony and bring his little family ovet to meet the Queen, I think many might forgive all the other nonsense. I would.
Hello...
I'm just tiptoeing in and I'm going to sit down quiety next to Callistemon and just listen for a bit.
I've been avoiding this and the other thread for a couple of days.
I've got over my original shock about the name, and am just about ready to join in again...
“ The difference between telling her and asking her is critical I think.”
Do we know which it was ?

It was uplifting to see that the parents of Lilibet, are going to lead by example and take 20 weeks parental leave
from what exactly?and I have no doubt such a move, inspired by the initiatives taken onPlanet Harry and Meghanas described on the Archewell website, large magnanimous multi nationals, such as Amazon for example, will I imagine be gagging to follow suit and grant their workforce spousal leave as and when birthing people and their birthing spouseson zero hours contractsrequire it and no doubt they can be assured of .........er let me think, oh yes zero pay!
Now who wasthat complacent 12 job numbskullformer Chancellor cushioned by his family squillions, who coined that apt little phrase "We're all in this together" to succinctly sum up the situation at the time???
I’m afraid my immediate reaction to the 20 weeks parental leave was also “From what?”

However if it is from Harry making incomprehensible woke speeches or launching diatribes against his family, there may yet be a silver lining.
Just a thought, remember the announcement that there will not be an announcement followed by a request to the press to
attend an announcement
Even if she was asked, how could she say no .... there would immediately have been a complaint to Oprah/Gayle/Scobie that they weren't even allowed to choose the name they wanted.
Agree Sparklefizz , one can’t help not thinking when the family released their congratulations messages was there the
Thought ‘if we don’t what will they announce to the world’ ,
Broken trust is so hard to heal.
I don't know if it's already been mentioned (I haven't RTFT yet)
but I heard on Radio 4 yesterday that Harry asked HRH years ago if he could use the name for his future daughter
This could be spin of course
When we first started talking about baby names ( on earnshaws thread), I asked, if in your experience, men actually have that much say, or hold strong opinions, about children's names? I know that it's a sweeping generalisation - but I'm genuinely interested.
In your experience, how did you decide on your children's names?
Yes Fanny I read that somewhere yesterday.
I doubt the Queen released that info
Before he met meghan he told the queen he would name a daughter after her...He may have meant Elizabeth though.....

Jointly. ExH. Wanted some v Scottish sounding names as he is Scottish but we lived in England so we compromised. We liked Max as a name but surname is an M as well and it sounded odd.
Second son was supposed to be Rachel but hey! We used a similar sounding male name. But it was definitely a joint decision, surely it has to be ?
Lucca I suppose so
The females of my family are rather more opinionated than the males
I know that DH vetoed his ex-wifes' choice for their first son - D'arcy
I chose the names. I had a name that I wanted for my first daughter but when she was born she just didn't suit it. So 4th child got it. She didn't look like this name either but I had planned on it so it happened. She grew into her name. Children always do. My husband wanted a Charlotte but I said NO and that was that. Poor husband.

I don’t think that is likely to happen, but agree it would be nice if it did. Will any of the grandparents apart from Doria ever get to meet baby Lili?
What does it matter of Harry told his Grandmother years ago, he was going to name his first girl after her?
Since then he has trashed her and the rest of the family, all over the World.
Then has the damned cheek to name his daughter with her nickname.
I'm sorry but I find them both absolutely despicable.
I agree Buffybee.
I took my daughter's first name from Greek mythology ( a very beautiful woman fond of ships) and a second name from a book I was reading about Napoleon. My mother was appalled that they weren't biblical names or that she hadn't been allowed to choose them.
Nice try fanny!
I think men do like a say in the name selection, I think the birth giver, which more often than not turns out to be a woman, strangely! Alexandra and Catherine were on my list, my husband was agreeable to both of those, the latter being one of my names, one of my mother's and my grandmother's first name. Not to be! we had boys twice! Well Alexandra was turned into a male variant. For number 2, I wanted Sebastian but my husband vetoed that, thought it was too wet for words, it was Brideshead that dunnit for him! visions of adult still attached to his teddy bear
as if! Anyway came up with a name we both liked, thought it was original at the time, but at least several others in his year with the same name
* meant to add that the birth giver should have a major say, but was distracted in my endeavours to use the correct terminology, boy it slows one down!

I think she rather liked Paris!
It's a classic name that never seems to date although I don't know many very young ones at the moment.
I wanted our daughter to have my name as her middle name but my husband (now ex!!) said he'd "never liked it".
