Sorry, which people in SAGE do you consider to be Marxist?
Do you have any evidence?

Boris looked shell shocked. 700 admissions to hospital.

Galaxy oh you are funny
I know.
Lins52, so Breitbart, an American far right website
OK ?
Honestly I think you are really loosing the plot if you have to trawl the world’s press for so called evidence of your argument.
And then to say it is all the fault of the communists.
???
Some grip needs getting!
I shall repeat (for help you understand?)
The covid position does not reach the 4 key tests set out by the government in order to fully unlock.
Nothing to do with reds under the bed.
Lucca Don't hold your breath waiting for Biscuitmuncher and her like to answer your questions.
I have lost count of the number of times I have asked people expressing views like hers the question you asked and many others. I have yet to receive an answer to a single one.
I also think the question needs asking about whether in fact we need to go one step back until the vaccine programme is up to the level needed to prevent spread?
It won’t happen, I know.
I can’t see us going back either Whitewave, but I agree, the 4 key tests are not met and until they are, the next stage of unlocking will not happen. Quite rightly in my opinion.
Whitewavemark2 hopefully they have no intention of doing that would be a over reaction at this point in time
It would be preferable to impose tighter controls for a few more weeks in my opinion. I don’t think that will happen though, and unfortunately the day of reckoning for Covid deniers who are unvaccinated is coming, as they are all likely to be infected now, as will be the immune compromised who aren’t able to be vaccinated. I’m expecting more deaths and more long Covid in younger people, but sadly most who die will be in their forties and fifties as they aren’t fully vaccinated, or in some cases aren’t vaccinated at all, and are now the most vulnerable group.
I agree Casdon

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions as you don’t want vaccinations lockdown or restrictions or masks.
Sorry to inject politics in this thread BUT The CPGB ceased following most Marxist idea decades ago. Even calling someone who a member of the Communist Party 'a Marxist' will upset a lot of Marxists!!!!

June 21 unlocking called off
There has been no announcement has there? Is this from some group in an attempt to raise the temperature in the country and sway the PM now he has begun to see sense at last?
rosie1959 Fri 11-Jun-21 22:09:30
In four weeks will it be any different?
We will have more stats and more clarity about what is happening and also, as you suggest, four weeks more of vaccinations.

This seems like an effort to undermine truth. I'm calling it out as such but I think it should be removed.
Urmstongran Fri 11-Jun-21 22:13:10
The Marxists in SAGE have taken full control of the country and Boris is their pet.
When the SAGE group are be identified as Marxists this post shouts that it is a fascist post.
Ellan Fri 11-Jun-21 22:17:38
So the 'irreversible' was indeed reversible
They are not talking about reversing anything, are they? The TRUTH is that currently they are just talking about slowing things down and that is surely the best way to not having to go into reverse.

I can’t find any reference to this in the News? Where has this info come from Urmstongran?
It isn't a fact. We are just beginning to see new and worrying stats come through. You will see posts on many forums that simply lie in an attempt to stir up the right. Calling people Marxists, for example, is straight from the right-wing handbook. It's worth reading 'Cultural Marxism': a uniting theory for rightwingers who love to play the victim
Sorry but I think we are being played. I'm sure there are more accurate comments so reading the rest of the posts. Sadly some will not read past the first few and they will take it on board as a truth.
I'm still wondering about the 700 hospital admissions. Any ideas? ?
I can’t find anything about 700 admissions to hospital either, it says on the BBC news page this morning that there are currently 1058 people in hospital. Is it possibly a projection of the impact of no measures being taken to reduce the infection rate? (No idea where it’s from if that’s the case).

I don’t think we can be surprised at any delays. This virus is unpredictable and variants will be around for a long time. We just have to carry on with masks and social distancing for a long time yet. I don’t think ‘normal’ life will be what we would like it to be and we now have a new norm. We just have to accept this and adjust accordingly. The main reason is to stay safe, I for one will not take any risks, it isn’t worth it.

With respect Urmstongran, the posts you have made are very irresponsible.
Boris looks shell shocked? When? There was no announcement last night.
700 hospital admissions? Where? When?
Marxists in SAGE? Well that’s been done to death.
The Government worried about vaccine effectiveness? No evidence either for a worrying decline in vaccine effectiveness or for the Government being worried about such a thing.
If you yourself have worries about the state of the pandemic, ask the questions about what concerns you. But what you are doing is spreading false rumours and speculation and it is unfair and damaging.

But will the country as a whole be willing to accept this over a long time
I can accept it but I don’t own a restaurant theatre or a pub for instance where social distancing is a big negative
Lucca I'm not sure what the answer is but masks, lockdowns and vaccinations dont seem to be working because zero covid is the answer apparently and that's never going to happen
The main reason is to stay safe, I for one will not take any risks, it isn’t worth it.
We need to appreciate that we will never be "safe" again. At some point the level of mortality and illness from this virus will be similar to background levels for other illnesses. There is a trade off between being "safe" and actually living a life.
I'm not suggesting dropping all precautions right now, before somebody tries to suggest that I am, and I think any more easing of restrictions should be delayed for a while. But at some point, we are going to have to start living something like a normal life again.
