Here we are yet again,
Happy as we can be...
All good friends and jolly good company.

WELCOME to our very own kitchen in which we celebrate happy occasions and support each other through the difficult times. flowers sunshine smile

soop Sun 29-Aug-21 16:07:40

I apologise for not spending more time with you but I am sick to the back teeth with our computer and the constant notices telling me that something is amiss.
I have also mentioned this on Facebook.

I have managed to read through your messages. Rather than start responding and possibly losing my responses I have decided to do some ironing instead. hmm

You all matter. Continue to take good care of yourselves and enjoy the rest of the weekend. smile moon

Charleygirl5 Sun 29-Aug-21 16:16:18

soop do you think Fern may have worms because she is rarely off your doorstep wanting food.

BladeAnnie Sun 29-Aug-21 17:57:20

Just popping in the kitchen to say hello and hope everyone has had a good day. A quiet one for us - Mr BA attacking thr triffids in the garden whilst I had a bit of a knit fest going on - I must finish this cardigan before our new DGS grows out of it!! Three weeks old and his mummy says he's real little milk monster - feeding and settling really well ?. I feel so lucky and blessed ?. There is so much sadness and awful things happening atm, I really think I have a lot to be grateful for ?. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday dear kitcheners ?

SueDonim Sun 29-Aug-21 18:38:41

I was hoping to catch up with you all today however a spanner has been thrown in the works. We waved goodbye to the last of the family today, I’ve changed five beds, done a mountain more of laundry and have now been felled by a migraine. Do you think there’s a connection?? grin

Take care, all! X

brook2704 Sun 29-Aug-21 18:40:48

Wow baggs you look great with that bow and arrow - you should be on a film set! Well done you - such talent ?

Hope your get together is going well Jax catering for 10 isn’t easy and I admire you ! Thanks for the idea of the driving range - it’s something different DGS could try soon

I’m just in from the garden - the time has flown today and I’ve had one of those days where I’ve been busy but nothing much to show for it - happens quite a lot with me - it’s like when someone asks you what you’ve been doing and you’ve been busy but can’t think of anything to say?

Sorry to hear about the computer problems again soop so frustrating to put it mildly.

I totally agree BA we’ve a lot to be grateful for and I count my blessings every day

I hope you feel better soon and enjoy your trip away Ann - just take it easy and not too much partying!

I’ve got a chicken pie in the oven, bought from Tesco and not home made although it is a Tesco finest ? so we’re having that with veg - nice and easy again!

Take care everyone and will pop back later

brook2704 Sun 29-Aug-21 18:42:12

And breathe SueDonim ?

Doodle Sun 29-Aug-21 19:29:36

soop connection problems are such a pain. No wonder you resorted to rude words.
Oh what a scary spider story. I don’t like them either. I have my spider catching pot and card always at the ready. Our spiders need a head for heights ….I drop them off the balcony.
charleygirl I feel chilly too. Where is our sunshine.
blossoming never been known to turn down a drink. Thank you. I think that could be our motto. Life’s too short to hoard wine. I have some crisps and nuts to share with all ?
Ooh urms how to make all us chilly UK people envious.
brook sounds as though both your DGC had a good day.
jaxjacky that’s a lovely photo. Hope you enjoy your pulled pork get together.
blossoming why did I read your post as liking rye bread baked dogs. ?
annsixty I’d take it easy till you go away, Hope you have a lovely time away with your neighbour.
I too am impressed Baggs . Hope you all enjoyed a good afternoon.
charleygirl I hate being rushed through my meals. What a shame you weren’t allowed time to enjoy it.
Have a good bank holiday weekend all TOYA?

Jaxjacky Sun 29-Aug-21 19:58:24

Nannytopsy, I’d still go for a light colour myself, ours will be done a pale yellow in a few weeks. Rest yourself well annsixty, you deserve this break with your friend.
You look positively scary Baggs! Very professional. Far too rushed Charleygirl, I’m afraid I’d have had a quiet word.
Friends gone, I’m officially knackered, we love having the GC’s, ditto friends, both in two days has me with a glass of white wine comfortable —slobbing— relaxing, with MrJ. Although he doesn’t cook, he’s chief ‘clearer upper’, so, a team.
Hoping soop has more success with their unreliable/ not fit for purpose interner tomorrow. I’ll bid you all a good night. X

Blossoming Sun 29-Aug-21 20:31:54

Oh no Doodle. The only baked dogs I’ve ever had are chilli dogs, not a hound involved grin

Urmstongran Sun 29-Aug-21 20:51:08

‘Evening All’ ?

Another warm Spanish evening. We are sat on our tiny balcony. I have a third glass of chilled white Rioja at hand.

Himself was frustrated by this afternoon’s Grand Prix but elated that Man. Utd won their game.

Baggs I am SERIOUSLY impressed lady! Not especially the archery, as I know nothing about the sport ... but your waistline ... just Wow!!

Hi to you Doodle ?

I have enjoyed another lazy day. If I’m for reincarnation it’ll be as a cat. Hopefully as beautiful and leonine as Duncan BladeAnnie.

Small things amuse me. I am a Bear of very Little Brain after all ...

Himself: ‘okay, hot potato?’ (a term of endearment I think, after 47y of marital whatsit).

Me: ‘Might be... It’s too early to tell’.

I love saying that. It amuses me every time.

?

Grandmajean Sun 29-Aug-21 22:44:07

Envy you that Spanish sunshine ? Urmstongran
Have just watched "Vigil" with DH. He liked it, I wasn't so keen.
Same writers as "Line of Duty".
wink I thought that was too "policey" and this one is too " submariney"

annodomini Sun 29-Aug-21 23:33:00

A leisurely lunch with friend - lemon drizzle pudding with clotted cream ice cream. I felt justified since my main course was low carb.
On Friday the car wouldn't start and I had Green Flag out to restart the battery - yet again. I've come to the conclusion that I need a new one - battery that is, not the car.
Must confess to having been glued to the TV this morning, having discovered a passion for wheel-chair rugby! What skill those players have in manoeuvring their chairs around the court. And they beat the US to win the gold medal. I'm loving all the coverage of the Paralympics.
Bags, I thought that your photo was a still from a Robin Hood film! You really do look the part.
You aren't having much luck with technology soop, between the vagaries of BT and your own hardware. I hope you are able to get support locally.
I see it's back-to-school time for three DGC this week - college for two of them as that's what they call the sixth form nowadays. And my (almost) 19-year-old DGD is starting a job as a learning assistant in a primary school. It seems only yesterday that she was putting on her red cardigan and nice shiny shoes and starting school herself.
moon Good night everyone. Buenas noches, Urms.

Charleygirl5 Mon 30-Aug-21 08:43:05

Did I close my eyes and miss summer? It is not very warm here and as it is still August and I am Scottish I would not dream of switching on the heating.

SueDonim a good job I was sitting down I read what you had achieved yesterday- that would have taken me a few days. You must have slept well last night.

soop is there any way you can get rid of BT because they have done nothing for you and your temper or even the computer for a very long time. I also would not be a happy bunny.

Urms I know I should not be jealous but I am of your lifestyle but also the weather in Spain. Enjoy it while it lasts and think of some of us shivering here in the evenings.
TOYA

Nannytopsy Mon 30-Aug-21 09:10:41

Morning all! Everyone is so busy, while we are still in bed. From tomorrow it will be early alarms as there will be a decorator and some builders every morning. From next weekend we get the granddog back, so this is the last lie in for a while!
I am hoping for an Indian summer. It has been grey for so long.
Enjoy your day.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 30-Aug-21 09:51:10

Just catching up with this busy kitchen…

Baggs my DGS (6) would be delighted at your archery prowess, he had archery club before school last term and loved it.

Spent the day at our dear friends yesterday, she had a theme missed birthdays lots of beautiful seafood, champagne and birthday cake (photo is course no.4) it was two years ago pre Covid that we were all together.

A lazy day is on the cards, only plan is to cook a gammon (I shall be thinking of our dear departed Phoenix and her cursing the gammon at Christmas )

Enjoy the bank holiday (sorry Scottish kitcheners, it’s just Monday for you) ?‍♀️

annsixty Mon 30-Aug-21 10:04:08

Good morning all.GG that is so unfair of you posting that plate of food, my sort of a treat along with champagne. ?
I am feeling so much better today after my very lazy day yesterday, I think I just needed it.
Only problem, I have a Sunday dinner to cook today now as the pork joint was taken out of the freezer on Saturday.
Do you remember when we didn’t eat pork unless there was an R in the month?
That was when we didn’t have fridges.
It is dull here with a decided chill first thing, Autumn is definitely creeping up, no problem for me, it is my favourite season, well a tossup between that and spring.
I hope you will all have a pleasant day and you and your loved ones are well.

Blossoming Mon 30-Aug-21 10:33:16

Good luck lovely Kitcheners. It’s cool, grey and cloudy here, typical bank holiday weather! There’s a very chilly wind blowing in off the sea. We had a lovely lie in, it’s definitely turning autumnal. Mr. B is making porridge for brunch, my favourite grin

brook2704 Mon 30-Aug-21 10:36:44

Just popping into the kitchen early today whilst I’m waiting for a washer load to finish. I’m off again on my travels tomorrow back down to DD1 in Cambridge. I’m helping with childcare for the last week of the school holidays so it should be fun! Eldest DGS is back at school this Thursday but the youngest will be starting in the reception class. He’s doing staggered starts times and half days so he’s not really there fully until the following Thursday. That’s when I’m coming home for a rest!
I’m so pleased you’re feeling a bit better this morning Ann hopefully you’ll be raring to go on your trip tomorrow
Yes it’s just a normal Monday here in Inverness GG13 the bank holidays are different here and they always catch me out ?
Right that’s the washer finished so I’m going to hang it all out then off to the gym for a splash around at the Aqua class
Have a lovely day everyone and will be back later

soop Mon 30-Aug-21 14:52:24

Good afternoon lovely peoples.

Blossoming I have also eaten porridge with blueberries, fresh orange juice and an apple for brunch.

Charleyg We receive one mega-bite of whatever it is that makes the internet such a brilliant place to hang around. No more is available for we who live in this spot. Both Mr Soop and I would love there to be an alternative. There isn't one. hmm

When we call BT to say that we continue to have a bloody awful connection, they tell us that we are in the wrong place for any improvement. !!**$$ etcetera.

Grandmajean I thought that the drama was well done. I still prefer 'Line of Duty'

Urms grin grin grin

SueDonim I would say that you have hit the nail on the head. Reeeelax!

We have a much longed for small family gathering planned for next weekend. Our neighbour will be care-taking and feeding Sweetie Pie and the birds.
As usual I have a list of extra jobs that I like to perform and complete before our exit. It's a "me thing."

I shall return later this afternoon. That's a promise. smile

Daisytwoshoes Mon 30-Aug-21 14:53:08

Just popping in to say hello to everyone waiting for my friend to come over for tea , cake, and a chat .scones jam and cream , and strawberry Victoria Sponge .enjoy the rest of your day and eve everyone

Grandmajean Mon 30-Aug-21 17:21:01

The drama was well done * soop * I am just hard to please says my DHgrin

Grandmajean Mon 30-Aug-21 17:22:42

Soop

Urmstongran Mon 30-Aug-21 17:41:10

‘Evening All’ (early one!)

I’m about to shower and put a on a oral dress and some silver sandals. Maybe find a tube of coral lippy amongst those I’m using up - no new ones allowed until after Christmas is my self imposed rule at present! Then I shall chuck them all out and very carefully choose only 5 new ones (don’t ask).

Down in the lift, ring for a taxi €7 to the marina for a cocktail - a Porn Star Martini I think, as it’s still my favourite - and dinner for two at 9pm at one of the restaurants down there. Maybe the Metro Bar or, if we fancy Italian, it will be the family owned De Fano.

I’ve had my nose in a book all day. ‘The Four Winds’ by Kristin Hannah. I can’t put it down. Good job there’s not much needs doing in our little apartment!

I hope those who can are enjoying the Bank Holiday in the UK - apart from Scotland of course. You’re turn soon perhaps? x

BladeAnnie Mon 30-Aug-21 17:41:46

Just popping into the kitchen to say hello and meatballs a la tagliatelle anyone?? Have a good remainder of the day lovely people

soop Mon 30-Aug-21 17:45:35

Daisytwoshoes Welcome. I like your name. Is it okay if us lot to virtually join you for afternoon tea? Thought so. smile

ann It is good to hear that you are feeling recovered.
Will you have crunchy crackling to serve with the roast pork? I haven't tasted the likes for umpteen years.

brook Care to share some of your energy? I am absolutely knackered wearied after today's preparation for our forthcoming family gathering.
Mind you, the "drop bot" is awfully bothersome today. Enough said. wink

GrannyGravy What a colourful feast. As for bank holiday Monday, Mr Soop celebrates both the English and Scottish version. We live on the west coast of Scotland. As far as he's concerned today is a bank holiday. I tend to agree. We pick and choose our special occasions. grin

anno I was also hooked on the wheelchair rugby. Such dexterity and will to win.

Nannytopsy It seems perfectly sensible to recharge your batteries. Busy times ahead.

Doodle I am convinced that our spiders take a stroll around the garden and then come back feeling well refreshed.

I'm supping tea. Was watching 'To Catch a Thief' during an ironing session. All too yesteryear for my liking. Mind you, the leading man was worth the occasional glimpse. wink

Enjoy your evening. Hoping to catch up with you all again tomorrow. smile moon
