Presuming BJ goes.

We’ve all had our say about whether he should go or not.
Why not turn this on its head and say who you would like instead of BJ, and why you think they would be good?
First someone from the Tory party because they’re still in. You may struggle to think of anyone, but give it a go.
Then who you’d like from any party or the party you vote for and why.
I’d vote for Andy Burnham. I know he’s only the Mayor of Greater Manchester now, but I think he’s really developed throughout Covid and he listens to the people.

Angela Rayner Miss Gobby no chance.

Maudi Sun 16-Jan-22 17:40:35

Anyway Labour is not in the picture they have to win a General Election and that's not for a few years yet and I still think they wouldn't win.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 16-Jan-22 17:51:09

Angela Rayner as deputy PM? Lord help us.

Casdon Sun 16-Jan-22 18:13:53

It’s not far away Maudi. May 2024 is the latest possible date.

So far you have told us of three people you don’t want, but haven’t made the requested contribution about who you do want?

Can’t think of a single Tory. I’ve heard Michael Gove’s name mentioned as a favourite candidate, but the thought isn’t exactly enthralling. For labour - Angela Rayner. She comes across as fearless and I think she has more of a fire in her belly than Keir Starmer.

She also comes across as being incredibly ignorant.

Although BJ has not, due to his recent actions, done himself any favours cred where cred due he listened to the nation concerning Brexit.
Better the devil etc etc. ?

Jeez, you really believe that Boris listened to the nation concerning Brexit?

He jumped on a bandwagon that he didn't think was heading anywhere, hoping to later use his feigned support for Brexit to win wider support for his future political plans.. He got the shock of his life when that bandwagon actually actually took off with him onboard!

Boris had staked everything on something he never expected to happen and there was no going back for him.

His miscalculated vanity project has put so deep enough in the s**t that it could take decades for us to extract ourselves and start smelling the roses again.

Barmeyoldbat Sun 16-Jan-22 19:06:57

Angela Rayner might be gobby but isn’t, as far as I know a liar or self serving and corrupt

Excellent post!

GillT57, love the variation on my name.
Yes, there are others KS could choose. I like Angela but perhaps we need a few more steady hands at the helm.

Can you give me an example of something she’s said that’s ignorant? Or is it because she doesn’t have an Oxbridge accent?

I’d like to know that too. Whenever I’ve seen her interviewed on various issues she always comes across as well researched. She’s direct, and she doesn’t sidestep awkward questions. She can also handle herself at the ballot box. If we’re talking about ignorance how about the ignorance of the crew at number 10 partying on into the night in complete ignorance of the massive disrespect they were showing to the NHS and frontline services, and all those who were unable to be with their loved ones as they were dying.

I’d rather have gobby than a morally bankrupt liar and I wouldn’t bet against Labour at the next election. They’re ahead in the polls atm and the longer this sleazy Tory s***show goes on the more ground they will gain.

Lilyflower Mon 17-Jan-22 11:15:52

FannyCornforth, you should know that Labour has the same trans women-are-not-women policy as the LIbdems and Greens.

The only party to allow biological women the status and rights to be women is that of the Conservatives.

TBsNana Mon 17-Jan-22 11:16:49

OK, so, wasted opportunities - David Miliband, shouldn't have given way to Ed.
Given that we are so short of political talent let's try Hugh Grant! Listen to him talking politics - he's a wasted resource!

Moggycuddler Mon 17-Jan-22 11:17:47

Hmmm . My cat could do better than the lot of them.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 17-Jan-22 11:19:43

The more I think about it the more I agree with the Tory voters on the radio this morning who all, without exception said that the whole lot are tainted by association and the Tories need a total clear out.

None of them in the cabinet should be the next leader.

Nezumi65 Mon 17-Jan-22 11:21:47

Liz Truss because she is so useless she would guarantee a loss at the next election. I really can’t bear the thought of this lot getting in again.

Am a Lib Dem so will go for a Lib Dem/lab coalition (did not support the previous one!) with Starmer. But I’d be happy with Starmer. He’s not the most exciting but he is seriously clever & a decent man. Could do with someone decent after this shower.

You must be thinking about a different Nicola Sturgeon from the one I know. The one I know has suppressed information regarding Covid numbers, care home deaths and even outbreaks. It's horrendous what she's brought Scotland too with her dictatorial approach. Don't get me started - I could go on!

Absolutely agree. We in scotland are being led by a woman and her party who are becoming more and more totalitarian and fascist in their approach to govern the Scottish people. It is horrendous. They have lied, covered up misdemeanours and cannot be trusted. She rules with an iron fist and continually adopts outrageous, extortionate decisions which costs the Scottish taxpayer a fortune eg baby boxes for every newborn, free bus passes now for every child under 21, free sanitary stuff yet we have bloody awful main roads full of potholes resulting in damage to our cars, local councils who are so strapped for cash, a failing state education system and NHS staff leaving in droves as they feel completely and utterly exhausted and unappreciated. I will never vote for that wee Hitler and her inept party

Widnesbabcia Mon 17-Jan-22 11:29:45

That's nice dear.

Godwin's law. You lose.

I'm sure people who really lived under totalitarian and fascist governments have a lot of sympathy for you.

A safe, steady and thoughtful pair of hands might be Jeremy Hunt. He seems to have integrity but what do I know?!

LovelyLady Mon 17-Jan-22 11:34:38

Do a deal with the SNP and get the leaders to attend a course run by Nicola Sturgeon. She’s bright, brave, logical, energetic, knowledgeable and genuinely looks for the desired outcome. She’s dynamic and a born leader. She doesn’t hide in fridges or bring shame to the leadership. No one’s ever in any doubt what she means as she is blunt, caring and obs a leader. Ok take a short cut and just have her as PM. If that’s too much then consider the other dynamic Scot - Ruth Davidson
