Quilt covers advice, please.

I don't have smelly feet, so no idea what is causing the whiff.

I've thrown out a couple of nighties, bought some of the dettol stuff made for antibacterial purposes in wash loads.

I've eyed that quilt cover up so many times, now, that I'm sick of the sight of it, though.

My bedding is pure cotton. Sheets are mostly Habitat from Sainsbury’s, 400tc. My duvet covers are white cotton waffle from M&S and white pleated from John Lewis, and Portuguese flannelette for winter (inherited from my late mother, no idea where it’s from but so soft and warm.

I very occasional iron pillowcases but nothing else, they get washed when it’s a good day to peg them out on the line.

I ask because, for some strange reason, it can alter your sense of smell.
Covid caused me to lose my sense of smell.
Another time I have found many things smelt odd.

The other week I went somewhere where a perfume was passed round for us to try. Everyone thought it was lovely but to me it smelt foul, like cat pee. I had to go home and wash my wrists, the smell was unbearable.

Ps I wash bedding and towels at 60C

I think because my liver isn't well, it isn't filtering pongs out of my body, so they must leak out of my feet instead.

Or, as my mother would have said "Your nose is too near your own arse"

I don't like poly/cotton. Ours are all 100% cotton. None smell.

I did store a pile of pillowcases in a sealed plastic box last summer and opened them today... they did smell! I have washed the first ten today and they will 🤞 not be smelly once dry...
But as they aren't quite dry yet...

During the cold weather I have fleece bedding....it always has a warm feel to it and makes you relax as soon as you get into bed. For summer, I prefer pure cotton, much nicer on the skin than a poly mix.

I'm so relieved that so many don't iron bedding anymore. I always used to feel my mother's disapproval when I stopped ironing ours, she was a staunch ironer of everything, she'd have been shocked but really it's as crumpled as ever after a couple of sleepings

Preferably cotton. I don't bother with ironing, except occasionally for pillowcases. After all, who is going to see the inside of my bedroom? Don't answer that.

When we were house hunting one thing that impressed me was the houses where people had lovely ironed bedcovers . It makes such a difference to a room . I always iron all bedding and like poly/cotton best as they are the easiest to iron.

I'd throw on a bedspread! Neatly, of course.

In fact, the beds that are made up ready for visitors have bedspreads on them to keep them dust-free

Cotton all the way for me. I only iron pillow cases as I have a handmade quilt which goes over the lot and no-one is any the wiser! It occurred to me too that it might be your sense of smell rather than the bedding MissAdventure.

Yes, it could be a sinus problem, due to medication or a dental problem.

It could just go away on it's own.

I have 100% cotton duvet cover (Dunelm) and 100% cotton sheet top and bottom. Husband likes a sheet directly under the duvet as he is a bit restless in the night and the top sheet keeps the duvet in place better. I like the top sheet as I don’t have to wash the duvet cover so often! I never iron bedding - can’t see the point, although I did iron the pillowcases when we had a guest staying in the spare bedroom recently!

All bed bedding is linen .... doesn't need ironing.....looks good crumpled......have had from H&M , marksies and my favourite is Piglet in a bed ( but only when a 50% sale is on!)

Pure cotton, but I don’t iron any of it - except pillowcases for guests. The creases soon drop out.
Might add that my dark blue William Morris ‘Strawberry Thief’ duvet cover doesn’t show creases anyway!

If you suspect some sort of smell coming from the washing machine, especially if you use pods, do try the hottest wash with no laundry, just soda crystals. You may be amazed (I was!) at the dirty grey foam that appears from the build-up of gunk - I had to do it twice.

So no more pods or conditioner here - just powder with soda crystals in every wash.

I'm expecting a bit much, thinking I'll get quality for £10, I've concluded.

My washing machine is actually new, and I never use pods (too expensive!) so it's not that.

I wonder if it might be my nose, now.

Ditto! Preferably high thread eviction cotton. However in the summer we now use “coverless” duvets which are cover and duvet in one, cotton mix and go in both the washing washing and tumbler dryer. Job done! We had such a mild winter this year we never changed it. We have a couple and they’re great
