No one else seems to be saying anything on here, so I will.

I know she is not out of the woods.
But I am a bit relieved to see the photograph. And read her words.

I just felt I wanted to express something about it.

The anxiety within the family will never go away. Sadly you learn to navigate it and be very grateful for any good times.

I think she’s had a tougher time than we realise and hope the fact that she’s going to attend means she’s properly on the mend.

She looked no different than usual to me. I wish her a full recovery however, as I would any young mum with children.

crazyH Fri 14-Jun-24 19:15:40

Where’s the photo?

nanaK54 Fri 14-Jun-24 19:16:21

The photo was beautiful.
I'm so sad for her and all of her family, I wish her well.

Calendargirl Fri 14-Jun-24 19:22:27

The update was good to hear.

I bet tomorrow will be quite daunting though.

She must feel nervous about being seen in public again, her confidence will have taken a knock.

I wish her well, for tomorrow and onwards.

TillyTrotter Fri 14-Jun-24 19:22:53

I think this is it crazyH

Thanks Tillytrotter x

Catherine is too young to have her days clouded with such huge health worries. I wish her well.

Exactly the same thoughts as ‘calendargirl*

This is her message in full:
I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.

I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.

I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.

Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.

crazyH Fri 14-Jun-24 19:57:35

Thanks Urms - it’s all so sad 🥲

Calipso Fri 14-Jun-24 20:02:04

I'm relieved to see that she appears to have kept her hair.
A lovely photograph of her but her words convey a great deal of the toll the treatment takes. She seems to be taking a very calm and sensible approach to self care.
I do wonder if her statement today was made to head off any of the disgraceful media frenzy that we saw before she announced her cancer diagnosis.

crazyH Fri 14-Jun-24 20:06:18

Yes Calipso - I too was worried about her luxuriant hair …

Bumface Fri 14-Jun-24 20:09:50

I don't know what kind of cancer Catherine has, it is none of mine, or anyone else's business. What I do hope is that sometime, in the foreseeable future, effective preventions and/or cures can be found for all kinds of cancer.

She and her family have been carrying a terrible burden of uncertainty and fear that goes with a cancer diagnosis and I hope that she is 'out of the woods' soon.

Urmstongran Fri 14-Jun-24 20:12:23

Sadly our very respected GP said that in her opinion there will never be a cure for cancer until Big Pharma discovers how to make as much money from prevention as it makes from treatments.

Redcar Fri 14-Jun-24 20:24:21

I was relieved to see that she still had her lovely hair Calipso. I had read some rumours in the media and socials, so it was possibly to discourage those from spreading too much.

Coronation Fri 14-Jun-24 20:28:53

I was also happy to see this photo and her positive statement. Let's hope something positive happens out of this, more cancer awareness and research etc.

She is understandbly finding it difficult, with a good family. Lots of people have to cope with this navigating work/benefits/no family etc which is an extra pressure. Hopefully something good will come out of this and she recovers along with many others.

NotSpaghetti Fri 14-Jun-24 20:32:50

I think the photo is fine looking wistfully into space - but do you think she made the "not out of the woods yet" comment knowingly? Or maybe on seeing the photo.

I wonder if it's a little jokey thing?

NotSpaghetti Fri 14-Jun-24 20:33:27

Obviously I wish her well.

Summerfly Fri 14-Jun-24 20:40:05

You’ve hit the nail on the head there Urms.

Coronation Fri 14-Jun-24 20:45:41

@Urmstongran let's hope that it raises awareness as I'm sure Catherine leads a very healthy life and is young.

Pantglas2 Fri 14-Jun-24 20:51:05

I wondered too NotSpaghetti… and then I remembered that walking in woodlands is one of the best things anyone can do, unwell or not, and hope that she finds some peace of mind there.

I have just crocheted a hat for a friend who has lost her hair due to chemo.

Another friend (50) has just got the all clear. She was diagnosed just a week or so before Kate. She has had major surgery - just about everything removed inside plus many sessions of chemo but lost all her hair too.

Kate was very fortunate to keep her lovely hair because most people don’t.
