That’s awful, puzzlelove - does nobody use proofreaders any more? Or is a case of proofreaders being unable to spell, too? A printed ‘classic’ I once saw was a Mother’s Day card saying, ‘If Mum’s were flowers, I’d pick you!’
My pet annoyances are loose for lose, the muddling of affect/effect, discreet/discrete, uninterested/disinterested, and all those plurals of words ending in Y - baby’s, family’s, party’s, etc. Not to mention plurals of the odd one ending in a consonant - bus’s, box’s…..
Just as well I’ve always managed to suppress the urge to correct anybody!
