Another missing poster

I'm sure Urmstongran will reappear once she's back in the country, I hope so.

I do miss Callistemon, I can't imagine why she was ever banned, always worth reading, with a good sense of humour, personally I like a bit of levity depending on the subject matter.

I hope all the posters mentioned will return they all had something to offer imo.

Very depressing that so many intelligent and interesting people have been disappeared - feels very sinister. I value the range of views, some of which I disagree with. It all helps me keep in touch with the wider world and stops me being certain that I am right all the time.

*Unless you have the ability to hide your IP then simply changing your name isn't going to get you back to the forum*

There are some easy ways around this. If you use a mobile device (as opposed to a laptop of PC) your IP will be slightly different each time you go online.

Then there are VPNS.

Exactly this! That is why some can come back after changing their username and rename undetected.

Yes it is. HQ just don’t get that friendships can be formed in groups like Gransnet even though you might never meet the person in real life.

We were all deeply saddened when phoenix died and every time jingl was banned I felt like I did at school when a good friend moved house and had to leave.

HQ lacks basic humanity. Behind every username there is a real person!

I agree with Terribull. If, as it seems, people are banned on the say-so of one poster, it’s as though we’re being ruled by petty tyrants.

I must admit that I often don’t notice the names of posters and can never remember who said what anyway, but I think banning people makes GN a less interesting place.

I presume GN has had to go "woke" hence a sort of restriction on honest and open debate. I think GSM lives in my area and when I go into my local town I have been looking for a lady with German shepherds out shopping!! I'm pleased she is not leaving.

I m so stupid I never manage to recognise old posters who change their names I really just read what people have to say and not who they are
Like others have said I don’t report only adverts or scammers like all the spells etc
I can’t imagine why anyone would have reported Callistemom, mind you I got a post deleted a few days ago and I can’t think why? as it was totally innocuous but I do wonder if the poster who said English wasn’t her first language got the wrong end of the stick and reported it it’s a mystery but worrying, if you didn’t say anything bad , and HQ don’t tell you what they think you said wrong No way to defend yourself No word from them about it !!

Like BlueBelle I don’t recognise anyone by their style and wonder why.
I have been on GN for coming up 10 years and remember Greatnan and her ssd story .
There are others who have left who I don’t miss but I have never reported anyone, not yet anyway

Let’s not beat about the bush.
These posters/friends have had their accounts terminated for whatever heinous crime HQ saw fit to discern.
Clearly there had been some previous reporting (HQ does not moderate on spec) and deletions., which would have arisen from the reporting.
Hate crime, racism, misogyny , libel, slander they were not.
We are adults on an adult site (don’t take this the wrong way ) and I saw no reason in any of the instances for accounts to be suspended or permanently cancelled
The goalposts are altogether too mobile - one jokey post warrants suspension or worse, another political opinion robustly expressed sends someone to the Gulag. Hmm, does that sound familiar?
So, if GNHQ so chooses I would ask them to reply to justify their draconian actions and explain to the mystified rest of us why we are deprived of the company of stimulating and respected GN members.
Of course they may choose to delete my post as being somehow “in breach of guidelines” - but since when are guidelines the same as laws ?
If it comes to it, move over in the dog house - room for a little one? 🐶

Surprised that GNHQ do not tell people why they have been deleted. How can posters "improve their ways" if they do not know what they are supposed to have done?

Surely people are not suspended or whatever, on the strength of one post that GNHQ do not like.

I do take on board though, that at the end of the day, this site is owned by GN.

buffyfly. GSM lives in rural north norfolk, just a few miles from me. Do you live here too?

GSM and myself hold very similar views on many things, particularly illegal immigration. We are in favour of controlled immigration and not afraid to say so.
