We have had snowfall for a few hours now off and on sticking here and there. Is it snowing anywhere else or are we just the unlucky ones I say that as I hate snow.

Love it but seldom get it here in North Devon,at the moment it’s very windy and raining…🤷‍♀️
The exception is Dartmoor,I believe they get snow there and Exmoor…

Ironically Ashcombe we were in France for our 8 month visit, I wanted my birthday there (March 1st), it was -12 on our drive down overnight and snow flurries near Bordeaux!

Plenty of light rain through the night in Bristol , but I doubt it’ll be cold enough for snow or frost…

It is now!

Hope my family will all get home ok, they are in Gloucestershire but higher up!

While here in Ontario where we should be snowed under, we have bright blue skies and temperatures well above normal and no snow forecast, long may it last.

None here in south Devon yet. Although there might be some on the nearby moors. Dartmoor often gets bits of snow near here.
I quite like to see some, but then am glad when it goes away.

I live in the middle of nowhere and set off in a blizzard (after clearing the snow off the car) to go to the surgery - a half hour or more journey at the best of times - and warning lights came on on the car half way. I rang the surgery on my mobile and turned round and came back and am now nursing a nice hot cup of tea. Phew.

It's coming down steadily here.

My Labrador was delighted to race about in the snow this morning. He got a shorter time to play as his human got v]cold despite being thermal head to toe

None here in Appleby at the moment which is a great pity as I LOVE snow, the thicker the better!

At least a lot of people are geared up to work from home now so they can stay off the roads and leave them a bit quieter for those who have to get in to work.

Here in Berkshire, we started with rain, which progressed to sleet which ended up in big wet snowflakes which were never likely to lie. The crisp, golden leaves are now soggy and, inevitably, slippery. I fear it will all freeze tonight.

Rain, rain and more rain here in the Channel Isles, and oh so cold.

gulligranny Tue 19-Nov-24 14:20:46

A big sloppy fall in South Bucks, still covering the car and lawn, but turning to sleety rain. Blooming cold too.

Marydoll Tue 19-Nov-24 14:23:18

It is 1°C here in Glasgow and the sun is shining!

It is usually us, who have the snow.

Snow falling all morning in Wiltshire but none has settled on the roads or pathways as yet, though a little on the grass.

Our magnificent Indian Summer ended yesterday, grey and cold, and today, it is raining- Can't remember when it last rained.

Snow is on the way for tomorrow- but we are very well equipped here, 4X4 with snow tyres, and roads are so well maintained and snow ploughs will be going around as soon as it starts. And lots of wood ready for the big stone clad wood burner. Bring it on.

Ah but do you have names for your gritters?

Fleurpepper Tue 19-Nov-24 17:12:33

Man or machine.

One of our gritters is a friend and Irish smile

We've had a bit of the white stuff here on the north coast BC. I suppose it will melt during the day, but it makes for slushy parking lots and roads.

We are supposed to get a big wind storm late tonight and tomorrow, but wind is normal here in November, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

A Gritter could still be a friend.
It could even have a name - Grainne Gritter?

A gritter does not have to be masculine.

Some of our gritter lorries here have been given names Fleur like Brad Grit, Grit Ashley etc. Usually they’re voted for by the public and reflect the local area.

grandMattie Tue 19-Nov-24 19:31:11

Well, I was wrong. It snowed most of the day, though only about 1/2” settled before inevitably melting. It didn’t go much higher than +2C but is due to drop overnight. It’ll be slippery underfoot tomorrow morning with the frost and wet 🍂 leaves…

Yes, my reply was tongue and cheek. A gritter can be the machine, or the man (woman? athough I know none) using it.

And yes, one of our local gritters (man) has a name and is Irish smile
