This year's is kind of cute although still seems too early for me. But isn't it a re-run of something, I recall the story of a dragon who caused trouble with his flames and was then hired at the bakery when the oven failed, was that a children's story I read to my children, Denis the Dragon?

I dunno.
There's some of us huddled over a 3 watt bulb, trying to cut down on consumerism, and we're bombarded with ads with Christmas lights, tables groaning with food... Tsk, tsk.

Ok. I'll be quiet now.

The JL ad is ten times better than the dreadful Boots one. It at least feels Christmassy.

This is just an observation not a criticism the Boots one includes a trans person on the bus if I’m not mistaken.

smile

I like it
I want a mince pie.

MissAdventure Thu 14-Nov-19 21:18:46

Oh now I do like those.

I've eaten --2 boxes some this week.

MissAdventure Thu 14-Nov-19 21:19:44

Well, that went wrong.
I blame Meghan Markle.

Is it just me or is the main girl character ( especially with her hair tied back) a clone of Greta-a subliminal image to encourage people to be nice to dragons in case they are made extinct. Oh, my mistake, they never existed in the first place! A nice advert though this year, the best since the snowman one.

Callistemon Thu 14-Nov-19 21:28:33

Dragons never existed shock
You must be joking!

BlueBelle Thu 14-Nov-19 21:29:22

Missadventure I m with you all the way load tosh and my brain will just switch off when these adverts are on we ve got weeks and weeks of this too

Gonegirl Thu 14-Nov-19 21:36:21

I had my first mince pie of the season today. I had it in Primark caff. Was lovely.

BlueBelle Thu 14-Nov-19 22:11:46

Mince pies are different they don’t shout and scream and pretend to be so jolly and happy for six weeks

MissAdventure Thu 14-Nov-19 22:13:22

grin

merlotgran Thu 14-Nov-19 22:37:20

I blame Meghan Markle.

I hope they were vegan mince pies. grin

Just read that JL have had to apologise as the ad is upsetting children and making them cry.

Gonegirl Fri 15-Nov-19 09:30:02

Give those kids a clip round the ear 'ol. Tell 'em to man up.

Urmstongran Fri 15-Nov-19 09:54:38

I’m missing out here in Spain -no mince pies for me then until we go back mid December! Maybe that’s a good thing ....

I liked Aldi’s Xmas ad last year too with Kevin the Carrot.

I think the baby dragon ad is cute!

Anniebach Fri 15-Nov-19 09:58:31

I liked the dragon advert, big improvement on Elton John

ElectricErin Fri 15-Nov-19 10:02:17

I haven't been that keen on the the previous few years of JL xmas ads but this one did it for me. (I'm collecting my Edgar at 2pm tomorrow! ) smile

Skweek1 Fri 15-Nov-19 10:02:38

We tend to look out for the JL adverts and this year's is cute and fun - anything has to be better than last year's Elton John personnal advert for EJ! Like the thread about our little dragon and wouldn't notice its non-PC aspects!

missdeke Fri 15-Nov-19 10:05:15

annsixty the song is sung by the lead singer of Bastille, Dan Smith.

gillyknits Fri 15-Nov-19 10:05:30

Does anyone celebrate the birth of Jesus anymore?

Gonegirl Fri 15-Nov-19 10:17:16

Not usually in John Lewis.
