This year's is kind of cute although still seems too early for me. But isn't it a re-run of something, I recall the story of a dragon who caused trouble with his flames and was then hired at the bakery when the oven failed, was that a children's story I read to my children, Denis the Dragon?

Ha ha ha no ones mentioned elf and safety yet

Nannan2 Fri 15-Nov-19 10:26:39

Sorry Ginny but i would have had to comment about cost of the ad- i do like it- but only cause my GS loves dragons- however i was compelled to email them at waitrose to ask why items for sale aimed at kids, had NO allergy- free alternatives in the food items-& theyre going to 'put it to the board' or some such.(to fob me off) but maybe they can use some of the millions on developing those instead? I do like the ad,but its a bit too long winded- and yes i dont see what its actually got to do with christmas, apart from he lights a christmas pud at the end.But thats not much is it.

It's very good. I enjoyed it but I only enjoy Christmas adverts so many times. I love the one, (I think it's Argos) where the little girl plays the drums with her daddy. She is so for real and I am not tired of watching it yet, which is something.

Gillyknits

'A dragon is for life, not just for Christmas'

Be warned, Anniebach
Here's one to be going on with dragon

Anniebach Fri 15-Nov-19 10:39:00

Thank you Callistemon I have a red dragon flag but want the real thing.

And looking at the amount of cardboard boxes for recycling how much easier having a dragon ?

Nannan2 Fri 15-Nov-19 10:39:36

Yes phloem some of us still do celebrate the birth of jesus, but we can still like a mince pie,a christmas pud,or a baby dragon.....gringrin yes,i like it better than the Elton John one, that was like a advert for EJ fanatics,so i hope he paid for that himself....

Nannan2 Fri 15-Nov-19 10:42:28

I must go,ive to pick up my waitrose order with the dragon storybook as they had NO dairy/soya free Edgar cupcakes or biscuits to buy so i got my GS the book as i do advocate a good read as well...smile

Nannan2 Fri 15-Nov-19 10:46:35

I think the message is about caring, which is what the girl is doing, caring about her friend the dragon, and also the dragon cares,so wants to help,or give something, hence, the lighting of the pud,as he's been helpful.??

Aepgirl Fri 15-Nov-19 10:59:40

Just love the ad.

TrendyNannie6 Fri 15-Nov-19 11:00:56

I like the advert think it’s great

NanKate Fri 15-Nov-19 11:01:30

Sadly not Phloe.

I have to send my Christmas cards carefully as not everyone would appreciate a Nativity scene.

polnan Fri 15-Nov-19 11:02:06

Thanks for this... I hadn`t seen it. I love my good dragons..

Craftycat Fri 15-Nov-19 11:10:09

Oh heck! Another one that will make me cry every time it is on!! I wish I was less emotional.

JacquiG Fri 15-Nov-19 11:53:20

Thank you for that. That's a Wow. Aaaaah.

knspol Fri 15-Nov-19 11:54:50

Make that 3 Bodach & Gaunt.

Jan66 Fri 15-Nov-19 11:56:49

I love the advert

pinkquartz Fri 15-Nov-19 12:11:19

Phloembundle

It was the festival of Mid winter first.....and now again
Hence the lights and food being so important

grapefruitpip Fri 15-Nov-19 12:11:34

Everybody hates me so here goes. When did the " Christmas Advert" become a thing?

People lying on our streets, children living in poverty, only today somebody in my area asking for childrens coats, and we worship a Christmas Advert?

*And all eyes
Blind with the pin and web but theirs, theirs only,
That would unseen be wicked - is this nothing?
Why, then the world and all that's in't is nothing;
The covering sky is nothing*

Camelotclub Fri 15-Nov-19 12:12:49

Song is by REO Speedwagon but it's not the original in the ad. From somewhere around 1981/2!

grapefruitpip Fri 15-Nov-19 12:20:24

Phloem, I am not a Christian, despite a few attempts. I believe the message of the gospels was caring for others and the birth of Jesus symbolizes hope.

I can quite understand how offensive this spend fest is to Christians.

quEEEniE Fri 15-Nov-19 12:39:12

does not beat Argos, which is up lifting , makes me smile

Conni7 Fri 15-Nov-19 12:43:58

Horrible. Spoilsport dragon, disappointing all those children. What does it have to do with Christmas?

Saggi Fri 15-Nov-19 12:52:03

Pass the sick bucket!
