Diamondlily I do understand you POV, having also had an ex smear me. I didn't respond and I went away quietly because at the time I did not have the emotional energy to deal with it. Unfortunately this may have caused many people to interpret the silence as guilt. However people will think what they want to even if you did explain.

Yes, addictions or regular consumption of drugs do throw something else into the mix. Harry does freely admit to taking various drugs, and I wonder whether doing that, plus using weird mystic healing therapies, has made him more paranoid and vengeful than he would have been otherwise. (This certainly applies to my estranged son, sadly)

Yes, it does take energy and anger to respond, but I can't just be libelled everywhere. If she'd have kept my real name off of her fantasies, I'd have probably just ignored her, but she didn't.🙄

I hope the RF are stoic - he's contracted to write another two books, and she's contracted to write one. Plus all the accompanying interviews.

They will, obviously, have to contain new stuff, so it's going to be a slog sitting there ignoring it all.

I'm sure the RF are stoic. From what I see on social media and the news, no one is that interested and everyone seems quite realistic. Sky News has nothing about H&M on their home page. After all there are serious problems in the world. The war in Ukraine. The NHS and so many more things going on.

Onwardsandupwards - yes, that is my main gripe with it all.

There are people really struggling here at the moment, and the squabbles of that over pampered lot shouldn't be the main headlines everywhere.

The more right wing papers, who tend to support the Tories, are burying proper news under this soap opera.

I honestly think Harry needs a Priest, a Dr and a Therapist, not to write more books. Money is not going to bring him happiness or he would already be happy.

I believe it has been proven that as long as we have enough to pay our bills, live well and eat well, most people are content enough and that having more money doesn't always mean more happiness. It can mean a better class of misery.

That's true. I've had GBN news on today and they are talking about other problems too.

They interviewed a man who bought the book and he said it had been written by a ghost and not by the Harry he had met in the past. He was saddened because he had thought of Harry as a motivational person and said that the book did not reflect that. He had read it all and was very sad.

Harry just needs a kick up his rear end, never mind therapists, etc. He's an entitled brat who wants everything his own way and blames everyone else for things that went wrong in his life. It's all so awful for him, but there he was sitting on The Late Show, knocking back tequilas with a big smile on his face. Life's so hard Harry.

Every day hundreds, no, probably thousands of children lose a parent in traumatic circumstances. PH's is not alone in his trauma, but most come through.

I saw some photos of the few Holocaust survivors still living the other day, then there are the millions of children, like my mother, who grew up without a father and in relative povverty because her beloved dadda died in the WW1. MY lovely DDiL's father died of cancer when she was 6. I could go on and on. Of course these deaths affected them for their whole lives, but they did not let it destroy their lives.

None of them felt the best way to recover was to reveal intimate and personal details about themselves to thepublic and reveal similar detaails about friends and family witjput their consent.

This is the behaviour of D list celebrities on Reality tv. Reading all the hype in the papers. The person who comes to mind is Katie Price, all boob jobs and boyfriends, someone having a long and dreadful public mental breakdown from which no one seems to be able to save her. Can anyone now save PH?

My two nieces watched their dad die of lung cancer at home when they were 7 and 11 years old. He wanted to die at home and my sister was a carer so was able to look after him, with the help of the cancer nurses calling in too.
Those little girls used to sit on his bed reading him stories, watching him, knowing he was going to die. The two of them were so amazing through it all and have turned out to be great young women, their dad would of been so proud of them.
Ok it wasn't in the public eye, but those girls still went through death of a parent at a young age with no therapy, nothing. Harry probably had all the best therapists at his beck and call, still has. He just seems to have a lot hatred in him and that's a big problem. Does he think putting it in a book might help, the only thing it helps is his bank balance, I can't see him ever being happy.
The Harry show is on full pelt at the moment, what happens when the limelight dims, oh yeah he'll just go and write another damn book and hurt others yet again.

Why shouldn’t Harry say how he feels? Why shouldn’t he describe his story, his experiences ? People seem so angry about that, I can’t understand it. I watched it, I saw no ‘hatred’ though, I saw a man describing his life experiences . That’s okay. He said at the beginning he wanted the opportunity to tell his own story as for so long its been told for him by so many different people in a distorted way. I understand that. How difficult and frustrating must it be watching people incorrectly and inaccurately describe your own life & who you are repeatedly… it would annoy me anyway.

That is only half the story.

JosieGE I see a man having a longdrawn out and public nervous breakdown. This has resulted in him writing a book that could have been a serious in depth analysis of the problems of growing up in the public life, but sound like the tearful self-pitying ramblings of a drunk crying into his beer alone in a pub.

We have been inundated by tales of intimate personal detail of his life and those around him, that should never have been published and can only appeal to the prurient and sensation seekers.

The tragedy is now this book has been published, it can never be forgotten and it will haunt him for the rest of his life.

That he wanted and needed to withdraw from public life when he did is clear, but I am left wondering whether he has jumped out of the frying pan into the fire, as the only way he can finance the expensive way of life he has foolishly adopted, is by monetising his breakdown and that can do his mental health no good at all.

No -and whilst I don’t feel aggrieved about anything, and am unaware, for most of my family, that they are aggrieved with me. Nevertheless there are things -my health, my family’s problems etc. that I feel are no-one else’s business.
But when I think if my estranged sibling, they would not only broadcast personal things that they knew would be upsetting for me, even though they weren’t personally affected.
Equally, based on previous experience, it would be ‘their truth’ not necessarily accurate, that would be broadcast, just like Harry.

I would also be upset.

I don't have an estranged sibling, but I would be upset whoever published things about me. It's a massive betrayal.

But if I had had a long term affair whilst married to his dead (and therefore hard to blame) mother then I would if I had any accountability think that I had deliberately hurt my children and that this response might be partly caused by my actions.

Obviously she wasn't dead at the time of the affair my wording was off but you get the gist. I just dont understand how anyone can be surprised that this behaviour is being exhibited considering the car crash that was their childhood.

Harry’s trauma at his mother's death was greatly compounded by the fact that it was avoidable. It is worse to come to terms with than something that is naturally caused. Similar to the extra trauma a child suffers through parental suicide. He also could well have some PTSD from going to war twice. It appears to be very common in other soldiers. He also lost his best friend “Henners” just after they left school. I think he would be abnormal not to be fragile due to all this. The last straw for him seems to be that his family were pandering to the press rather than supporting him and his wife.

Surely if he was happily married he would realise that a happily married man's first loyalty is to his wife and no son or brother should challenge that.

Perhaps his own marriage is not as strong as he would have us all believe.

But I've led a sheltered life.

What I want to know is why Harry and Meghan initially asked for the half in/half out relationship?

If life was so horrendous and everyone was plotting, why on earth would they want to stay at all?

After watching his interview with Stephen Colbert, I think that therapy has done Harry no good at all.
He came across as arrogant, with something of a "God" complex. He said it was only when he started therapy that he and his family started talking different languages and although he constantly tried to push them into "healing themselves" they didn't understand. He also stated that he only put his kill rate in the book in order to help other veterans to "heal" their trauma. The whole reason for writing the book was to expose the toxic relationship between the RF and the press because it is "terrifying for some of them" and he wants that terror to end with him.
He seems to be regarding himself as being a "saviour" for not just the RF but the world as well. Is this the result of successful therapy ?

A report here (Australia) from Lee Brown – New York Post- today says:
