Coincidence? Having mentioned the prayer and Annie responding with the actual Serenity prayer, this was in one of my daily readings this morning:

Joyce how are you my love ? My carer is a lovely, I get an hour of laughter 5 days a week. My younger daughter who pays her has
asked her to do extra time to come with me when I start going out in my wheelchair, when the council replaces the doors !

Don’t know when my Mini Tornado will come up, she is working extra hours because staff on the sick .

Annie that’s good to hear there no better medicine than laughter I think... hopefully she will be doing extra hour sooner than latter... sure your MT will get has soon has she can to see her grandmother?

Had had the day in York with my daughter yesterday, she’s back at work today after her maternity leave, she really didn’t want to go and leave her baby is sad...

Annie hang on to that 'when', I think we are all waiting to hear about it.

Joce hard for mums these days, I just gave up work. What arrangements has she made for the little one? Will you be able to do some of it?

Nonnie we all lose concentration while praying at times even the most religious of people do the same. We have active minds and one thought leads to another. Don’t think badly of yourself,
Good to hear you are feeling better in yourself. It is good to give hope to others that there are lighter times to come.
Glad your baking is going well. Home made is always nice.
Annie thank you. We are enjoying ourselves. A bit choppy but not too bad.
The serenity prayer is a good one to live by.
So pleased your career is a nice person and gives you some laughter and companionship. You have such little company. It would be great if she could do longer and help you with the wheelchair and getting outside, I hope those doors get fixed and you can get outside a bit.

Scaredycat yes we are having a good time thank you. It’s very cold and blustery but the food is good.
Sorry the AF is continuing. Must be upsetting not knowing when it’s going to kick off. Hope you are ok.
Joce good you are still plodding. Sorry your DD is upset at leaving her baby. Does she work long hours. Is the little one in a crèche?

I am late joining you today , very little sleep last night so had several naps today plus I telephoned the council re my doors !

Nonnie still when they fit them ! was put through to five departments and the result was ‘please leave a message’.

Joyce my Mini Tornado never refers to me as granny as does her brother and sister, she calls me Bro, has done since we played Super Mario when she was small, your poor daughter having to return to work, I am so thankful I was able to stay home with my daughters. Keep plodding my love x

My daughter will host it’s funny how life changes isn’t it I miss the times they all came here but just glad to be with them all.

Joce - hope you had a lovely day with your daughter. It must be hard for her to leave her little one . I was able to stay at home with my 3 but nowadays it’s not so easy for the young Mums.
Doodle- glad all is well on the high seas. Are you ok when the sea is less calm? I have little wrist bands which are helpful.Enjoy every minute.
Yes the random nature of AF makes it nerve wracking although sometimes there are triggers. The meds are very good but it is a progressive condition so I just make the most of the good days which thankfully are more often than the not so good.

Today I had an adventure we went to the cinema. As you can imagine I was really nervous but didn’t need to be as there were only 12 people in there! How do the cinemas make a living. It was lovely though to do another normal thing.

Annie I find that so frustrating so must be worse for you. Why do they get away with it, they are being paid to do a job?

Scardycat I know nothing about AF, what does 'progressive' mean in terms of your future?

Glad you enjoyed the cinema, we have two shows booking in the next couple of weeks and I am nervous about them! Last one almost everyone wore masks so I hope it will be the same.

Positive news - my friend's husband, who has been in ICU with Covid, went home yesterday. So happy for them both.

Annie brilliant news about the doors. Hope it all goes without hitch. I hope the new doors lift your spirits a bit.
I think it’s wonderful your MT call you Bro. Such a lovely affection.
Scaredycat nice to be with your Dd and family for Christmas. Times change don’t they. I remember when all the family came to my mum and dad. We always had all the aunts and uncles round.

I am new here, well I think I did introduce myself a little some weeks back, when Black Dog so kindly saw me on another thread and told me about this..

so, just need to express something.. dh been dead 2 years, all things considered not done so badly, well lockups didn`t do me anygood.. but for missing him, not too badly.. then got my winter hats out of a drawer and oh dear,,, his winter hat there.. really knocked my sideways, I want to cry, but I am fed up with crying.. couldn`t discard it,, though I think most of his things have gone, over a period of time,, not forced myself, just as and when I came across stuff, and was able to, not always..
so I just need, so I feel, I just need to say it... so thanks for letting me say this..

yes, the Serenity Prayer,, I will keep on trying... and pray for you all.

Polnan there are several here who have/ are coping with grief , be assured you will find understanding here so do talk of your
emotions when ever you need to.

My husband died over 40 years ago, his birthday was in November, I suddenly felt so sad and was able to say so here, my darling daughter took her life four years ago this month so
I was able to speak of my grief.

Annie- great news about the doors- hope they do a good job for you. Sorry you have SAD the lack of light is so hard to deal with in the Winter months . Is it possible to get a lamp to help you?
Nonnie- I hope you get to see your shows- it is difficult at the moment when you dip your toes into”normal” isn’t it. By progressive it means that the AF can get worse as time goes by- it is much more frequent than it was . Just take each day as it comes.
So glad your friends Husband is on the road to recovery now.
Doodle- Glad you,re comfortable on the boat,it,ll be exciting seeing land appear on Saturday.
I loved those old fashioned Christmas times when we were little- hope our great grand children will have happy memories of todays celebrations.
Polnan- so glad you are here and able to say how you feel. We all here know the pain of grief one way or another and understand.

Yesterday wasn’t a good day , builders came to fit new doors -
wrong doors ! That was the start of the day.

Hope no one affected by the storms.

How is everyone ?

Doodle 'gentle rolling' is enough to put me off, I get sick on a child's swing or in the back of the car!!

We also love the old fashioned Christmases, we have our own traditions and everyone knows what will happen next. Starts on Christmas Eve with DH reading The Night Before Christmas. Only those who believe in Father Christmas get a stocking so everyone 'believes'.

Oh Annie how can so much happen to one person?

You can all laugh at my expense. Went to the theatre last night on public transport, windows open for ventilation and a walk at the end. I had decided to wear a dress and shoes! Nearly everyone else was wearing trousers and boots, serves me right. Woken up to snow this morning so wearing a vest, two sweaters, warm leggings and 2 pairs of socks and not planning to venture out. Will be very different next time we go out.

Annie- I can’t believe it - how can something like that happen. They better bring the right ones asap. Hope the rest of the day got better. How have you been today - no snow?
Nonnie- oh you must have been frozen on your way home. Hope the performance was worth it! Hope all those clothes kept you warm today. We haven’t had snow just very cold and quite windy. Stayed in all day as felt exhausted from more AF shenanigans!! But started writing our cards and felt a bit Christmassy. Fighting anxious feelings as we are going away on Monday to see my sister and then my stepdaughter and want to feel better.

polnan hello again. I remember you popped into the BDG before. Welcome back.
I can imagine how things come back and catch you unawares.
Your husbands hat must have stirred some deep feelings.
Don’t throw anything out that means something to you. Just when you are ready. You are always welcome to say how you feel here and receive understanding for others. You are not alone. Remember that. You can always say how you really feel on here.
Annie I am so cross on your behalf. When is anything ever to go right for you. Any news when the right doors are coming?
Scaredycat it sounds quite winter where you are. I expect we will find it cold when we get home. Please try and enjoy your visit to your sister and stepdaughter. Relax and enjoy if you can.
Nonnie I am not a good sailor but haven’t felt bad during this trip. The rolling is quite gentle and a bit like being rocked in cradle when you go to sleep. Don’t notice it at all during the day. Your Christmas tradition with your DH reading sounds nice. Oh I bet you were cold on your theatre trip. Hope you enjoyed the show even if you were chilly.

I've started our cards too, we send a lot so I print labels and am trying to do a page a day. Want to get the foreign ones off next week.

polnan one way or another those memories will come back, nothing you can do about it except cope and and weep. That isn't meant to sound hard, just inevitable.

After the news yesterday I am now worried that my family won't be able to come for Christmas - again. I have bought loads of presents, turkey and ham in the freezer, mincemeat made, pretty much everything possible bought in advance. Now just have to wrap the presents and pray they can come. Yes, I know it is all very early but we have just had two weeks when our volunteering time has been reduced so I have taken advantage and done all I can. After this coming week we will be very busy right up to Christmas Eve.

I did have an awful day Friday, was so happy I was at last having the damn doors. Three men turned up to fit them , no
idea when they will be fitted now.

Neighbour telephoned me, woman next door has been given a
mobility scooter NHS, hope she will not go out on it alone but
I think it unfair if she is supported by the enablement team when I was refused support, not kind I know.

Mini Tornado may not have the job she has been waiting to start, when she passed her A.Levels a group of them celebrated!
they were rather noisy singing in the town, when she was given the job they did a police check, seems she and her friends were
recorded by the police because someone complained about the singing, there were no charges .

A lovely woman three doors up from me had a stroke, her son
has taken her to live with him, her furniture placed outside for
collection by council , nosey neighbours have been checking her furniture and mocking it, she is 96.

So I am really down, don’t like people !

Annie how unfair and sad. Not surprised you are down.
If I were you I would contact that enablement team and ask why they supported your neighbour and not you. Be interesting to know their arguments.
Hope you or your brother will put a rocket up the council and get those doors in.
Grossly unfair of the police to condemn your DGD for singing. Surely one can be allowed to celebrate their exam passes, Hope it doesn’t affect her application.
Nonnie I do hope your family can come. It would be such a disappointment otherwise after all your planning.
Kind of you to do volunteering. I expect Christmas is a busy time.

Oh Annie what else can go wrong? Life does seem unfair .
I’ve not had a good week. A ‘friend’ really upset me and I want to back off but unfortunately we are both involved in the same things so I will miss out if I avoid her.
Nonnie what sort of volunteering do you do? I help at a club in the church and at the local food bank.

Annie- no wonder you feel fed up. I do hope your brother will be able to help you sort out the total inefficiency and unfairness in their dealings with all your problems.
Fingers crossed that your MT will still be able to have her job- she is the sort of person we all need to work with the police.
What is wrong with people to be so unkind about a lady who is poorly and like most of us had her furniture a long time.
Nonnie - hope your family will be able to come for Christmas. I haven’t seen my son for nearly 2 years and he won’t be able to come this winter either . It is heartbreaking - so I do hope you see your family.
Ellie Anne- don’t stop doing the things you enjoy because of a thoughtless person- just play it cool for a while with her.
Well I have just been up to the village green with my daughter and Grandaughter to watch the big switch on of our Xmas Tree!! It was just what I needed as I have felt a bit down for a while . It was freezing but so nice to see families having fun- lots of dogs enjoying it too!! DH was supervising the dinner.

Must explain the problem with the doors is not caused by the
council or builders, wrong doors were delivered.

I was upset about my neighbour who has moved away, 96 years
old and work with the volunteer bureau for years, walked to
town every Sunday to attend the Quakers Meeting, an Angel.

Scaredycat I haven’t seen my younger daughter for two years, enjoy your few days away x

How is everyone?

Oh Annie do you think your could gently ask the enablement team why they are not supporting you as they are your neighbour, maybe they need a nudge? Failing that, what about your local councillor? They love boasting about what they have done for those in their community. Me cynical? Yes.

Sorry about MT but she will find something else, maybe better? Life is full of such things and she sounds the type to pick herself up look to the future.

My attitude to people like that, if I can't avoid them, is to 'kill them with kindness'. You can't say or do what you might like to so be the 'better person' even if through gritted teeth

My positives for today - the view from my window is wonderful, snow covered everything and no wind. Not quite so positive is that I will be driving to the show tonight and back again in poor conditions. However, I learnt my lesson last week and will be wearing a thermal vest, two sweaters, thick socks, boots and quite possibly leggings under my trousers!!
