Hello everyone. New here. Just found you all.
Anyway, I'm having a major panic over the first mammogram recall ever. All others have been fine until this one.
I'm 78. I have nothing I can see or feel but the anxiety levels are off the charts.
Anyone else having or had this ?
Any words of wisdom would be gratefully received.

Hello everyone, thank you for your kind messages.
I had my results on Friday 7 th
I have a tiny low grade cancer picked up by the mammogram.
Very treatable, not ideal but thanks to a three yearly requested mammogram I've been spared for worse.
Please everyone do consider keeping up your mammo check ups.

Best wishes to you Lemonnutmeg
I just want to say that now, with early diagnosis and modern up to date treatment, is a much better time to be diagnosed.
I hope all goes well with your treatment.

All the very best Lemonnutmeg. I had the same diagnosis 9 years ago after a routine mammogram and then a recall. It’s terrifying but like you, mine was caught early and after Lumpectomy, a couple of lymph nodes removed for checking and then three weeks radiotherapy all was good. I still get nervous awaiting the results of my yearly mammograms but life is good and I am sure my life was saved by the mammogram and early detection. I wish you all the very best with your treatment.

Had my usual mammogram end of Jan, was convinced something in my left breast(had a lot of pain for a while been docs had x rays etc but said it radiated maybe from my neck).

Went on the Monday to usual Mammogram letter came on Thursday for recall.

Strange thing is I'm sure the letters used to be pink, this was green.

After reading the letter and statistics I must say I thought Oh I'm fine, the letter filled me with confidence that most people do NOT have breast cancer and yes it was in bold print.

4 weeks later here I am recovering from surgery a lumpectomy and some lymph nodes removed.

Mammogram picked up something, small 11mm .
The consultant said I would not have felt it, it was quite deep in the breast. What shocked me! it wasn't the left breast it was the right! apparently they don't associate breast pain with cancer.

The words of the Consultant " The Mammogram has done it's job"

That would have been probably my last mammogram officially(although I would have requested further) but no I will be monitored every 12 mnths.

Three four weeks time I will know if they have got all the cancer and then onto radiotherapy.

App a Third of women do not go for their Mammogram screening.

Others in the room at same time is myself did not have cancer they had cysts or something that did not need to be looked at.

So good luck anyone that's off for theirs.
