Bathroom floor, please help!

Hello all, and good wishes.

The bathroom revamp has been done, and we are really pleased with it!

The pearlescent ice blue tiles have gone, replaced by Travertine (sort of sandy, camel coloured panels) almost black wood effect vanity unit and bath panel.

The ceiling and the parts of the walls that are not panelled are plain white.

We need to choose the flooring.

So far we have narrowed it down to either a honey coloured narrow plank wood effect, or black and white tile effect.

Would value your opinions!

(Will try to upload photos and screen shots!)

PS Another example of searching and doing a bit of research, was £569 plus delivery on a site on page one of Google, shock £245 plus delivery on Victorian Plumbing, eventually found it for £170, including delivery, 3 pages in! smile Made sure it was the same one by searching using the makers product code number. wink

Your bathroom looks very smart. Personally I don't think the black and white tile flooring matches. It clashes with the tiles. Wood effect vinyl would match better if you don't want black. In my last house I had an all white bathroom and put light beige tiles on the floor - it didn't match.

Thought you just may be interested in seeing the wood effect flooring in our bathroom. All the sanitary ware is white, so I liked the contrast of the slightly charred effect this gives.

MissAdventure Mon 30-Dec-19 20:09:16

How about a whiteish wood effect vinyl?
Whitewashed looking?

phoenix Mon 30-Dec-19 20:20:26

Stunning Auntieflo but wouldn't work in ours.

MissAdventure that could be an option, the same sort of thing is in the bathroom at work.

(Might sound odd, but my office is in a converted barn, with a bathroom just across the landing!)

I have charcoal coloured slate tiles and love them. They are smooth but look textured and shaded so aren't too bad about showing talc etc. Same effect could be got from sheet vinyl.
I have wet wipes in the bathroom cabinet. Just throw a couple on the floor with a sprinkle if Zoflora and wipe the very small floor with the wipes using my foot.

I have textured cushion floor, it offers more comfort and there are lots of designs.

I asked my friends when choosing mine then took no notice and went with my own choice.

I was also thinking a washed wood look, light, bright and definitely doesn’t show marks easily. Having said that I did like the look of the white/black. It’s truly personal. choice isn’t it?

Food for thought!

Any more suggestions, ladies?

Auntieflo Tue 31-Dec-19 17:05:48

Phoenix, have you looked at Amtico's Spacio White Ash Plank flooring?
Apologies for appearing to have an obsession with wood effect tchsmile

phoenix Tue 31-Dec-19 18:50:09

No need to apologise Auntieflo but having already gone waaay over budget, Amtico is out!

JuliaM Tue 31-Dec-19 19:04:49

I have a similar colour scheme in my en-suite shower room, we ent for a dark slate coloured Rhino floor vinyl in a tiled effect. In a small room, larger Black and white tile effects may make the room look smaller than it actually is. Whatever you choose, check the non slip rating first, some vinyls become as slippery as ice when wet.

You might be disappointed with square tiled effect flooring if the walls aren't completely at right angles.
If the units are not quite black - are they brown? I'd not introduce another colour (black) if the units are very dark brown, it might look like you couldn't quite find a match.

Sorry to be brutal but black and white tiles remind me of public toilets.

MissAdventure Tue 31-Dec-19 20:03:12

How about something different entirely?

SpringyChicken Tue 31-Dec-19 23:34:13

Phoenix, can't you borrow some samples from the flooring shop?

Curlywhirly Wed 01-Jan-20 08:49:20

Sorry, but think the black and white tiles, although looking nice, are now a little old-fashioned, we had something similar in our kitchen 30 years ago! It also is a very Victorian style and your lovely new bathroom is not a traditional one. I would go with a 'white' wood effect flooring, something similar to Auntieflo's suggestion, just a matter of finding the correct one.

phoenix Wed 01-Jan-20 19:20:15

MissAdventure "different entirely" that it is! Thanks for taking the time to make a suggestion, but I think it might give me a migraine.

MissAdventure Wed 01-Jan-20 19:21:53

grin
Right then.
Back to the drawing board it is then..

MissAdventure Wed 01-Jan-20 19:23:44

Industrial?
Concrete flooring, or vinyl that looks like it?

Auntieflo Wed 01-Jan-20 22:31:19

Everywhere I go now, I keep looking and thinking, "will this do for Phoenix?"
Even in a coffee shop weighing up their floor in the loo. You'll be fed up with us soon.
