I need to pay in a cheque. All of my local branches have closed. I know I can pay it in at the Post Office but I did this last year and the PO lost the cheque and it took weeks to sort out. Can I post this cheque to my nearest branch that is open with a paying in slip from my cheque book. Has anyone done this recently. Thanks

You can pay in cheques at any ATM Easy to do, just follow directions on screen, and you can get a photo of that transaction for your records.

Just in case anyone is interested, I posted the cheque to the main branch of my bank, It took 4 days to arrive and 2 days to clear the funds.

I use cheques to send to charities and also for gc as gifts on birthday or Christmas though more recently give them cash.

I would not want to transfer money to their accounts as they probably woukdnt even notice. At least a cheque they can see the gift.
Certainly the charities I support usually send an envelope which I use to send them my cheque.
I don’t do online banking but am clearly a dying breed.

I have just heard that the DVLA insist on a cheque or postal order(!) in payment for a Driving licence. When are they going to move into the 21st century?

I paid using their online facility

I take cheques or cash to my local post office, with a paying-in slip. No problems.
I still do occasionally write a cheque.

I write cheques all the time. My milkman has one every week. he doesnt seem to complain . I send for cheque books and the bank send them. I usually send my cheques into the bank by post. It takes around a week to clear them but I dont mind. Other than that I go to the ATM and take cash out to spend and use for many transactions

There are plenty of us still around who don't have smart phones, "Apps" and electronic banking. I know they want people to change but unless someone ( bank or government teat ) want to buy me a smart phone and pay for its upkeep/contract, then I wont be getting one. I have no real need of one outside of this.
