I think so many voted to leave almost out of nostalgia for the "The Good Old Days" but without any thought or knowledge
to what would happen. Now we all know a lot more and realise what a mistake it would be. We should have another vote, so many will have changed their minds.

They might as well just dissolve the whole of the nation and cut out the middleman. They don't want either a deal or no deal, they want the complete humiliation and bankruptcy of the United Kingdom.

Who is behind this? I don't look for conspiracies, but even I am ready to believe that it is political manipulation by some great power which has the final annihilation of Western democracy as a goal.

GGMK3 - if you lost 60% of your income, and knew that is likely to keep going down significantly, I do wonder how you would feel. But I said it- for me/us- our massive disappointment is way beyond money. My husband is British and has given his country his very best for 40+ years. Why is " not avoiding no deal" an AIM? Not having a deal is FAILURE. It is not an end in itself. How did it become a GOAL to work and manipulate for?

By suspending Parliament to force through a No Deal, Boris Johnson and the Government would remove the voice of the people. It is a dangerous and unacceptable course of action which the @LibDems will strongly oppose.

My first thought was that he wouldn’t have said that if he hadn’t already had the nod from the Queen that she’ll accede to his request.

I expect a vote of no confidence to be lost next week, what will Bercow allow to happen then, surely having lost a vote the government cannot just ignore it.

If the Government loses a VONC then surely it can’t govern. It would have no majority and no mandate.
It shouldn’t be up to them to say they refuse to go.

I would like to know this: given the choice, how many Leavers would vote the same again now they are aware of the likely consequences of No Deal?

Many of those I've spoken to say they would not change their opinion. They voted to Leave with no thought of any kind of 'deal'. They want OUT.

So whilst I can see that BJ's actions are 'undemocratic' in terms of Parliamentary protocol, are they in fact 'undemocratic' in that they do not reflect the will of the people? It would seem not.

Boris Johnson’s plan to suspend Parliament is not going down well with MPs, not least among some of those on the Tory backbenchers. Dominic Grieve reacted furiously to the news. The Tory MP said the Prime Minister’s decision is ‘outrageous’ – and he threatened to help bring down the Tory Government, even if it means ushering in a Corbyn government. Here is what he had to say on Radio 5 Live:

‘I don’t see how a Prime Minister who persists with this is going to find he is going to get to the 31 October still in office. There will be a vote of no confidence and his government will come down.’

‘I will certainly bring down a Conservative Government if the Prime Minister persists in following a course of action that is so unconstitutional. Yes.’
