A snap election?

The papers are abuzz with speculation that there is to be one called this week! Here we go again...........

varian Mon 02-Sept-19 17:44:10

Johnson is due to make an announcement at 6pm - it might or might not be a general election.

LullyDully Mon 02-Sept-19 17:45:45

A great idea of only there was a party worth voting for.

EllanVannin Mon 02-Sept-19 17:49:54

I don't think I'll bother.

Urmstongran Mon 02-Sept-19 17:56:54

Boris won’t yet announce a GE. He will address the nation to remind everyone that he expects his party to get behind him.

Or for MP’s to stand as Independent. (Good luck with thar one guys!)

It’s crunch time.

It really is ‘A Battle for Brexit’.

The media is febrile .... (lovin’ it, basically).

Smileless2012 Mon 02-Sept-19 17:57:39

Me neither EllanVannin but I've never not voted before.

Luckygirl Mon 02-Sept-19 18:02:58

All it needs is for the opposition to band together to defeat this ghastly fellow and start working sensibly on the thorny issue of Brexit. But will they do this? - no. Each one is after power for themselves.

Anniebach Mon 02-Sept-19 18:09:47

Do you want to be hanged or shot

Smileless2012 Mon 02-Sept-19 18:11:53

Thank goodness for that, no snap election.

growstuff Mon 02-Sept-19 18:12:00

Well, that was a waste of time!

varian Mon 02-Sept-19 18:12:20

Just listened to Johnson. He said "rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb"

Absolutely nothing except the rubbish we've heard before.

eazybee Mon 02-Sept-19 18:16:49

Good one Boris.

That is precisely your problem, Varian.

You don't hear what people say.

EnglishRose Mon 02-Sept-19 18:19:09

Well said Urmstongran, you are spot on as always. No mention of a snap election. A simple message to those who would try to undemocratically stop Brexit, especially the rebels within his own Party. Get behind the majority of the British people who voted to Leave, or it will be impossible to make a Deal with the EU before October 31st. If we leave without a Deal, and a Deal which is the opposite to May’s obvious attempt to stay fully under the control of Brussels, but with no Voice, then these so called rebels will have only themselves to blame.

Urmstongran Mon 02-Sept-19 18:21:12

He is keeping his powder dry.

It was a restatement of a known position.

Go away and think about your position Remainer Conservative MP’s.

It’s crunch time. ...

Boris is piling the pressure on. He’s playing ‘nice cop’ at the moment.

Cold Mon 02-Sept-19 18:22:10

Good grief!

Will this malgovernance never end?

Urmstongran Mon 02-Sept-19 18:23:15

Ah, thank you EnglishRose

It’s always nice to have validation!

?

EnglishRose Mon 02-Sept-19 18:24:05

You’re most welcome Urm ?

Riverwalk Mon 02-Sept-19 18:28:12

Why the theatrics of a Downing Street announcement just to reiterate what’s already known?

Urmstongran Mon 02-Sept-19 18:28:25

EnglishRose
??

Remain voters outnumber us lot on these forums, probably 3:1

It’s great to have a little extra support as and when.

Thank you!!

lemongrove Mon 02-Sept-19 18:29:06

Exactly EnglishRose and Urmston done outside Downing St on prime time tv which will be played all night long.?
So all will know, even those who take little interest in politics but voted ( either way) in the referendum, that rebel MP’s may be the cause of us not getting a deal!

Blinko Mon 02-Sept-19 18:29:46

Riverwalk, just what I was thinking!

lemongrove Mon 02-Sept-19 18:30:33

I bet Jeremy will be disappointed.?

chaffinch Mon 02-Sept-19 18:31:12

I was listening carefully to what Boris said. I never heard him mention rhubarb. I thought he spoke sense. For goodness sake, let’s hope M.P’s just get behind him, but I doubt it.

Urmstongran Mon 02-Sept-19 18:33:30

It’s ‘due notice’ Riverwalk to the Remainer Conservative MP’s.

Plus, it’s what Thersesa May didn’t do.... Let the E.U. know the U.K. means business.

No asking for an extension.

We WILL leave on 31 October.

Urmstongran Mon 02-Sept-19 18:35:45

Agree chaffinch!
