Sex party organiser in Number 10

My occasional glance at the Daily Mail is always good for a laugh, but this is beyond a joke:

His wife, Munira Mirza, is the head of the Number 10 Policy Unit, was a former member of the Revolutionary Communist Party and was one of Johnson's deputies when he was Mayor of London. She's been given the job of heading up the latest commission on racism, even though she has written many times that she doesn't believe institutional racism exists in the UK.

WTF is going on? First we had Cummings' attempt to appoint a supporter of eugenics. Now a swingers' party organiser and husband of a former communist.

Dinahmo I didn't want to go there because I have no evidence at all. However, given Johnson's past there is, I'm sure, speculation.

What is known is that Smith is linked with somebody whose house was raided by police and child pornography was found. Who knows how many "favours" are being done because there is seedy blackmail material available?

Given everything else which is going on in the inner circles of government - allegations of bullying, silencing scientists, nepotism, handouts to mates, appointment of a former communist to a key government role, overlooking of transgressions by some, sacking civil servants and advisers, stopping journalists from attending meetings, proroguing Parliament, not publishing the Russia Report, denying child poverty and racism, blatant lying etc etc etc - it's just another sign that this government isn't fit for purpose.

Anybody who has ever read Dominic Cummings' blog would know that this is exactly what he's been aiming to create. All existing values are being destroyed. Goodness knows where it will end. It's quite obvious that the government doesn't care one jot about you, me or Jo Bloggs down the road or behind the red wall. They can behave as outrageously as they want because they have such a huge majority.

In the current situation, I want a government I can trust to make the right decisions but what we've got is a bunch of amoral, dishonest charlatans and nodding lapdogs, who will say anything to further their careers.

Have to say I agree with every word, which surprises me, because I never used to think that way.

You Gov polling earlier this week shows Starmer neck and neck with Johnson in the preferred PM stakes

Various polls in past few days show that the tory lead over Labour has dwindled to between 3 and 5 points.

growstuff, I didn't know about the link between Smith, a police raid of someone he's connected with and images of children being sexually abused.
I suppose a gang of grannies could be accused of being narrow minded (though with most of this gang that seems highly improbable) but sexual abuse of children, surely everyone draws the line there.
We need a stable government currently more than at any time I can recall. We don't have that. The shady dealings summarised here make the Profumo scandal look like not much.

I think the Profumo scandal was rather different, Iam. The Cold War was still raging & for a government minister to have compromised national security in the way that he did, was almost treasonable at that time.
That’s not to say that the behaviour of Johnson & Cummings isn’t reprehensible.
It is, but internal corruption is different from what Profumo did. He made the gravest of mistakes, rather than deliberately using high political office for his own ends.

The Tory party has never had any scruples about its connections with sleazy characters such as pornographer and Tory party donor Richard Desmond, who has moved on from being proprietor of the Express to the more lucrative business of property development
