Phew! That's sorted then. Putin will withdraw.

Jaberwok Fri 25-Feb-22 17:20:10

Of course the RF have an opinion about Ukraine, they just don't publicise it. Why would they? No doubt it is discussed when the PM briefs the Queen once a week.. Unlike these ridiculous publicity seekers, the RF choose not to make their opinions public and draw attention to themselves. I think you'll find most, if not all foreign royalty are the same.

volver Fri 25-Feb-22 17:31:00

Why would they?

To tell Putin and the world that they support the Ukrainian people. To show everyone that their lovely Caribbean trip and planned big party isn't actually as important as war in Europe.

To show that they do actually have a human side. To do something useful.

As for other countries' royals, well they are a bit more human.

Are we all still proud?

On the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Ukraine's independence in 2019:
Queen Elizabeth II also conveyed her greetings to the President of Ukraine.

"^It is with great pleasure that I extend to Your Excellency my congratulations on the occasion of your national holiday, together with the best wishes of happiness and prosperity to the people of Ukraine in the coming years," the letter reads^.

I am sure she has conveyed a private message to the President of Ukraine in the last few days, despite suffering from Covd.

Callistemon21 Fri 25-Feb-22 17:40:15

Harry is, presumably, still on the Army Reserve List.

Callistemon21 Fri 25-Feb-22 17:40:48

And William on the RAF Reserve List.

volver Fri 25-Feb-22 17:47:53

Oh give it a rest, really.

Other people's hereditary heads of state are making statements, both verbal and in terms of their actions. The Norwegian Crown Price is getting ready to carry out the responsibilities of the Head of State.

While its clearly not done to criticise an ill old lady, we have a system that allows the Head of State to keep quiet and not make any statement at all on the biggest crisis in Europe for decades. And for people to go, well she's old and ill. Well I'd prefer a Head of State who actually did something useful. Even her son and grandson can't get it together enough to comment, let alone do something practical.

And if you think they'll let William or Harry anywhere near a war zone, I'll eat my hat. But I'm sure the President of Ukraine would have really appreciated the formal words of a little old lady while he was dodging the bombs and trying to keep his country together. Not.

Hello everyone - this thread is becoming somewhat heated. As our guidelines say; we'd appreciate it if you'd use the same courtesy when posting messages on forums as you would use when speaking to someone face-to-face... We take a dim view of mean-spiritedness, ganging-up behaviour, and rehashing old arguments.

Rehashing old arguments , 100%

As someone has said, it's a tiny paragraph on their website - and the Daily Mail has made a meal out of it.

Quite a few others have tweeted or twittered, commented on social media platforms, etc... so why even bother to mention it?

I'm not fond of either of these two (nor that interested in them TBH) - but I saw this topic and thought that they must have made some earth-shattering statement when in fact all they've done is what many others have done. And why not?

Sometimes, this ganging-up on high-profile individuals for something so trivial - trivial in the sense that they've just made a simple statement - is just plain nasty and unpleasant. Being hateful for the sake of being hateful.

... and the DM know exactly what they are doing... it's good copy, and they keep the vitriol nicely on the simmer. Ready for the next instalment.

That's it - not a popular view I'm sure but IDC.

Does it ever occur to anyone that the Queen - with her own views and perspective on the H&M saga - might be upset at some of the more spiteful comments about Harry if she read them all - not that I believe she does - the point being, that he is, after all, still her grandson?

The voice of reason.
They did not “speak out”.
A tiny paragraph on their website.

Well, Harry and Meghan gave us something to start a thread about; and someone started a thread on which to argue about them.

It’s a diversion plain and simple

FannyCornforth Fri 25-Feb-22 18:09:06

I mean a diversion for all of us on this thread

Yes FannyC, I'm glad I was out today. Having been named as a "usual suspect" on these threads, it is good to see that exactly the same thing happens without my input! (I recognise it isn't all about ME).

It really is high time that tedious pair put a sock in it.

... it might help if the Daily Mail didn't report their every breath, move - and stopped scouring their website to find things to make headlines about.

Because if you hadn't read their site - you wouldn't have known about the comment. They didn't use a tannoy system - the DM did that for them.

merlotgran Fri 25-Feb-22 18:37:46

Where M&H lead, others follow.

Russia has been kicked out of The Eurovision Song Contest!

How will Putin bear the shame?

vegansrock Fri 25-Feb-22 18:46:08

Well if the gutter press didn’t bother printing whatever they said or pay for photos of them and sheeple didn’t read or gawp at the photos of said couple then no one would know about it and couldn’t bitch about them - but why deprive them of their bit of fun?

You’ve had your hair done again!? grin

Oh yes, every 6 weeks. You have to work at looking this fabulous you know!

Read the room merlotgran. It's not a f***ing joke.

Exactly as they intended.
Or there would be no point writing something on a web site that people do not read, would there?

Blossoming Fri 25-Feb-22 18:53:16

Really GSM? I’m gutted.

Anniebach Fri 25-Feb-22 18:57:24

The correct statement-

‘They stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of
international and humanitarian law and encourage the global
community and it’s leaders to do the same ‘

What I don't understand is why they are called the Cambridge's but don't live in Cambridge. Likewise the Sussex's and York and so on and so forth. Weren't they historically given those titles because they lived there? None of them seem to live where their titles are

Well, the Devonshires don't live in Devon either.

My maiden name is a place name but I've never visited there. Perhaps I could claim the whole Estate.
Just checked it out and my Granny's maiden name is another large property name belonging to the estate.
I really think I'm in with a chance here!

thank you for explaining so politely

Callistemon may have been polite; but she wasn’t correct smile

If Harry announced that he was going back to the army to fight the Russians some of you would say he was doing it to show off and show William up.

You're a sad bunch, really you are.

Get me deleted if you're offended.

We know what H&M’s views are because they post them.
We don’t have a clue what the Queen really thinks because it’s part of the way she maintains her mystique and escapes scrutiny. If we really knew, well……….
