Before I head off into our garden for BBQ with DD & GC I have a serious question for the political experts here.

As I have turned away from Mr. Johnson and the current Conservative Government am I now a Champagne Socialist ?

Whitewavemark2 Sat 14-May-22 15:12:24

Of course not. You are just another voter like the rest of us.

You are probably a democratic who believes in the capitalist system just like the rest of us.

There are no economic socialists on GN as far as I am aware.

You may like me enjoy the odd tipple every now and then?

rafichagran Sat 14-May-22 15:13:03

Who cares, you vote according to your conscience. I have voted Tory in the past but not any more. I am not a champagne socialist.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 14-May-22 15:15:25

Whitewavemark2 I just want a government I can trust to do the right things for all the electorate…

(Off to open a bottle ?)

Why shouldn't the socialists have champagne too?

Champagne for all!!!

Well they can if they wish. But you won’t find any on here.

Fair comment WWM2.

I still advocate champagne for all though wink

Callistemon21 Sat 14-May-22 15:24:25

Yes but no but Mr Starmer drinks beer
Just saying.

?

You're like all of us who dislike extremism.

DiamondLily Sat 14-May-22 15:25:31

I'm not particularly a socialist, but I do like champagne. Having it tomorrow as it's DHs birthday, and DD and SIL are throwing him a bbq.??

I couldn't vote for any party that Johnson led. I simply cannot be bothered with adulterous, scrounging, self serving, congenital liars.

Which is what he is.?

Whitewavemark2 Sat 14-May-22 15:27:06

With the odd exception, everyone on GN seems to dislike extremism, we mostly meet in the middle but it is the way to achieve what we want that we disagree on.

DaisyAnne Sat 14-May-22 15:43:11

Good answer WWM and I can only agree. I don't think you're alone GG13

I'm still looking for a party simply called the Democratic Party.

I thought I might be a community capitalist. Yet, whenever I've thought I'd found a definition, I look it up and am stunned by what I read. So "Democratic", to include the little bit left, a little bit right or a little bit liberal and me as I feel like all three at times.

Does anyone fancy starting a party?

DaisyAnne Sat 14-May-22 15:45:23

Just realised that last comment might seem a bit crass at the moment. Sorry blush

volver Sat 14-May-22 15:46:08

I don't have champagne in the house but I've got a tin of Gin and Tonic from Lidl for when I watch Eurovision later.

I'm really not classy at all...

It just occurred to me that maybe DaisyAnne wasn't talking about that kind of party grin

Whitewavemark2 Sat 14-May-22 15:49:07

I think that I would classify myself as a democrat who is not a believer in a minimalist state.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 14-May-22 15:51:55

I also think that at present a capitalist economic system is the best way forward, but with a strong state to prevent exploitation of resources.

rafichagran Sat 14-May-22 16:27:34

I too would love a G&TVolver but I have had a procedure today, and cannot drink alcohol.
Damm it. I must be common too.

MerylStreep Sat 14-May-22 16:34:17

DaisyAnne
That’s the party I want.
I’m like that with religions. I like a bit of all of them.

Visgir1 Sat 14-May-22 16:37:21

GG13.. Yes you are, and why not?

MaizieD Sat 14-May-22 16:45:31

Well, I'm all for a mixed economy.

I do love a glass of champagne.

(Prosecco is definitely second best...)

AGAA4 Sat 14-May-22 16:58:39

I too have turned away from the Tories but I still like champagne. It is what it is and isn't mysogenistic or tells lies. I trust ?

BigBertha1 Sat 14-May-22 17:05:18

I've always been a Champagne Socialist (mainly Cava to be honest.

paddyann54 Sat 14-May-22 17:08:18

I'm not a fan of any sparkling wine but its not because I.m a socialist .I just prefer a good Italian red

Mamie Sat 14-May-22 17:34:02

I am a cava socialist. ?

henetha Sat 14-May-22 17:49:38

I'm going to have a martini while watching Eurovision tonight. Well, my version which is simply vermouth with a dash of lemonade.
I'm a liberal democrat and always have been. Don't like extremes. Don't like the present government at all.
People say it's a wasted vote but not in my opinion and it pleases me to feel I'm a moderate.
