Can you imagine Truss visiting Bute House. ?
Yes, followed by " I would like you to explain to me why you thought your comment was acceptable" .

So. The person who is likely to be our next Prime Minister told the party faithful at a hustings in Exeter that the best thing to do about Sturgeon is to ignore her. When told by the moderator that NS was democratically elected to her position, Truss said NS is just an attention seeker. Cue lots of excited clapping and cheering.
This is the woman who is meant to be our senior diplomat, who will be in the company of world leaders. NS was elected by 48% (or so) of the electorate of her country, Truss will inherit the job by getting the votes of something like 0.03% of the electorate. Ignore Sturgeon, you’re ignoring half the population of Scotland and telling them that you know better what’s good for them.
It’s the number one story up here but I don’t know how much its being reported in rUK.
Last week I called her a Welsh carrot. (You had to be there
) But it seems I over estimated her. She’s lost the place, as we say up here.

Kandinsky
And I’m certain many people in Scotland think NS is an attention seeker. We don’t take much notice of her down here.
Who is "we"? You don't speak for me Kandinsky, I am appalled by Truss and her ignorance and disrespect for an elected representative.
It doesn't bode well for our relationship with Scotland at a time when we certainly don't need further division and disharmony
????
NS & the SNP want out of the UK.
They absolutely HATE being part of the UK & want independence ASAP.
Good luck to them, the sooner they go the better. Then the EU can have them because they’ll never be truly independent’ - they’ll just be free from England which is all they want.
The woman is a disgrace, Carrot is too good for her. La Trusse, I mean.
All the

don't hide the snippy remarks kandinsky. I am not a fan of NS but recognise her as a democratically elected leader. When I listen to self promoting fools like Truss I recognise just how low this country has sunk. Can anyone imagine her trying to negotiate the GFA like Mo Mowlam and others did? People sitting at talks with others who they loathed, but putting their considerable differences aside for the common good? Listen to Truss and weep for what we have lost and for what we will lose.
Truss is over-promoted and doesn't think before she speaks - it was glossed over but remember when she said she supported Britons going to Ukraine to fight. Whatever was she thinking!
And just like Johnson, Truss refused to be interviewed by Andrew Neil, unlike Sunak. She obviously knows that she wouldn't stand up to detailed scrutiny.
Boris Johnson was our democratically elected leader - not many on here respected that!
The British public criticising a PM, and it was much-deserved IMO, is a far cry from the likely UK PM being so contemptuous and disrespectful to the leader of a home nation.

There speaks the voice of diplomacy and good neighbourliness.

I think you will find that was the Tory party. No one had any say on GN on his departure.
Yorkshire people do speak more bluntly than here in the South.
Not diplomatic perhaps, but many people do like that.
I suppose that half the Scottish people may well agree with the remarks? They really do not want to leave our union.
There speaks the voice of diplomacy and good neighbourliness
Well I’m not the one wanting to leave our neighbours Scotland - they want to leave.

And what has that to do with Truss’s crassness?
Nothing admirable about being blunt - it usually just means being rude.
I’ve had enough of this politics board -it’s anti English, anti Tory, EU loving, hypocritical & just plain silly.
Bye.

Oh, seriously, grow up.
Do we have to be polite about Truss because she is English and we need to know our place?
Take your grievances away and nurse them to keep them warm. We may be gone when you come back.

I think a lot of people on this forum don’t share your extreme right wing views Kandinsky, but that doesn’t mean we are a homogenous group, in fact far from it.

Even the Scottish people who do not want to leave the Union have not all rallied around the remarks. Except the radical Unionists like Murdo Fraser.
The FM is our elected leader and Truss says she is just going to ignore her. Its heartening to see that so many people posting on here understand why that is unacceptable.
I believe the remarks to ignore her were really meant to be to ignore the calls for another referendum.I do agree that could have been said in a diplomatic way.
It does look as if there will be no referendum for over two years now.If Labour win the next election they will look at this situation again.
Politician seeks attention. Hold the front page! What is Liz Truss doing?

It doesn't matter
She said she will ignore the democratically elected leader of the second biggest country in the Union who is trying to enact the promises they made in their manifesto.
No referendum for 2 years? We'll see. Labour will look at this situation again? Best have a word with Starmer there.
Can I just point out that the SNP last won an election 88 DAYS ago with a 45% of the vote
The last time the Tories won an election in Scotland was .....24,588 days ago .That would be 1955 .
Yet we've been subjected to tory rule for much of that time .
Independence is NORMAL ,or are you of the opinion that Scotland with its vast wealth is the only country in the world who cant rule ourselves?
Or do you just want to do what you did to countless other countries and bleed us dry before you "let" us go.
Our country our decision,no one can be forced to stay in a union as Brexit showed ..so why should we be.
Yes volver I will phone Sir Keir Starmer as soon as I have finished the washing and hung it out to dry.
He has always said that Labour would look at this again, but that will not be until after the two years from now.

Flouncing because people don't agree with you seems silly to me.
Having a debate about the views of a politician who will, if chosen as leader of the Conservatives, become the Prime Minister of the whole UK, and will need to work constructively with the elected leaders of the devolved admininstrations/governments, does not.
Damn, quoted the wrong post. Sorry Volver and Kandinsky, meant to quote the latter's original comment only.
