Was he taking a private phone call? That’s the least disreputable take I have on him, appearing to talk, laugh, wipe his face with his hand and appear to sway.

HAZBEEN

In this area he is known as someone who would attend the opening of a paper bag if it got him in the news!

Well, he has got his wish to be noticed now.

Callistemon21 Thu 22-Sept-22 11:04:13

Wiping his face and glasses - I could be charitable and suggest that he shed a tear and his specs steamed up.

Anyone who was there must know that the camera will zoom in on any one of them at any moment, if he hasn't the sense to realise that then is he in the right job ?

How do you think we feel, he is our MP here in Spelthorne!
You know what to do at the next election! ?

If he’s on medication that has this sort of effect he shouldn’t be Chancellor.

MissAdventure Thu 22-Sept-22 11:16:47

If it's medication, then I wouldn't mind a prescription for it!

Callistemon21 Thu 22-Sept-22 11:24:52

Perhaps he forgot to go before he arrived iyswim and wondering where the nearest loo is?

Silvergirl Thu 22-Sept-22 11:38:55

Possibly is on the spectrum for Tourette’s. Figgiting can be a symptom I believe.

Wyllow3 Thu 22-Sept-22 11:46:38

I read it as, "thoroughly uncomfortable with the occasion". I think speculation about Mental Health stuff is rather OTT and inappropriate for those who do suffer. Assmptions/labelling. BTW, don't like the man or his policies at all no axe to bring there.

Wyllow3 Thu 22-Sept-22 11:47:06

(No axe to grind not axe to bring.)

MissAdventure Thu 22-Sept-22 11:49:53

Surely he is in the wrong job if he reacts to being uncomfortable like this?

Smudgie Thu 22-Sept-22 12:31:50

Gosh, I hadn't seen this but, thank you for posting it!! I don't think he is on the phone or with a hidden earpiece. Even if he was why would you wear one to a funeral, he's hardly working for MI5.!! He looks like he is on drugs or is suffering from a hangover, whatever it is he needs to explain himself. It was totally disrespectful and typical of this useless bunch of politicians who think they are head and shoulders above everyone else. Having seen this I shall now be watching any interviews VERY closely.

Callistemon21 Thu 22-Sept-22 12:35:04

Perhaps he put his Y fronts on back to front?

(Just being charitable, thinking of excuses)

MissAdventure Thu 22-Sept-22 12:41:48

Itching powder in his pants, maybe?
(Or a different kind of powder elsewhere? Sniff...)

Farzanah Thu 22-Sept-22 12:44:47

Well I’m almost sorry for him, it’s not a great start, and he’ll have a job to stop this following him around for the rest of his time in office.

Curlywhirly Thu 22-Sept-22 13:02:39

Thanks for the clip MissAdventure this is the first I have heard of/seen his very inappropriate behaviour. To me he looks drunk (certainly 'high' on something). I hope Mrs Truss has had a word with him and asked him to explain himself. If the man isn't well or has an addiction problem, she needs to know.

MissAdventure Thu 22-Sept-22 13:15:05

You're welcome.
Strange, isn't it?

I'm saying strange because it may be something he can't help, but if it's not, then it's pretty terrible behaviour.

Kalu Thu 22-Sept-22 14:18:12

Whether his odd behaviour is due to prescribed medication or self medication, he is by no means fit to hold hold the position of Chancellor. I do hope Liz Truss doesn’t ignore this.

Iam64 Thu 22-Sept-22 18:47:21

Kalu, if this is ignored, Truss will be continuing the kind of behaviour that got Johnson ditched.

Tomorrow is his mini-budget, the 'Fiscal Event' - I wonder if he will do the morning media round as Therese Coffey did today to announce her waffle reforms.

Yet again Coffey was asked on Times Radio this morning as to her suitability to be Health Secretary on account of that photo of her obviously pissed, holding a wine glass and spills down her front, plus a cigar! A bit unfair IMO to keep bringing up this photo.

It will be a travesty if Kwarteng is not questioned on his unusual behaviour.

Fleurpepper Thu 22-Sept-22 19:30:45

He is completely off his head- à la Gove. Very worrying.

MissAdventure Thu 22-Sept-22 19:44:50

He seems perfectly able to deal with a public role in interviews I've watched.

I expect it's "stress" that will be trotted out.

I wonder what the royal family make of it?

I'd be very, very offended if it was my mother or grandmother.

Iam64 Fri 23-Sept-22 06:21:39

I’ve just skimmed the DM on line. No reference to this

NanaBabs1 Fri 23-Sept-22 06:37:34

Iam64 there seems to be blanket silence on main stream media which is, in itself, very telling. This has been running on Twitter since the day of the funeral!

FannyCornforth Fri 23-Sept-22 09:05:23

The media silence is very odd.
Has James OBrien alluded to it?
If not, then it really is strange.
I listened to some of his recent shows and haven’t heard owt.
Could there be an injunction or something?

Iam64 Fri 23-Sept-22 09:26:13

It really is strange that none of the print or news media is even acknowledging this.
That’s a point FannyC, but what grounds would lead to an injunction?
We are living in interesting times for sure
The opposition are silent
I’m away (lucky me) but I’m off to check John Crace
