The King has reportedly evicted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage, their residence in Windsor. Buckingham Palace let the Duke and www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1740755/royal-family-meghan-markle-prince-harry-frogmore-cottage-king-charles of Susses know about the plan to take away the property from them just days after Harry's tell-all memoir, Spare, was published worldwide, it has been claimed.

The Sandringham estate wasn’t grabbed. Victoria purchased it.

I do like a fact to emerge occasionally amongst all the hyperbole
😁

Chardy . George Vth altered the Prince and Princess titles in 1917 with a Letters Patent, which limited the number of royal relatives that could use these titles. Great grandchildren in the male line would no longer be titled Prince or Princess which had previously been the case. You can read these letters on line which clarify the matter concerning other family members .

I thought Meghan and Harry had refused titles for Archie, so I presume for Lilibet too?

Princess Anne did the same for her children, sensible woman.

Charlotte 3 and George 2??!! Err George is older than Charlotte, and was 5. I can assure you that George and Charlotte were not in the bridal procession leaving the Chapel, but came out with their parents.
Sandringham along with Balmoral was bought by Prince Albert, Balmoral for Queen Victoria, Sandringham (nobody stole it!) by Albert and Victoria for Bertie, the future Edward V11th, in the hopes that it might keep him away from the temptations of London! It didn't!! Amner Hall is part of the private Estate and within the Monarchs power to gift. It is rumoured that KC111 may well gift Balmoral to Scotland, only retaining Birkhall about 7 miles away from the main castle.

Yawn. Not my circus, not my monkeys

But a chance to post?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 04-Mar-23 11:15:12

I don’t think titles were offered Calli. Can you imagine M refusing? She said (erroneously) that A not being given a title was due to racism.

Meghan was extremely unkind to 3 year old Princess Charlotte, that is why she and George did not follow the happy couple down the aisle, but came with their parents.

That's funny because here they are walking down the aisle. Charlotte is 3 George is 2

No Charlotte is actually number 4 in the photo.

Jaberwok is right they did not follow the couple down the aisle after.

It’s been mentioned several times here that Royal Lodge has 30 bedrooms. It’s my understanding that it has 30 rooms, including staff quarters. The number of bedrooms reportedly is ten. Frogmore Cottage has variously been reported as having five, seven or ten bedrooms. However many it has it seems perfectly adequate for the Dof E, his ex wife and visiting family. Perhaps not grand enough for his inflated sense of his own importance but still good enough for a non contributing member of the family.

merlotgran Sat 04-Mar-23 11:28:40

A few people tying themselves in knots this morning.

I thought the DofE was no longer with us.

They allegedly turned down the Earl of Dumbarton for Archie.

Can’t say I blame them on that one.

Maybe all the royalists could chill out a bit?

A source close to the couple has said they are “OK” with the King’s decision and are “not fighting it”.

The Times quoted the source as saying: “It is what it is. They are not fighting it. They realise they have a home [in California].

“They have a roof over their heads. They were very privileged to have a second residence. It’s not going to work out for them there, and that’s OK.”

When you've refused a title because you say you don't like it, you shouldn't claim that no titles have been offered due to racism as clearly this is NOT TRUE.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 04-Mar-23 11:39:56

They couldn’t fight it anyway. The lease is coming to an end and the landlord decided not to renew it.

And as their voice piece has said, they're fine with that.

So. Storm in a media created teacup.

Second rate ongoing soap about a highly privileged family. I switched off some time ago.

Meghan and Harry's "voice piece" is too vocal and a stirrer in my opinion.
But so are "palaces sources", so no one wins!

But here you are still posting about it, so it’s evidently not wasted.

Second rate? Meghan is a famous A list actress apparently.

I enjoy reading all your posts about history, you seem to know a lot and be genuinely interested in the subject.😃

Jaberwok Sat 04-Mar-23 14:57:08

Oh thank you Oreo. Lets just say that along with English Literature, History was and is my favorite subject. I've built up knowledge over the years by reading and researching, particularly royal history. It's fascinating, and so full of if, buts and maybe's , a bit like doing a jigsaw, getting the pieces in the right place, some easier than others. Did Richard 111rd murder the Princes? What if Bosworth had ended differently? What if the first Queen Elizabeth had had children?, the list is endless!

Smileless2012 Sat 04-Mar-23 15:02:46

Maybe H & M should get Omid Scobie to talk to them before he talks to the media. He's the one who said they were upset as are two other members of the RF.

Great post @ 11.05 Jaberwok. Very informative, thank you.

Jaberwok, that's interesting. I'm not a historian, more interested in family trees. Thanks.

Jaberwok Sat 04-Mar-23 15:54:11

You're very welcome Chardy. Family trees are interesting, and can at times, be quite an eye opener, sometimes for good, but not always. Fascinating stuff though.

paddyann54 Sat 04-Mar-23 16:09:58

Given that Dumbarton is a very socialist town I think most there are delighted he didn't want the title .

Gundy Sat 04-Mar-23 16:14:08

This is a good ending Jaberwok! Let’s leave it there. We’ll know more come May.
