Not quite there yet, however . Get ready for yet more of his manic speeches
Cannot wait for his bat crazy eating garbage orange faced triumphant speech , he’s expected on stage very soon .

The people of America voted in their millions and the majority voted for Trump. End of.

It seems a fairly even vote - some people must like his policies.

He has no politics… he is out for himself only… he will be a figurehead to the radicals who are behind him…who will ‘govern’ whilst he goes of golfing and escapes all his criminal charges…oh and coins it in on the side as he did last term in office!

So how will the White House staff manage a president who is displaying every indication of edging towards dementia but has been mandated to have access to the nuclear button?

Let's wait and see if he gets in,seems the sensible thing to do. He can't just go into the nuclear housing and press a button off his own back you know. There are huge safe guards against this happening.

There WERE huge safeguards… but he will dismiss them and pack alldepts with is radical loyalists!

I’ve been following the election closely but will now have to switch off from it. The sight of that man is not good for my well-being but I feel sorrier for democratic supporters in the US who will have to live with him for the next 4 years. At least he won’t run again in 2028.

Hear Hear, but he might change the law to run again, or AS HE SAID “ you will never have to vote again” …. In my opinion he intends to stay! Horrific thought that that is!

You're OK with a president who has been shown (by himself, even!) to despise and denigrate women? 50% of the population? Wow.

Rhinestone Thu 07-Nov-24 12:20:24

How has she been inept? She was the Vice President . She could NOT make policy . Her role is to support the president , break a tie in the senate and certify the election . That’s it.

Rhinestone Thu 07-Nov-24 12:25:16

Many of the people who quit their role at the White House left because he was unhinged. If for any reason he gets ill or dies in office we are left with Vance. He made up the rumor that Haitian people in Ohio are eating cats and dogs and he admitted it was made up . He said childcare should be provided by grandparents . So this is what we will be left with. Honestly I’m too old and tired to fight for what I all ready fought for in the 60’s and 70’s.

When Johnson was elected here people said his flaws were 'priced in'. I guess in electing Trump the same applied. Harris, like Corbyn, was a mediocre candidate. She failed to make the grade in the Democrat Primary when Biden was selected and I doubt she would have been the candidate in 2024 if the selection had been competitive.

Not my call who is POTUS

There system allowed him to run, the people voted him in.

Cannot see the point of denigrating people for their decision, their vote their choice.

Fleurpepper Thu 07-Nov-24 12:52:40

Hitler was elected democratically of course.

Many chose to 'denigrate' him and fight everything he stood for.

I think the apparent 'swing to the popular Right' is masking what is really happening: it is a safe oblique rejection of gender ideology, with its threat to women, their language and the laws protecting them.
It's why Musk moved from being a democrat to Trump.. because his 16 year old son (now a 20 year old transwoman) was given puberty blockers and hormones against Elon's will but he gave permission under pressure by threats of suicide. He vowed to stop it.
People are sick of it but don't want to be labelled transphobic so tight is the grip of the 'progressive' left. It's affecting sport, childbirth, the law, language itself all orchestrated by a band of elite TransRightsActivist's. That's why Growstuff. The engine of politics is being driven by this area of elite woke-ism and no longer by class. Trump could see this. He is fearless and he saw a massive gap where the lower classes were not being represented at all. So he stepped in. Didn't patronise them, drove a garbage truck when they were called garbage...

You have misunderstood my post.

Many on here are denigrating the electorate of the USA for their vote, which I think is rather childish, similar to the angst shown towards those who voted for Brexit and the Conservatives here in the U.K.

Sorry the Hitler trope is trotted out so often on these N & P threads that it has become meaningless.

I'm just wishing America well and hope that President Trump does his best for their country. He definitely needs a proper border to stop the Mexican drug cartels. Can't understand why Biden didn't make that a priority.
I really liked Obama as he seemed to care about the people and started Obama care.

Yes, agree...people are sick of being told they are thick stupid for wanting to protect their country borders., for wanting to protect and keep their food production ,industry, water and power supply in their own country and not beholden to the whims of another country at the mercy of eg Putin or China

Nan0 Thu 07-Nov-24 13:29:42

Does Trump have brownshirt stormtroopers and lock up and torture people and confiscate their homes and property? I thought that was more Putin, or Xi or Kim il Jong line

Nan0 Thu 07-Nov-24 13:30:42

How has he,shown he hates Jews or 'Blacks'?

GreyhairedWarrior Thu 07-Nov-24 13:31:41

I live (and vote) in the USA. I’m getting strong 1930s Germany vibes. The German people loved Hitler - he gave them a common enemy and promised to make Germany great again. It didn’t end well. The only bright spark I can see is the unlikelihood of Americans wanting Lebensraum.

I disagree. Hitler is a lesson from history that needs to be remembered and not be allowed to be repeated. That is why any parallels with his rise to power and subsequent deeds need to be watched out for and called out.
