We're VERY excited to announce that we are finally testing out a new site design! We've been working really hard to make sure it's easier to user and looks neater than the current format.

It is a test though and it may take a day or two to get used to. Apologies in advance for any teething problems - hopefully they'll be minimal. If you have any major problems logging in or you can't access certain things please post on this thread or email us at contactus. We'd love to have your thoughts. smile

bikergran Fri 04-Aug-17 21:49:17

Could we have maybe have a logo with a gran swinging on a rope swing over a river smile or bungee jumping smile

BlueBelle Fri 04-Aug-17 22:03:01

My fonts the same as before, just normal I don't know what youre all on about and the same size ?????? Obviously I can make it bigger or smaller myself but it s coming up usual size ?
Not sure aboutitalics

BlueBelle Fri 04-Aug-17 22:04:35

So ^ italics^ not working * is bold* or underline

GracesGranMK2 Fri 04-Aug-17 22:18:53

I'm afraid I'm finding it hard to read. Admittedly I would use a blue type against a white background (Guest posts are much easier) so the letters stay still which is probably not a problem many have. I don't know what has changed type-wise but it is more difficult for me.

Do we still have PMs - I can't see them?

Mumsnet is so much more restful to look at. This is making my eyes ache.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I liked things the way they were.

Italics seem fine on mobile site.
italics

Lona Fri 04-Aug-17 22:40:34

Definitely not though on Desktop.

rubysong Fri 04-Aug-17 23:16:36

I use a tablet and try to keep my Gransnet on the 'desktop' style. Please leave me that option! I think that would be a deal breaker for me. If I don't feel comfortable with the look of it I won't want to visit.

I much prefer this new font. I really struggle to see screens clearly and end up squinting other having to try to enlarge the written word, but this is so much better. If the emojis could be a little bigger too, that would be great!

BlueBelle Sat 05-Aug-17 04:39:50

Lona when I m on 'mobile' because I use an iPad your italics didn't work at all in your message BUT if I put my iPad onto 'desktop' then your italics do work
Can anyone explain this ?

Hipsy Sat 05-Aug-17 06:01:17

Prefer the font but bright background is really making my eyes ache (laptop) sad

Nana3 Sat 05-Aug-17 06:27:04

iPad screen much too white and bright, have to angle it to make it not hurt my eyes. I prefer more colour. Font okay but I prefer the plainer one.

Anya Sat 05-Aug-17 06:44:27

hmm the font is too old fathioned, not appealing and needs to be a tad stronger. Screen very white on iPad. If I try to adjust brightness then font loses definition. Don't like grey headers but anything better than the pinky colour we had before.

travelsafar Sat 05-Aug-17 07:23:36

I am not keen on the changes.I find the font is not easy on your eye and i much prefered the other style.

ninathenana Sat 05-Aug-17 07:40:09

MOnica I see italics in ylur post of 21.35 yesterday confused
I'm using my android phone.

ninathenana Sat 05-Aug-17 07:44:27

Very odd that I have no colour on the Active page on mobile with my phone but I still have colour on my Kindle with mobile site.

JackyB Sat 05-Aug-17 09:22:31

I've only looked on the tablet so far and the font is smaller than before. OK I can adjust that, but can I change the font? (I don't like the serifs either)

cazthebookworm Sat 05-Aug-17 09:36:27

Insipid, child like, boring, old fashioned...........sorry confused

Indinana Sat 05-Aug-17 10:01:34

Well ain't this just terrific - stereotyping or what? So Mumsnet has lots of colour and a modern, sans-serif font, while we grans get the monochrome look with an old-fashioned serified font. To match the boring, grey-haired, old-fashioned bunch that they obviously think we are hmm

Jalima1108 Sat 05-Aug-17 10:01:48

I am trying to look on the bright side - I may not spend so much time on here therefore I may get done more of those things which I have left undone.

kittylester Sat 05-Aug-17 10:03:56

Noooo, Jalima!

Jalima1108 Sat 05-Aug-17 10:06:29

I have a house and attic which need de-cluttering
crafts left unfinished
kitchen needs re-decorating
etc etc

Thank you GN!

Jalima1108 Sat 05-Aug-17 10:07:04

Garden needs weeding .....

Alima Sat 05-Aug-17 10:09:18

Are they listening do you think? Will it be a case of we get what we are given? Will we have to wear a wishy-washy lanyard? Sorry, last bit wrong thread.
