Are you a longtime lurker? Love reading our threads but have never actually posted yourself? Then this is the week for you!

Simply say hello here, or post on one of our special lurkers’ week threads (which will all be listed here over the course of the week) and you could win one of our special prizes just for joining the fun.

What are the prizes, you ask? WELL <drumroll> we have an assortment of glorious goodies, from a limited-edition collection from Look Fabulous Forever, to a £50 voucher from the gorgeous jewellery retailer Merci Maman, from brilliant board games from John Adams to champagne glasses from Prezzybox and a year's supply of ebooks from Boldwood Books - and more! (Did we mention the money-can’t-buy, limited-edition Gransnet tea towels?!)

Posting is quick and easy - but if you have any questions, head over to our handy ‘getting started’ guide. This week we will also be running tips on how to get the most out of the site - and if you can't yet tell your DIL from your SIL, here's a handy guide to Gransnet acronyms.

Regular posters, fear not...as if we would leave you out of the fun. Seasoned gransnetters who extend the hand of friendship to newbies will also have their names put in the hat, just for being lovely people.

So welcome all. Don't be shy! Do post!

Say hello. Tell us what you like about Gransnet and join our warm and wonderful community. Happy posting!

And if you enjoy the site but haven't yet joined (it's totally free), you can do so here.

Another opportunity for you to win a spot prize here grin

Did you know that you can upload photos to posts on Gransnet? To find out how, visit the thread here for instructions: www.gransnet.com/forums/site_stuff/1274378-Lurkers-week-tip-of-the-day-posting-photos#prettyPhoto

To get you started we want you to post a photo of your favourite mug on the thread above - and we'll be choosing a user at random who posts an image on the thread to win a prize. brew

I too am a lurker. I have commented a couple of times but....
I have two grand children and two children and my hubby and our wonderful dog.

The beauty product I can't live without is sanctuary body scrub. It gives an all over glow and helps with dry skin.

And now we come to the winner of the first of our featured prizes (you can see what's up for grabs on this page).

A reminder that we will be giving away one of these five featured prizes a day. For clarity, this is how the prize draws will work.

We will put all the special lurkers' week threads from the previous day in a hat and choose one at random. So, for example, the one from day one (Monday) that got picked out was 'What was the first single you ever bought?'

We then check the number of posts made on this thread on the day we started it (the thread may continue happily for some time afterwards but for the daily prizes we will use these parameters) and use random number generator to pick out one post at random. And that's it!

So yesterday we had 176 posts on this particular thread. We (obviously) discounted post number one from the draw as I am not eligible - and then random number generator did the rest.

The winner is post number 59 on that thread - so congratulations frasus - we will be in touch very soon.

I read Gransnet every day since my husband died . I came across it when I was feeling very lonely and I love the threads that make me laugh. I have posted only once though but will join in more from now.

Hi! I like to have a regular read up so I guess I am a lurker

dubaigran Tue 10-Mar-20 15:04:50

Hello All, this is my first post so another lurker, sorry! I usually check my mail at night and there's a bit of a time difference so anything I might have added has already been covered by the other posters. Hence the appearance of lurking. I do enjoy reading the newsletters - most days something makes me laugh or cry.

Flowerpower22 Tue 10-Mar-20 15:09:33

Good afternoon. I'm a lurker and have been for a year or more. Lurking is one of those words I try to use from time to time as for some reason it always makes me smile. Not that you can use it very often! I love words.

Tea and cake Tue 10-Mar-20 16:20:34

I've posted but not recently. I am definitely Lurker material!

Cathie58 Tue 10-Mar-20 16:43:53

Hello all, sorry to be lurker but I do love reading your posts. I have learned lots from you, so thank you!

Rowsie Tue 10-Mar-20 18:10:54

I never realised I was a Lurker (at first I thought that was a dog but I believe that is Lurcher, then I thought it was like a stalker!) I am more likely to read than post but here is my first post; Hallo all!

danikagrace Tue 10-Mar-20 19:43:43

I love the community feel and feeling less alone in worries and life in general when reading about people feeling very similarly

freefan Tue 10-Mar-20 21:12:02

I'm also a Lurker, and like some of the others who have posted I am also a daily visitor and read lots but this is the first time that I've plucked up the courage to post and I'm so glad to see so many others.
Hi everyone smile

Ramblingrose22 I live just outside Seattle in Kirkland, WA where most of those who contracted the virus lived in a health care facility. They were transported to the nearest hospital where several of them died. I think the staff at this particular health care facility behaved incompetently and waited too long before taking them to the hospital. Our life here has been impacted significantly. I belong to a ladies' group that meets monthly for lunch on the second Wednesday---cancelled. My husband and I attend a sporting group dinner on the third--cancelled. I'm a little afraid to sneeze or cough without alarming others.

angiehoggett Tue 10-Mar-20 21:50:53

long time lurker here ready to start posting more though!

LadyKathleen Tue 10-Mar-20 21:59:12

I'm really not put off or upset by any criticism against the "Ugly American" by a Gransnetter or anyone else for that matter. No matter where I've travelled, whether at home or abroad, I cringe when I see someone from the United States behaving poorly. As for Halloween, I've never really enjoyed it. I'm glad that other people love to dress up in costumes, but I'm not one of them.

Hello , I am a longtime lurker, love popping in occasionally to read all the fab posts.
