It’s a bigger challenge drawing men in to either Mumsnet, or Gransnet. I think it’s mainly because most men aren’t chatters in the same way women are. They are more drawn to subject specific sites and talk about their hobbies etc there.

I hope GN survives in some form or other, I've been with it more or less since its inception discovering it via MN. I do find MN very intresting and entertaining at times and in many instances still very relevant to our age group, after all we are not defined by being a grandparent just one facet of our lives surely. MN being such a huge entity is far more impersonal than GN. GN has a much more intimate feel and I'm sure I'd speak for many, it's easier to develop a cohort of posters of whom we feel an afinity with. The support threads in particular are one of the positives of this site.

I don’t like mumsnet,personally but if I was younger I might I suppose. My children have all grown up, a different stage in our lives. Different interests, different perspectives.

I go on there occasionally.
Mainly the property, and sometimes holiday topics.
I want[and sometimes need] to keep current.

I find Gransnet is especially easy to navigate compared with other interactive social media.

Gransnet could do with an image makeover. For most people there is nothing especially interesting about being a grandparent, elderly, or middle aged. Gransnet could have more readers for its adverts if its image(branding) , especially its name ,cast its net more widely. Mumsnet's image is even more limiting than that of Gransnet.

For what it's worth, I visit Gransnet for its breadth of topics and its easy and welcoming format.

I went over to MN to look. Couldn’t find anything.

Well I used to go for Mumsnet but when it changed its format I disliked it so much I just kept with Gransnet. I also found Gransnet more interesting and informative. Certainly it is kinder and more “grown up”. I wonder if the huge number of viewers is really Mumsnet and Gransnet combined.

I see her as a feminist, someone who was extraordinarily brave in terms if standing up for womens rights, under extreme pressure.
I don't mind people making money from the skills they have.

There is at least one niche forum on MN, "Black Mumsnetters" possibly others, I wonder whether that would be an option for us, "Old Older Mumsnetters" although there would need to be umpteen sub headings to operate as we do now.

In the early days, Justine joined in with threads occasionally and has interaction with us.

I don't mind her making money from something she was brave enough to set up and which has given me enormous pleasure, and help, over the 14 or so years that I have been a member.

I hope it doesn't become slick and blingy - i like the homeliness.

She also turned down advertising that didn't fit with the ethos and when advertisers were threatening to pull revenue because of the gender debate she stood firm and supported womens rights.
