I Have to admit that at this time of the year I DO like a bright lipstick.
think it gives one a lift . My colour at the moment is Estee Lauder, "Fireball"
Which might give you an indication of my taste .

I don't blame you, I feel evangelical about them too but because they were cheap - about £2, 20 years ago which goes to show how long 6 lipsticks lasted me - none of my friends would buy them! I could only buy them directly from Ultraglow in boxes of six, I remember now, I panicked when Superdrug stopped stocking them and tracked them down, but forgot the contact details. It's lovely to know they still exist. If I buy 10 this time, that should see me out. grin Or at least get me to the stage where I shan't care.

Sel and janerowena - thanks for the information on Magic Lipsticks. I have just ordered three from amazon. Wasn't sure which colours to go for, but look forward to trying them out smile

They go different colours on different people, so I couldn't advise.

Bellasnana Wed 11-Dec-13 17:32:58

I chose the green, white and peach, so we shall see !hmm

The only one I can get to stay on these days is Urban Decay. And they do a fab, rather scary red.

Nonu Thu 12-Dec-13 21:03:25

The only thing I find with lipstick that stays , it is very drying to the lips !

I love all kinds of lipsticks, they can cheer you up amazingly. As long as you get the shade right for your own colouring of course. If I'm just around the house I will use a nivea type gloss to help combat dryness, but I always wear a colour to go out.Yes, you DO get what you pay for, but an expensive lipstick will last quite a long time, and better to have 6 good ones than twenty cheap ones.Does anyone remember Yardley lipsticks in the 60's and early 70's?I loved the smell of them.

The best lipstick - and I love the stuff - is Christian Dior Diorific - horrible price but well worth it.

Here's my foolproof plan for long lasting bright lips. First step a slick of foundation - then a pinky brown liner (a natural colour like lips - it stops the colour bleeding) then put the lipstick on with a brush, blot, smooth a tiny amount of baby powder over with your finger. then follow with another brushed on coat; then use a brighter pencil to define the shape in the same colour as the lipstick or just a tiny bit brighter. Done - and will stay on for hours unless you do a lot of snogging or eating doughnuts.

The second liner defines your mouth shape, so that it doesn't look like a red gash.

Sounds good to me Specki will give it a go !!
tchsmile

Bellasnana hope you're pleased with them. I have the same set, you end up with three pinks, the green one being the deepest. I'm probably good for life now. When they're finished you're not throwing away a pretty metal tube that you've paid for - another bonus smile

Nonu try dabbing the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour I mentioned. I use it to stop my lips drying and it works better than any lip salve.

Nonu Fri 13-Dec-13 07:00:58

Thanks Agus will get myself some .
Bit of an early bird today .tchgrin

Bellasnana Fri 13-Dec-13 07:37:44

Thanks Sel - I will let you know smile

Oldgreymare Fri 13-Dec-13 09:46:29

I love lippy but have started to react to it, could be the dyes, even Clinique which is supposed to be 'safe'. My lips get sore and peel! sad
Instead I use a lip 'balm' which moisturises and protects and adds a clear gloss.
Now wondering whether I should have used the Oxford comma smile

absent Fri 13-Dec-13 19:33:43

OGM I doubt if the Oxford comma is available in a variety of colours.

Agus Fri 13-Dec-13 19:51:10

I would imagine it only comes in blue Absent to match the stockings grin

absent Fri 13-Dec-13 20:40:05

Dark blue at that Agus.

If I put on green lipstick that was meant to change colour I've got a bad feeling that, on me, it would stay green. I used to blush so badly when I was younger that I used green foundation under my usual foundation to tone it down.

janerowena Fri 13-Dec-13 22:29:35

No, I had a high colour too, it's fine on me. Safe in the knowledge that i have a new green lipstick on the way, I put some of my last scrapings ont before I went to a lunchtime drinks party. My lips still look far pinker than they normally would by now, but not as if I have lipstick on. It's very good - and it's lovely to find it again as I have got to the stage where I am starting to look a bit washed out without lipstick. I was wondering how much it would hurt to have my lips tattooed!

Lipliners - please advise, I haven't a clue and the only one I was ever given was hopeless because I couldn't sharpen it. What's a good make and is there one that lets you sharpen it? I have several sharpeners and none of them worked on the blasted thing.

Tegan Fri 13-Dec-13 23:03:17

I stopped using lipliner a while back because I found the one I was using made my lips dry. I bought a special sharpener from the Body Shop for make up; not sure what was different about it but it seemed to work.

Agus Fri 13-Dec-13 23:06:23

The Chanel Nude I mentioned up thread comes with a sharpener.

Oldgreymare Sat 14-Dec-13 07:10:14
