'Bigs' or 'smalls'?

For years, I have worn high leg briefs from M and S. Just recently they have started to annoy me so I decided to try full briefs. I wish I'd done it years ago- they are sooo comfy. Not exactly sexy to look at but frankly who cares? Not me!
Has anyone else done similar? Just wondering.
I remember when my MIL was about my age( early 60's) and she stayed with us as we lived away (hence why I did her washing) and she laughed about her 'bigs' next to my 'smalls'- how the years roll round and now its me with the 'bigs' and my DIL with the (skimpy) 'smalls'!

There are so many different styles and cuts in pants these days it's easy to buy something which is uncomfortable.
I try and buy pants which are wider at the back as the narrow ones are not for me as I cannot stand them bunching up.

On holiday in Greece once, we spent one day lazing round the pool. There was a very, very large lady wearing a shocking pink bikini, seemingly made entirely from string - with three teeny tiny patches in strategic places.

From the rear she appeared virtually naked, the bits of pink string being almost completely swallowed up in her folds of fat, and her huge derriere shockgrin. I remember my DH muttering the cheesewire/ blancemange analogy then as well GabriellaG grin

I wear TU bikini pants, mostly black, for every day.
But since I've been 'dating' this year I have treated myself to a variety of sexy undies. I feel very feminine right now ?

When I was 'dating' my OH 5-6 years ago he never saw my lingerie hmm Dating did not mean anything other than taking me out. grin

I'm reminded of my granny who lived with us when I was a child. She wore silk bloomers which were knee length. When she washed them she spread them out on the line for all to see. i was mortified when my friends came round.

Big knickers for riding and the gym - can't buy into the "nothing under your tights" brigade at the gym. Bluebella is a nice brand for when something a bit stylish is required.

John Lewis packs of 'big' knickers and Sloggis are my favourites. I did but non vpl ones from M&S and then, for some reason, they stopped doing them! My nan also wore 'directoire' knickers ie pink, silky and legs down to the knees. My mum would sometimes buy them for her on request but made it VERY clear to the shop assistant that they were not for her!!!

M&S high leg knickers have changed I think. Look and feel different from before. I’ve been wearing Matalan’s high legs and find them ok.

Sainsbury’s shorts here lovely and comfy and don’t walk!

I bought some Sloggis years ago to wear under trousers to avoid VPL. I have worn nothing else since: they are so comfortable and last forever.

Inis when I was in the Air Force we were issued with a pair of bloomers, 'affectionately' known as passion killers!
I have bought my knickers from Primark for quite a few years and the microfibre ones are very similar to sloggis - stretchy and no seams. They wash and wear really well and last for ages. They come in packs of 3, either colours or black and white, and in different designs such as shorts, full size briefs etc. I wouldn't buy any others.

Agree with Tweedle24. Sloggi every time. Cotton AND with a control panel.

Sloggi for me

Midi for me, in black, white or nude. I don't like to many things ending at the waist.

Blinko Tue 07-May-19 11:36:45

Too many...

Many years ago when I was a Girl Guide, we were on a busy London station with our leader. The elastic on her pink directoire knickers broke and they fell down round her ankles. She calmly bent down and picked them up, put them over her arm, and carried on walking. We girls were more embarrassed than her!

My gran also wore those silky Directoire knickers and I often wondered why they were always that revolting, sickly shade of pink. I don't think the colour was her choice; I remember the draper's shop where she used to by them and the ones in the window display were always yukky pink.

When you suffer with IBS and get bloated you cannot bear anything around the waist. It is therefore difficult to wear full pants, so bikini, high legs ones for me every time. Anyone found any good pants for a bloated stomach?

I never saw the point of small or sexy underwear. No one ever sees it.

After triple abdominal surgery and ensuing scars I gave up on smalls, bring on the white or colored, but only pure cotton. They have a gusset that does its job, doesn’t rub on my tender derrière bits and is away from my scars. I was still in my 40s, husband laughed, but guess who then changed to pure cotton boxers! The Lacey, nylon, wylon whatever lon, eventually drove me nuts, itched and itched and as for comfort, phtsh, none. Marks and Sparks, brilliant as Sloggi at £10.00 each and then not lasting, got tossed. Aaah, bliss.

I have just turned 70 and like my bras and knickers to match. Usually bikini ones in whatever colours and patterns are prettiest. 2 pairs of matching knickers for every bra. My husband is most appreciative wink

I am on the small side and, while I love M&S undies, the vanity sizing means I cannot wear any of their women's size pants.

My solution:- M&S lycra, cotton high legs for age 8-9. Not skimpy. Cover everything. Soooo comfortable.
