'Bigs' or 'smalls'?

For years, I have worn high leg briefs from M and S. Just recently they have started to annoy me so I decided to try full briefs. I wish I'd done it years ago- they are sooo comfy. Not exactly sexy to look at but frankly who cares? Not me!
Has anyone else done similar? Just wondering.
I remember when my MIL was about my age( early 60's) and she stayed with us as we lived away (hence why I did her washing) and she laughed about her 'bigs' next to my 'smalls'- how the years roll round and now its me with the 'bigs' and my DIL with the (skimpy) 'smalls'!

Well I never did! grin I'm so exhausted having 'Sloggid' through all those suggestions that I've had to double my blood pressure medications! I was looking for ideas in light of my possible sex-change procedure; some posters think I'm Dame Edna, others Sir Les P. confused
Maybe it's "large" if I manage to retain my "tackle", but comfort must come before style every time! Not sure if I'll come out of it as Arthur or Martha. grin

Sloggis most definitely if I buy knickers here in the UK. (Sloggi's full, large, comfy, "Bridget Jones" style!) And always cotton; the thought of any other fabric - for knickers - makes me shudder. But I have bought excellent cotton knickers in the USA. "Just My Size" & "Fruit of the Loom" are good brands there.

My mum wore 'smalls' until the day she died aged 76. I don't see why I shouldn't do the same, although I do keep some more capacious knickers to wear under tight dresses to avoid too many lines around my tummy. You won't catch me wearing bits of string, though!

Sloggi every time.

I’m not sure why some posters find high leg knickers uncomfortable. I wear matching bra and knicker sets (usually Brazilian style) as well as high leg in size 14.

I've gone through all sizes over the years from thongs and itsy bitsy bit of lace bikini styles to mid rise style and have now ended up with full blown big knickers that go up to my waist. I usually buy M&S no VPL ones which are very comfy but also have several pairs of Bella Bodies with matching camis which are also very comfy and don't roll down.

I have lichen sclerosis and my gynecologist told me I have to only wear white cotton knickers as any coloured ones have too many chemicals used on them. Nothing but cotton so everything can breath. I usually buy the M&S ones

Reading with interest....

Literally just arrived hime with some racy new style M&S ”Miami” knicks.

Debating whether I have the energy to run upstairs and try them on - before reporting back. ???

youngagain I well remember those blue silk RAF knickers although we called them ETBS (elastic top and bottoms). We only wore them for PT over our own underwear and tucked up the excess leg length or they would have shown beneath our short gym skirts. smile

dizzygran Tue 07-May-19 15:23:51

I like the M&S flexifit shorts. They are very comfy and look
good.

nipsmum Tue 07-May-19 15:41:11

I have worn M&S full briefs for 40 years. Never could cope with the small sexy ones. I did i n the 70 s when. I was a size 10 wear a bra slip but after I had children I've worn a full bra too. I never found underwired bras in the least comfortable. I'm afraid it's comfortable before pretty for me always.

Commando?

Rufus2 I had no idea. Good luck with the op. Maybe you will get a well paid 'slot' (sorry) on The Kardashians grin

anyone remember the "navy blue" knickers we had to wear for PE and a vest! shock

bikergran Tue 07-May-19 16:01:59

good grief!! seems unimaginable these days!

GrammaH Tue 07-May-19 16:07:51

PernillaVanilla I've just had a look at the Bluebella website...well, they don't really class as Bigs or Smalls do they?! My word, I'm not sure I would call their knickers 'stylish' , indeed, I wouldn't be entirely sure how to put some of them on and how one would wear the ones with the rear spider's web design - a few bits of string with nothing in between - I can't begin to imagine! A little too avant garde for this old Gran, I like shorts or high legs.

I went from thongs to full knickers a few years ago then decided I was on the slippery slope to elasticated trousers in my early forties which wasn’t good, so went into midis from M&S. Still comfortable but not quite so much fabric involved - although I bought some recently in my usual size and they are actually smaller that the last lot I bought (I measured them, it’s not just my arse expanding grin). M&S are getting a stinky email.

ayokunmi1 Tue 07-May-19 16:34:10

Bridget Jones ones for me ..
Cant stand knicker lines under clothing .
Have always gone for comfort
M and S full pants

Arto1s Tue 07-May-19 16:37:21

Oh gosh! Am I the only person on here who still wears thongs?!

Fennel Tue 07-May-19 16:46:19

BikerGran yes I remember the navy PE knickers. We wore them for netball.
Imagine girls running round outside like that nowadays shock. There were boys around, nearby, too.
Perhaps the big bloomers put them off!

Kittye Tue 07-May-19 16:54:37

Bigs for me, bigger the better! Artols thongs ? Doesn’t bear thinking about ?

SirChenjin Tue 07-May-19 17:01:58

Thongs are actually quite comfy! You just need to buy them a size up or it’s a bit eye watering. Big knickers are warmer though grin

Jacinta55 Tue 07-May-19 17:18:53

bikergran Oh yes I remember those navy blue knickers we wore for PE, though I was in an all girsl schol so boys weren't a problem. We did have one male teacher though: I wonder what he thought.
I wear full knickers all the time from Sainsbury, and like to match the colour with my corsetry during the day, or my crop tops at night.

Rosina Tue 07-May-19 17:42:51

I like slinky soft fabric knickers that come to the waist, but have a decently high cut leg. Always wore high leg bikini briefs, but found that the side seams of trousers - and jeans in particular - were making my skin itch, even if I cut out the labels. There is something harsh about the thread used, and I was left with red marks on each hip. Not a good look. Problem solved with high leg but waist high M and S knickers.

hallgreenmiss Tue 07-May-19 18:14:22

White Sloggi midi for me, comfortable but not enormous, no VPL, wash well.

Grandmama Tue 07-May-19 18:18:59

Full briefs, no VPL.
