How many perfumes do you have?

Just to start a light-hearted conversation, how may fragrances are on your shelf, and do you wear them all?

I have only a few.

White Tea by Elizabeth Arden - it's my go to daily spritz, I wear it every day, even on days home.
Shiseido Zen Secret Bloom - this is my evening fragrance. My first real fragrance was the original Zen, but they stopped making it, and this is a similar but more floral version.
Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt - I have a tiny travel size sample that I toss in for travelling, but I find it fades quickly.

I think I've only ever had 2 full size bottles on the go, and switch up a travel size when I find something interesting. I will try a different daily light scent when I finish a bottle, but my evening scent will last for years.

Some women I know have a real collection of fragrances, some others only ever have one. Yours?

Jings, I realise now, reading this thread, that perfume is actually a HOBBY for me! I have about 30 bottles, and I change my fragrance on the first day of each month, so I am rotating scents through the seasons. I am mainly a Hermes girl, so right now I'm wearing Un Jardin sur le Nil; August could be Jour d'Hermes or Voyage - later in the year I will wear Kelly Caleche and Amazone and in the winter I will wear Eau de Merveilles. I also have lesser known ones, I like Roma by Laura Biagiotti and Ellie Saab Le Parfum. My all time favourite is Kiku by Faberge, which I wore as a teenager over 50 years ago! I can still find vintage bottles on Ebay in good condition. I have tried the Aldi/Superdrug dupes and while they are quite convincing at first sniff, they have zero longevity, and you would need to keep applying them every half hour. Quality perfume should only need one application per day. Regarding a previous comment about perfume deteriorating if not used, I only usually buy 30 ml size, and always keep each fragrance in its original carton, storing the ones out of rotation in a black box.

I use Clinique Happy and have done for years, but also love Clinique Aromatics Elixir. I love everything Clinique do.

Ooh, Blondiescot- theres an Aldi dupe for it? Which is that please? (dont they have numbers or some such?) & is it still available? Need something as a 'day to day' spray when my Elisabeth Arden green tea runs out soon.I thought we had to discard them after 2 years like makeup?🤔 Having said that, i probably have 2 or 3 still in a box from last years house move that were already a year or 2 old.😆

I have two on the go Marc Jacobs Paradise and Flowers by Kenzo. I also used Estée Lauder Beautiful on my wedding day.

PennyQ Fri 21-Jul-23 13:27:33

JoMalone - mainly because I love the bottles!

I have used the same perfume since 1983, when I was first introduced to it by a friend whose sister had brought her a bottle from Australia...I don’t think it was available in the uk at that time. It’s the original Estée Lauder Private Collection and I still love it all these years later. It was created for Madam Estée Lauder’s personal use, but then produced for sale to the public. It’s harder to get now and I dread it ever being discontinued.

Aromatics for me by Clinique. I’ve loved it forever, and Lancôme’s La Vie et Belle is my go to for special nights out.

Anything by Chanel is always good for me especially Chance.

SueEH Fri 21-Jul-23 13:38:42

Chanel No 5, Amarige from Givenchy and Rive Gauche/Paris (only the original) from YSL. I wear perfume every day.. like earrings, I feel undressed without it. I ask people not to buy me perfume etc as I won’t use it if it’s not the above. My mother once bought me a huge duty free bottle of a different Chanel “because it smells lovely on your cousin”. It smelt like cat’s pee on me so my cousin got it!
Bath stuff/soap/moisturiser etc is Bath and Bodyworks’ Orange and Ginger .

It's such a personal thing, I used to love Balmain's Vent Vert but the one perfume I always have is Chanel no 5, which I love. I've also got Tom Ford's Black Orchid and several other perfumes that I use but if I want to smell like me, I always go back to Chanel no 5. Maybe old fashioned and a bit of an old ladies perfume but as far as I am concerned, it is just heavenly.

I've been a huge fan of Vent Vert for years and years. But you can't get it now. I was buying online but even that source has dried up. Anyone got any info on where I might find it - I think it may have now been discontinued. Nothing else seems to have that scent Vent Vert has!

I love perfume . I like Ysatis , Rive Gauche and my favourite was Dior Midnight Poison which has been discontinued and also Vivienne Westwood Boudoir (discontinued). I have a ton of samples and miniatures of other perfumes . I used to collect them from airports before they became expensive . I change my perfume with my mood and the time of day and the season . I always spritz with Eau De Cologne after a shower , or sometimes a light musk .

Eirlys. I was looking for Mitsouko and found this website. ‘Perfume Parlour’. They make copies of perfumes. Mitsouko was called Japanese Magic no. 0911. I think it is a pretty good copy.

Dempie55 I love Roma too.
Haven't had that for some years.

Was Kiku the yellow one? My friend (in the late 70s/maybe early 80s?) wore that.

I have recently run out of Duende by Jesus Del Pozo - I had my last bottle via ebay as no longer made...
It was really unusual- quite mellony and lush...

I have never bought a dupe to be honest until I was looking for a Plum Japonais for my husband. I watched several videos around this and settled on a dupe that had the best reviews. Maybe the sillage us a little shorter but as the genuine article wasn't available for under £400 it was really worth a punt.
You probably wouldn't know if you didn't have them side-by-side.

It was only on my pursuit for this fragrance that I learned there is no copyright on fragrances!
How did I get this old and not know?

Diplomat Fri 21-Jul-23 14:08:20

I also use clinque Aromatics Elixir, always use their skincare too. Channel No 5 for special occasions.

HannahLoisLuke Fri 21-Jul-23 14:09:31

For years it was Elysian by Clarins, then discontinued so I wore none.
Recently bought a sample set if Oud Attar and love three if them. Also use a natural lavender one from Provence which I like.

Coco Mademoiselle for me. I wear it every day, whatever I’m doing, it’s just part of my daily routine. I even wore it all through out lockdown, even though I wasn’t going anywhere!

Pigma Fri 21-Jul-23 14:35:26

For anyone else panicking that Mitsouko is being discontinued, rest assured that Guerlain have told me it isn’t. Phew!!!

nexus63 Fri 21-Jul-23 14:39:35

SparklyGrandma Fri 21-Jul-23 14:41:38

I’ve worn perfume since my MIL bought me Youth Dew for Christmas.

These days I love perfumes that last, preferably those with a neroli or bergamot scent. I am wearing Dolce and Gabbana True Blue everyday atm, but I also love;
Chanel Christalle - almost impossible to find.
Lancôme L’eau - they’ve stopped selling it.
Tom Ford - Neroli
Cedrat by Roger and Gallet
Bergamotto by Monotheme
Hugo Boss -Femme.

When younger I have verer between many - Arpege, White Linen, Rive Gauche, Anais Anais.

I wore Floris Wedding Day at my last wedding.

sandelf Fri 21-Jul-23 14:47:22

Another Ysatis fan.

LisaP Fri 21-Jul-23 14:53:30

Black Opium - YSL
I have worn Opium since I was 18 and a few years ago switched to Black Opium.

pandapatch Fri 21-Jul-23 14:54:42

Just one.. Daisy by Marc Jacob

Froglady Fri 21-Jul-23 14:55:39

Poison is the only perfume I have. Used it for years.

Oreo Fri 21-Jul-23 14:58:10

Perfumes fade away on me after ten mins so have given up on them. That includes Chanel 5 and any heavier perfumes.
Anyone got tips for long wearing scents?
The same perfume smells different on everyone of course.
Disappointing to get a perfume for a present and nobody notices any scent.
Never buy perfume online btw as there as are so many knock offs out there.DD bought me one two Christmas ago and the packaging was ace, but contained coloured water😲
