How many perfumes do you have?

Just to start a light-hearted conversation, how may fragrances are on your shelf, and do you wear them all?

I have only a few.

White Tea by Elizabeth Arden - it's my go to daily spritz, I wear it every day, even on days home.
Shiseido Zen Secret Bloom - this is my evening fragrance. My first real fragrance was the original Zen, but they stopped making it, and this is a similar but more floral version.
Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt - I have a tiny travel size sample that I toss in for travelling, but I find it fades quickly.

I think I've only ever had 2 full size bottles on the go, and switch up a travel size when I find something interesting. I will try a different daily light scent when I finish a bottle, but my evening scent will last for years.

Some women I know have a real collection of fragrances, some others only ever have one. Yours?

Herbias de Ibiza, citrus smell which I first bought on holiday on the island.
FCUK (terrible name).
I used to like heavier scents, but now I’m older, love lime and citrus smells.

Just one - Angel by Thierry Mughler.

I too love Angel.
I have 4 on my dressing table presently which I wear every day
Angel
Chypre Sublime by Floral Street
Liz Earle Number 15
and
Marc Jacobs Decadence for evenings

Don’t feel dressed without perfume.

I’m with you Isummer - Allure by Chanel. I consider it my signature perfume and was very disappointed when they discontinued the soap!

25 or so, favourite is Jolie Madame by Balmain followed by 212 NYC by Carolina Herrera, Cristalle by Chanel and Paris by YSL.
I loved Sea Jade by Yardley when I was a teenager. Yardley Violets was also a favourite but they changed it to April Violets which didn’t smell of much at all.
Chanel No 5 smells like old lead pencils on me.

I used to like 'The One', but when I developed a cough that wouldn't go and decided to stop wearing perfume in case it was an allergy
It turned out to be TB. But I haven't worn perfume since!

Oreo I think try layering with a body lotion.
But maybe Google "long-lasting fragrances" and take a trip to somewhere such as Selfridges - or speak to a perfumier?

Romola Fri 21-Jul-23 16:36:30

Another Chanel Allure granny here. I've worn it for years and it was the last present DH bought me for my birthday exactly a year ago.

LindaJ Fri 21-Jul-23 16:41:45

Just the one - Chanel 19 since I discovered it in duty-free in 1983! I have no problem finding it, always get it in either Frasers or Boots. I remember my DH commenting, after a spell of not being able to afford it, that I 'smelt like me again' when I got a new bottle!

jools1903 Fri 21-Jul-23 16:51:35

Clinique Aromatics and O de Lancome are the two I wear regularly. These have been my favourites for over 40 years since I first found O de Lancome at 18 years old 🥰

Tenko Fri 21-Jul-23 17:01:59

BlueSapphire

Mine are all Chanel!
No. 5
Gabrielle
Coco Noir
Coco Mademoiselle
Chance Eau Tendre.

Just wondering which one to take on holiday!

I rarely take perfume on holiday as it attracts the mosquitoes.

Cid24 Fri 21-Jul-23 17:47:01

Chanel No.19, for many many years. It’s getting difficult to find, maybe it’s been discontinued?

This is my favourite too, I’ll be very sad if it is discontinued.
Narciso Rodriguez (for her!) cos I don’t want to wear the above too often!
Red Berry and Rose, M & S for everyday.
Eden just to sniff because it reminds me of an aftershave DS used to wear and of a friend no longer with us …

sunglow12 Fri 21-Jul-23 17:47:06

I love Miss Dior that my youngest son and partner give me and they get in France for me . I like Inis ( based on the sea) and rose perfumes for a lighter day scent and quite often wear a perfume .

Gundy Fri 21-Jul-23 18:09:16

Moschino (Italian - floral, powdery, spicy, vanilla) - their very first original fragrance, for 48 yrs, any time, all the time.
My one and only.
USA Gundy

Ruby41 Fri 21-Jul-23 18:10:39

Cerruti 1881 and Calvin Klein Escape for daytime and, for evenings, YSL Paris which is quite hard to get but not impossible.

Hobbs1 Fri 21-Jul-23 18:28:38

Four:
Sarah Jessica Parker’s Lovely, my everyday perfume
For nights out/occasions I have Thierry Mugler, Angel,
Dior’s J’adore and Chanel No.5

Gransey Fri 21-Jul-23 18:46:28

I’m thrilled the Mitsouko has not been discontinued, going to look for some at the duty free next weekend.
I was gifted my first perfume at 17 by a patient’s relatives that I had been caring for as a Cadet nurse. It was Dioressence, gorgeous! I had no idea how expensive it was and had to have special dispensation from Matron to be allowed to actually have it as gifts that couldn’t be shared were frowned upon.
Pomegranate Noir is another favourite but I’m wary of wearing anything that could attract mosquitos on holiday.

Kathmaggie Fri 21-Jul-23 19:21:44

Dioressence is the only perfume I wore in the 1980’s and still adore today. Other perfumes from my past I don’t like anymore

CanadianGran Fri 21-Jul-23 19:25:56

This has been a lively conversation!

It's interesting to hear of some who have only ever worn one fragrance, and others that have bottles and bottles, changing all the time. There are so many wonderful fragrances, and it can be overwhelming to narrow it down to a few.

Lizzypopbottle, your post regarding your grandson made me smile. I guess wanting lots of hugs is a great reason to smell nice!

Jools, I have also had O de Lancome, and it is lovely. While I will keep my evening scent as Zen forever, I do switch up my day scent, but only one bottle at a time.

When I finish White Tea by EArden, I will perhaps go back to O de Lancome, or Green Tea by EA. I'll have to have a sniff to remind me!
