TV series which should be pensioned off

Got slightly mixed up in that previous post. Great as Cheers was, I meant that Mash was the greatest sit-com. I think there's probably a channel showing it somewhere or try Youtube. Possibly on Netflix too. I was also rather fond of Frasier.

I do still watch Death in Paradise for my bit of winter sun and eye candy (did I really just say that?) but it is very formulaic and will they/won't they.

Yes, meant to mention Frasier, very funny and clever (apart from the British characters...!).

Have to put my hands up here to being 'in' to one US series....Big Bang Theory!.....can recite some of the old episodes word for word.

MASH is on every evening at 7 on True Entertainment (184 for Sky subscribers). OH loves it and switches channels after the BBC News before the dreaded Alex and Matt start squawking on the One Show. It's double episodes and even if it's a repeat of only a few weeks ago(as sometimes happens) he still laughs his head off.I think he harbours a bit of a 'thing' for Hotlips

Definitely agree re Frasier -fantastic scripts and such good characters. Can't miss Corrie or Holby! Citizen Khan doesn't stay on for 2 minutes in our house and I hate loathe and detest Mrs Browns boys! Back to the worst of the 70s!

I, like others on here, cannot imagine why people would watch programmes they don't like. It must be pretty obvious that they are still being made because there are other people who do.

Of the OPs original list I like two and don't watch the other two. Find something else to do when a programme you don't like is on - it stops the grumbles.

I would be happy to see the following canceled:

Big Brother, and all similar unreality stuff.
Eastenders
Strictly Come Prancing
Any title beginning "The World's Worst..."
Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo
Any title beginning with "Celebrity..."
I'm a Celebrity Get Me the Out Of This Rotten Show

...and after M*A*S*H (get the title right, people!) on True Entertainment (SKY 184) comes... The Avengers, which is still great fun after all these years.

Eastenders can`t go anywhere! And I love Call the Midwife. Agree about most of the so called Celebrity shows.

Hey! HildaW I thought that I was the only 60something who liked Big Bang! It's lovely to find a fellow lover, and another Hilda to boot. You can bin all the soaps, particularly the dire Doctors, for me.
I do like Death in Paradise though.

My ten-year-old GS is devoted to Big Bang! I just hope he doesn't understand all of it... but fear that he probably does.

Has anyone watched Benidorm, it's funny but ghastly at the same time, and Joan Collins is in it. Mainstream TV is a bit rubbish these days, I think the catch up channels, netflix etc are taking viewers, as you can nearly always find a watchable film or series on which means you don't have watch the dire stuff that is on regularvTV. Keep Corrie though, just about everything else can go.

I think Joan Collins was only in Benidorm for one episode. It was funny for the first couple of series, but I feel it's past its best now. It can go!

It would be a sad old world if we all liked the same programme's,there are plenty of channels to choose from if you are bored with the same old series.

I spotted the actress who played Madge in Benidorm playing a very old lady of the manor in Father Brown the other day.

So funny seeing her in period costume and so instantly recognisable.

I don't think Benidorm will be as good without the Garveys.

Who else has noticed that Friends now has 2 dedicated channels all day every day?. The executives of Sky or whoever control those channels must have thousands of shares in said channel.

I have not watched Death in Paradise so can't comment and I do like New Tricks because I like Dennis Waterman. I always watch Call the Midwife. Am currently watching a new series of Foyles War he's in the intelligence service after the war and it's really good, extended episodes. I hate all soaps and celebrity programmes and despite its theme have been riveted by both series of Broadchurch, fantastic acting and a great cast. Also hate Midsummer Murders,Poirot, and anything about Sherlock Holmes.
